nope... but I'm not in a holding pool or anything. The guy who blue starred me is a cabin supervisor and he said he was told there wont be much intake of new applicants for at least a few months... Congrats on your interview though! Go for it!

aargh!! I dont believe how stupid I am!! The guy who blue starred me is also a trainer in BNE and I meant to ask him when the next ground schools are planned when he came into work today but I forgot!!!
He's working for the next 6 days but when I see him next I'll ask him for sure and let everyone know.
Watch this space!!

Well crap. If they've emailed people already, not much chance then.... will keep hoping though...
I don't get it... when I couldn't possibly get to Melbourne, they call me. When I can get there at the drop of a hat, they don't.. Dammit!!!

scottie I'm 18, but I was just thinking about it and is there anywhere on the site that actually asks you to specify your age? I think it just asks you if you are over 18. So maybe thats not it.
And skysista, apparently they're still inviting people and havent quite filled up the last seminar, so dont give up just yet, theres still a chance, however small....... Do you think theres a possibility that they might invite people based on how close they live to the place of the interview? Or would everyone be in with an equal chance?
I'm just gonna sit here, by the computer, checking my email every 30 minutes... just in case...

Anyone been to an interview with Virgin recently? Any word on format used at interviews? Remember hearing some time ago it included singing/dancing and roleplays. Is this still the case?
Thanks,

I live in melb, have been registered on the DJ website for well over a year and am blue starred, but yet am still waiting. This airline recruitment thing is always very fickle. We just have to patiently wait our turn.

How does this blue star thingy work?
Hi all,
Just wondering how this blue star thing works. As above, I applied quite some time ago and have been blue starred for many months. I know there hasn't been much recruitment of late, but am curious how the referral system works. Does the referee receieve an email immediately to complete? My referee has heard nothing
Some information would be appreciated.

resboy- the guy who blue starred me never heard anything from DJ either so I'm assuming all we have to do is just put their details into the thingo where it asks and the recruiters check it later...?
Btw- have you updated your application recently? Because I have a friend who applied for DJ about a 3 days before they started sending out invites for the melbourne interviews (yesterday, today and tomorrow) and scored one, and they live in melbourne too. A little wierd that you didnt get an invite considering how long you've been applying... I'm assuming you didnt get one....
aargh, I give up on trying to work out how DJ recruitment works

Blue Star
Hey guys / gals, the blue star process is an automated system....You as the applicant fill in the online process, when it asks if you are a blue star referral you answer yes and enter all the information about the VB employee who is acting as your referer.
The recruitment system picks this up and sends an internal e-mail to the VB employee you nominated and they have a form that they have to fill in and a declarartion to e-sign.
I might suggest that if your blue star buddies have not received the internal e-mail then you may have gotten some part of their information incorrect in your application. Make sure that each part of the info is letter perfect, including capitals where they should be. VB e-mail addresses do not use capitals, this is all i can suggest to you. The electronic system filters the applications for suitability, a standard practice these days, doesn't allow for personal bias. But I do know one of the girls up at volume recruitment had 1200 applications she was sorting through last week, and they are just the ones she had to do selected from the online app system.
Any one school for VB CC can have as many as 14000 applicants these days, and that has to get whittled down to the 60 odd that they group interview on the day and on from there. So when they say getting to the group stage is an achievement, it is.
Chin up guys, just keep plugging at it and keep the on line applications updated regularly, they can see when you have been in and updated, show a consistant level of interest!
Good luck

Havent heard anything since the recent day that scottie380 went to. Last year the recruitment was continuous but I think it might be a bit slower this year. We are due to only get 2 new aircraft and atm there has been leave without pay offered for the months of Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May and June.
Goodluck with it all and if I hear any whispers I will post here.

Yay!
Aw thanks guys! I can only hope. I don't really want to even try and apply for QF or Jetstar, I have a better feeling about DJs. Is this wise [not applying for others?] I suppose it isn't but oh well. Haha!
According to their site; CC positions are supposedly going to be available in 'the future' gosh knows how far back you can put that off though
In the meantine I am just going to keep preparing.. mentally, physically and emotionally
I really want this so badly!

Sylphie, Trust me, I really don't want to sound like im lecturing or anything (i hate those kind of people hehe) but most certainly do not only apply for virgin. I was also the same as you, not wanting to work for any other airline and thinking they are the greatest and when it came down to my interview (obviously the first with any airline) I didn't make it through and I was just devestated. I couldn't understand it either, i thought i knew everything about virgin blue and to be quite truthful, a lot of the people who got through didn't even know what the uniform was, but thats the way it is so I don't want to see you make the same mistake! It also made me look at why I wanted to be a flight attendant and if its just because you want to wear the dj uniform and fly in the pretty red planes then perhaps this isn't the job for you *cringes, dont take it the wrong way!!* But if its because you are truely devoted to customer service, passanger safety, upholding company image and still come across happy at 4 am when your tired then virgin blue isn't the only airline out there!
