Qantas Interviews - Anyone herd back yet?
As above... Has anyone herd back frm their final interviews yet?
This is for long haul fixed term FA position.
If not, does anyone know when we are likely to ??

Did you happen to ask them when they will let people know if they do make it thru?
I have been waiting for 2 1/2 weeks... I really want to know...!

Thanks kids,
One day they are going to turn around and say you have the job!
And I will says... no thanks... I only do interviews
Lets see what QF/MAN MEL say this week?? at stage 3.
In the hands of the Gods... what will be will be.
Mocha, QF SYD said two-three weeks, received e-mail in four days.
We loved you... but we did not have enough love in us to see our way clear to make you a job offer.
Please do not be too depressed about this decision.
We encourage you to apply again in 6 mths.
Weeell it went something very similar to that.

Hi
I attended an assessment day for Qantas MEL on 25th August. They told us then that it will take at least two weeks to get back to us to let us know if we have made it through to the next stage.
Have you had interviews? Can you please let me know what was involved, in the event that I get that far (let's hope so).
Also, does anyone know how many people they're hiring? I heard on the rumour mill that it is 150, however I also heard that they've already hired 100??? Any ideas?
Cheers,
Nans

Nans,
I'm pretty sure its slightly different state to state but in Sydney these are the stages i went thru.
After the ass centre I went to the panel interview, where they basically asked me questions about my customer service experiance. But I have to STRESS that these questions might be different for everyone, they all might not be about customer service for e.g they could ask you things about QF. So make sure you are prepared. They were really nice and friendly and made me feel at ease and very comfortable.
Then comes the medical & security check, which i'm doing next week. After that its a waiting game. You are not a sure thing to get the position because you get thru to the medical. Alot of people are still not accepted.
But as I said before they may be doing it totally different in MEL.
Not sure about how many they are hiring I heard the same rumour as you.
Anyway good luck, I hope you get thru to the next stage.
Let me know how you go

Well to confuse the situation even more, I've heard that this round of assessment centres / interviews is to replenish the shortlist that was recently used to employ fixed termers.

Shortlist...
Hey Guys...
Ozskipper that was an interesting point that you have just made. It actually makes ALOT of sense... Ok here is my theory to add to everyone elses...
In the recent assessment days QF said the contracts were between 4 and 11 months... Well, if they create a shortlist they may not call you till mid next year, if this was the case you would only be needed till November 2005, if the London base goes ahead. However, if you were called up immediately, you would cover 11 months which ends around the planned November London base date... So to sum it up the length of your contract would depend on when you are called up, the earlier the longer, the later you are called up the shorter the contract....
Am I making any sense???? Anyway, just my theory, and I reckon it's a good one if I have to say so myself...
Cheers

Socialflyer,
Excellent theory, and yes you are making complete sense.
I think you have actually hit the nail on the head, why would they for example train someone in oct then give them a 4 month contract and then show them the door in feb. Ozskipper and yourself are right there has to be another shortlist.

Thanks for the info waiting_game, it helps. I have a lot of experience in customer service so could draw on tons of examples!
SocialFlyer and ozskipper, I think you're right. Which is a pain because I'm so impatient! I wish they would just give us the correct info. it would stop all of the rumours. Perhaps Qantas aren't even sure of what they're doing???

Hi, I read on one of the Qantas related posts somewhere that someone thought that the assessment days are over. Just wanted to let everyone know that I just recieved an invitation for MEL for 10 September 2004. Although I have read all the comments for and against these fixed term positions I think I will attend the day anyway and decide once I have heard it explained if I am interested. At least its interview practice...

Hello all
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything more re: Qantas?
It's been a week since my assesment day and I haven't yet heard anything. I don't think I got through
Please keep me posted on how you are all going.
Cheers.

Hi juliets*jet
Which state are you from? It seems to vary depending on your state.
I can't really give you any advice re: what to wear as my ass day was a week ago and I haven't heard anything so may not have got in. Therefore, my advice may not be what you need!
Cheers.
P.S. Good luck.

One small piece of advice! Wear a jacket!!!! some people turned up to the last assesment days without a tie and without a jacket!!!!!
Juliet are you in Perth? My friend got a call today inviting her to group interviews in Perth on Wednesday for Long Haul, presumably a fixed term contract yet nothing was explained over the phone to her?
pm me if you want

Hi guys,
Just thought you might want to know a friend of mine received a call today from QF asking her to attend an ass centre in Sydney next Friday. They were apparently a bit vague over the phone, also she was driving so the line wasn't great they just gave her details like time, venue etc......
I'm pretty sure its for fixed term long haul.
She hasn't updated her details on staffcv for over a year, they must be really desperate!!
I also really don't understand that if they are so desperate as it appears why would they not contact people who were on the last shortlist like they said they would. It seems very unfair.
I have a couple of friends who were on the list and they have heard didly squat!!
