Thumbs up

Hi triple. I am a CSD on World Wide fleet at LHR, and also an SEP trainer. Best tip, have a great time, get stuck in and try to enjoy it. You only do the course once so remember it.

The medical is great fun, with some really nice trainers. The SEP is fairly stressful, simply because it is pass or fail and it is so important that you can demonstrate to your trainers that you react effectively in emergency situations. Fires, Decompressions etc etc. The SEP trainers are a fab bunch and will do their best to help you, but you must show us that you are trying your hardest.

Once again..............................enjoy it, and welcome to BA.

BA crewlounge?

Does BA have there on crew lounge website (I mean outside this board)? I am with UAL and we have one - my friend with BA asked me to find out the address for her.

We do, but it's basically restricted to Union members.

If your friend is already working with us and is a member of Bassa, I can let her have the address. Otherwise, it's not worth it as she won't get access.

This is the best non-restricted place to be, really.

Eddy,

What about that particular board where you post so regularly ? :-D

280 posts in less than 2 years, I believe...

I know it's not strictly a cc site, as fc join in the merry rhetoric.

Hi all,

I passed my assessment day on aug 6 and have been in the holding pool since then. yesterday I got a call saying there would be no more lhr EF courses till Feb 2006. Instead I was offered a LHR contract but would be suconded to LGW WW for 9 months to 2 years!!!!!!

A few questions

1. where is the BA training centre in gatwick? am planning to commute down on the train from london. Is this possible or do I need a car?

2. Do you have standby on LGW WW as am worried might not make a 1 hour call out.

Would really appreciate any info. I've been flying for 14 years but always shorthaul.

Application response times

Hi all,

Has anyone applied recently for LHR Eurofleet? I applied on September 17th, but have yet to hear back from BA. Does anyone know how long they're currently taking to get back to potential candidates?

Cheers!

LHR_777 ...........

I applied in Oct last year, and did not hear anything for about 3 weeks - I then waited until Dec 13th for my assessment day, and (luckily) was succesful. I did not start training until 11th April.
Rather a long wait - but WELL worth it !!!!!!!

I was an internal applicant - but both internal and external applications are processed at the same time (some external candidates from my assessment day were on the same training course as me).

It loks like BA a still recruiting in large numbers, so it will take time for applications to be processed, so don't give up all hope just yet !!!!!

Hi, its two hour standby from your home on WW unless your on 45min QRS where BA put you in a hotel and pay you for it! QRS is the best paid trip at LGW!!!!!

I've a lot of friends who drive and spend hours on the M25, others take the Virgin Express into London and as well as only taking half an hour, airline staff get a discount on it too so you best do what suits ya!

Well, the easiest way is to take the Gatwick Express from Victoria (runs every 15 mins) as with BA ID pass you get a discount and it works out as cheap as the stinky south central!!!

When you arrive at LGW the train station is in South Terminal. From there follow for "Concorde House" (where most charter airlines and a few others report) and then it's only a 10 minute walk to the Hangars. That's where we get trained, it's not as posh as Cranebank but you have everything, if you become friends with "THE BOYS" (engineers) they will be more than happy to take you around to look at the planes they're working on during your lunch break (God I am so sad! )

Staff Travel is in the same building and so is AVMed. There's a canteen but if you care about your liver try to bring your own food-there's always the whistleshop in south terminal!!

Have fun and enjoy your training! See you around Jubilee.

Thanks for getting back to me! I too am internal, based in T4 PSU and I'm pretty sure you used to be one of our DM's!

Anyway, I'll just hang-in there and wait and see. I applied in March but didn't get it that time round, so hopefully, second time lucky.

Cheers!

Well, technically, they're two seperate jobs, so may well have two seperate interview sessions. However, if recruitment actually notice that you've applied for both, they'll probably ask you which one you'd prefer to interview for. Best option is to call BA Recruitment at The Rivers on 0870 60 80 747 and ask them.

Good luck!

I'd leave it for a bit. I applied 11 days ago and called this morning, to be told that "we'll get back to you within 5-10 days of you submitting your application".

When I said it had been 11 days, I was told "perhaps it's taking a bit longer then..."

Really? So my friend, we're both in the same boat, sitting and waiting...good to know i'm not alone!

Hi,

I applied to LHR Eurofleet, and have been sent to LGW long haul for up to 2 years too. Start training at LGW on 17th Oct - so if anyone's doing the same course, let me know!

For anyone waiting to hear from, BA it took about 2 weeks to get a response from my application and another couple of weeks for an interview date. I heard 3 days after the interview that I'd been accepted. Then it took until 1st Sept to get a course date.

Good luck to you anway.
