Red face Is it worth it?

Hello everybody!

Let me just say that this is my second post here and everyone here has been amazing to other wannabes! Especially to the Emirates ones! My first post didn't get any replies! But I hope this one does!!!!

My question is, I'm 20 and I read a few posts that some people actually got the job with EK when they weren't 21! So I'm asking you if it's worth it to go to a walk in even though your not 21. And what I'm wondering is if I don't make it the 1st time around, which is likely, and I go back after my 6 month probation, they might find out that I tried to apply when I was 20 and they might not hire me beacuse I don't listen very well, which is I went when I was 20 and wasn't suppose to until I turned 21. Get what I'm saying?

I think I really meet their requirements, I've been working ever since I was 16 which means I have 4 years of customer service under my belt and since I was 18, I've been a ticket agent for an airline here in the US which is definately face to face custimer service. Also, some other posts said that if they like you, you have a couple of years of customer service, etc, you have a good chance. What do all of you think about this????

Thanx for replies in advance!!!!

If I could offer you any advice it would be to wait until you are atleast 21 if not a little older, not too sure if you would have to relocate to the UAE but being so young its hard living away from home or your home, try a US airline see if you like it or gain some more experience within the industry in your own job then apply in a few years, just my own point of view.

Hey Fly_guy100

I am 20 myself and have been told by many people including EK recruitment staff that they will only accept applications 2-3 months before you turn 21.

Dont know if that helps at all

So do you think the safer side is to apply once you turn 21 or it might be a good idea to go 2-3 months before you turn 21? So do you still think it's a good idea to go when your so and you could at least know what's expected? Anyone else know anybody or you went to an EK interview when you were 20?? If so, what was the outcome?

I forgot, are you sure they said that spunky????

Hey Fly_guy100

I am positive they said that. Sarah at the EK office in London emailed me and recommended that i apply no more than 3 months before my 21st Birthday. It makes sense as the whole process of recruitment and selection would take that long..

Just go for it.

When do you turn 21?

I've had 4 friends apply.

2 got in - both older than 21 (1 was 28 and the other 25)\

2 didn't - 1 was 19 and the other 22....

I don't know if their is a specific policy not to hire under 21's, however it might be worthwhile just waiting the few months until 21 rather than take the risk that they knock you out on age alone!

Good luck with it....

dude!!!!

your in the position i was in!
I lived in perth, opposite side of Australia, im only 18 and took the risk and moved with no family over here

Im young, and i have been working in customer service since i was 14, then supervisor when i was 16.. i got a job with Jetstar

Dude, you have nothing to loose. Follow your dreams and give it all you got, and people told me, your still young, so whatever you choose you give it the best, and if all fails, head back to your family, and kick on! thats if you have to move, which im more than sure all cc are based in Dubai

But hey... big choice, know how you feel dude!

Good luck, follow your heart and take care man.
