These 'Sticky' Topics

Hi All,

I was just wondering if anybody felt the same way as I do regarding these topics.

I feel like they are just plain, old in the way and take up half the board - especially those that have not been responded to in some time. Everytime I log on, the list of 'Sticky' topics has just grown longer.

Do you think we should only keep those topics as 'Sticky' when they are being responded to on a daily basis and make the others just fall back into line with the rest of the topics?

Or do I need to get a life?

Toodles.

xx

qwannas - GOD LOVE YOU !

I have complained twice to the moderators of this forum and also complained via a post like this with no action taken regarind the horrible sticky posts.

These sticky posts are meant to stop people posting new subjects on the same topic but if you look at the "virgin" sticky above it has not been responded to since April 1. Now look below and you will see 3-4 other virgin blue threads. So I think it is fair enough to say it is NOT WORKING.

Also - maybe it is time that UK and AUS/NZ cabin crew ppruners got our own seperate forums ? There seems to lots of us posting now so seperate pages would make great sense.

MODERATORS - PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ACTION.

Wink Hi QF Skywalker how are you?

Right! Then perhaps we can merge your post with my post and then make it a 'Sticky' topic. Then it can just sit there for three months, or so, and everyone can just divert straight to page 2 to read the really interesting stuff!

Probably not a bad idea to get seperate forums for UK/Eur and Oz.

Brains and Brawn, darl! That is what I like to see.

Folks, don't forget that from this side of the board we have a broader view of the needs and issues.
I have already explained to QF skywalker that people keep posting the same thread again and again when it had been debated thoroughly maybe the week or the month before. And to get a complete view of a topic you had to perform a "search" and then browse through many threads, and without continuity. People kept posting new threads to which people replied "try to do a search etc etc".
Now we have spotted some topics that were recurrently brought up , and which are also relevant information for people and stickied it. They surely have gained from the continuity. Now there's no more repetition and it's like an information database that is immediately available.

We believe this service to our members is worth the big effort of scrolling down the page with your mouse.

flyblue,

While I totally respect your position as moderator of this forum I still do not agree that we should have so many sticky posts. Perhaps we could keep the " BA, EK and DJ " ones but surely the others can go ? Why should those that have been members of pprune for so long be penalised by having to "scroll down with the mouse" ! Maybe you could make a link for us to "skip" straight to page 2 because that is what we have to do at present.

What about my idea of seperate cc forums for UK and OZ/NZ ??

or a vote of all cabin crew members as to if we want stickys or not...I think you will be suprised.

The Alcohol Law sticky is going very soon. About the Accommodation thread, we are trying to find another destination for it, but it is something that has been asked for long so it is staying for the moment.
What about my idea of seperate cc forums for UK and OZ/NZ ??
Actually the number of Forums is meant to shrink in the future (working on it at Pprune Towers) so it is definitely not possible.
But I'll see if there's a way of putting more threads in one page so you won't have to scroll down too much

SLFguy,

I think you know what I am getting at here - scrolling is not the big issue.
