Hi , this is my first time using this site. I would like to know if anyone can offer assistance, I am eager to become a flight attendant at this higher age bracket of 51yrs, i am not sure who would be the best to apply to and who is recruting at the moment. I am prepared to relocate , please could someone help me !!!!!!!

Hi Joy -
National Jet Systems is recruiting at the moment for a ground school in april. Age is no probs.
Maybe look at jetstar & virgin too - virgin constantly recruiting & jetstar are getting started.
There is always Australian in Cairns. I believe they have a shortlist already & you may have just missed the boat with current recruiting but if you keep checking the website something may come up.

You may already know this, however, go to the site www.cabincrew.staffcv.com You can apply online with several airlines in Oz (and overseas if you are able to).
Better be quick with Jetstar, as they have been interviewing this week for certain bases.
Do not let age put you off whatsoever darling. A couple of lassies just recently got in with Australian in CNS who were late 40's and early 50's. Go girls I say
So long as you have a brilliant Customer Service type background and you meet the individual requirements, there is nothing to hold you back. Just bear in mind, all the Oz airlines will require you to have a current passport (with no restrictions), RSA Cetificate and First Aid Certificate.

You know - I just love the attitude down there.
I am forty three and am wanting to return to flying after having my 4th baby. I have been flying on and off for twenty years.
Here in the UK I am finding it VERY difficult to get a job.......there are lots of social attitudes thay seem to be getting in the way.
You would have thought that with all the experience I have it would be easy to get a job, but the problem is i think that there are lots of low cost airlines here....and their ethos is to get young nubiles, use and abuse them until they drop and then replenish their stocks from people out of school.....
Do I sound old and bitter? I am a bit........

You are not old, you are a chicken . i am 35 years old, and must admit i know how you feel. Most airlines would swallow you up straight away, that sounds rather rude !!!!!
I am at Easyjet and they are not to bad.

51 the higher age bracket?? Let me tell you a little story that may inspire you!!!
I fly for BA and have just done a trip to Japan. One evening on my stopover I along with one of the other crew went to a noodle resturant a bit basic but very nice food!! We were joined at our table by three flight attendants from United. I'd say they were all in there 50's.
We had a great conversation mostly about the airline industry and of course about conditions within our own airlines.
Anyway during the course of the conversation they started to tell me that on there particular crew there was a flight attendant called Iris and she was the most senior. In fact I think they said her seniority number was something like 00001!!!
Iris is still flying at the grand old age of 83!!!! Now I know there are people within the flying community that would say she should have given up years ago, but I really take my hat of to this women.
So Joybells my advice to you - GO FOR IT!!!! XX

I think i may have heard of Iris too. I have heard on my layovers some talk about her. She is with United and is ranked as senior number 1!!!

Ignore redfreds negative post. Go for it. Even if you have to retire at 55 fly for 4 years and experience something different.

Go for it. I only started flying at the tender age of 35 and will be around for a few more years to come

18-30? Wake up redfred. Passengers may want to look at at 18 year old chickiee but when they board an aircraft and get a shaved head 14 stone 6'0 tall purser as I am they soon get a reality check.
The days of "Mandy" fly me are well and truly over and you know what I would rather fly on a aircraft as a passenger with a more mature crew then a bunch of young crew.
In fact the best flight I ever took was with TWA from New York to Washington when the average age of the crew was about 50.
Excellent service and I for one felt comfortable in the knowledge that if anything happened they would stay calm professional and in control.

Qantas recruitment
I have submitted my application many times (monthly) to QF but get so reply...just the automated email. What is the story? I speak Japanese and have vast hotel experience. I have got to the last selection stage twice. I know that when I eventually get invited for an intervierw that I have a good chance. Your comments please!

Makes me wonder about carriers like Emirates Qatari low cost carriers etc who are desperate for for crew if they would take on applicants for people in their 50's.
Happen to see an ad for Emirates Cabin Crew in the local job centre in Birmingham UK the other day!!!
