Like many QF Longhaul crew, I am too getting sick of the below standard accommodation that we are more recently being subjected to. Even some of the trusted favourites like the Swisshotel Stamford in Singapore, that used to be one of my favourite hotels. The Rooms there a truly filthy. I checked in last week and my room had not been cleaned, used bandaids on the bedside table etc, and I wont even go near the stains on the curtains and the bedheads

The
sumptuous Mainz Hilton
is one of the most revolting hotels I have ever stayed in! I wouldnt let my dog stay there!

QF has to decide whether or not the cost savings of putting crew in dirty, noisy, uncomfortable hotel rooms is worth the knock-on effect on the 'inflight expereience' of our customers. QF cannot have it both ways.

A comfortable, well-rested flight attendant provides much better service than a stressed out, over-tired one...... the bean counters cant see that it seems

5 Star

I've heard rumours that Emirates crew that are at the Gold Coast can get free accomodation at Palazzo Versace is that true? I've heard it from a few people. If it's true Im soooo JEALOUS!!!

I've heard similar complaints and I definately agree a flight attendant that is well rested and is able to WAKE up happy with their room etc is going to be a happy flight attendant. I'm kind of discusted with what I've been hearing. Farout even on the rails it sounds like we get better accomodation! Regional crew may not have the option of staying in big flashy 5 star hotels but they can get nice cosy...warm and friendly regional motels/hotels and still be happy and have a good time. They are always clean and quiet. After a long shift...isn't that all you simply want? If you can't be supplied with that at a city hotel...I think it's appalling!

C'mon guys, let's not associate your bad hotel experiences to all crew hotels! A fact i know is that some crew hotel's provide fantastic service/accommodation to crew and a lot of the time this goes un-noticed. Considering hotel staff and crew work in the same industry, dealing with the same passengers/guests, i've heard crew speak to hotel staff in a way that i wouldn't even talk to my dog! A bit strange considering they know what it feels like.

Something to think about anyway.

No offence mate, but it does get a bit annoying after a 14 hour sector to be treated like a 'second-class-guest' from hotel staff as well. In the hotels we stay at at QF Longhaul , with the exception of a few ( actually the Hilton on the Park in MEL is the only one that springs to mind - the staff there are fantastic)..... hotel staff definately treat us a lot differently to other hotel guests. Usually in a much poorer fashion than other hotel guests. Yep, I am sure QF gets real cheap rates for the rooms, but it is not the crew who arranges the payment, so we should be afforded the courtesy of any other guest ..... not placed in the crappiest rooms, and given poor service ..... but it happens all the time. Its a fact of life.

I too have seen crew treat hotel staff badly, and I pull them up on it every time I see it. But some of the treatment we get from the hotel staff we see in overseas ports is truly astounding! Have you ever waited for 20 mins in a line at a hotel reception, then asked if you are crew -- then told you have to wait for the 'real' guests to finish before you will be served?

I often request to be changed to a non-smoking room, and have often been told in many different hotels words to the effect of ' you are crew, you dont get to change your rooms' . Noice

We should not be treated any differently to any other hotel guest who's accommodation has been paid by their company, no matter how cheap the rate QF has paid.

But I agree, crew should not be rude to hotel staff, as no customer should be rude to a service provider.... but then again, we dont live in a perfect world do we? And when there is a service failure, then even as crew, we should still be allowed to point it out.... although not rudely.

Hotels can vary from my experience as crew and I feel for QF Long Haul crew and they are justified in their complaints, I have stayed at some of those hotels when on holidays.

When I was at Eastern the Hyatt in Canberra would give us these huge suites which are the size of a Penthouse apartment in Sydney and if you were lucky you scored the Presidential suite. This was a nice change from the Dubbo RSL Motel LOL.

Heheh GH,

I had the Presidential suite recently at the Hyatt Canberra, and it was so big that I had to leave the light on near the front door so I'd be able to find it again in the morning!

Needless to say, I could get used to that kind of lifestyle.

rail accomodation

You should see the tilt train layover motels!!! After 14 hours on a rattling tube if the bedroom is clean I just crash without a care!!!...the complaints comes later when the crew get the energy levels back up LOL

As for other trains like the Sunlander...you have to share sleepers with other crew some nights on a rattling old train built in 1953!!!

I'm not saying your accomodation is not that bad etc but I'd rather be in a hotel sometimes. I know that I wouldn't be happy getting a dirty room with bandaids everywhere.

service recoveru

Biscuit chucker I've already had something very similar happen to me on a minimum rest from rail. I simply told reception and they did take another 30 mins or so to do it. It was in fact the front desk receptionist who had to do it and I felt sorry for her but I was very ******ed too! The next time i stayed at the same hotel I received champagne chocolates complimentary dinner at a restaraunt bla bla. It was excellent service recovery but ...I'm not sure if we are all able to get this same kind of treatment even with airline staff staying at the larger hotels.

Smile Yukky Hotels

I have had some accomodations that i wouldnt let my dog stay at....but of course the good ones almost always outweigh the bad. depends on where my trips are....if im flying to a desirable destination usually the crew hotels are excellent.
some nasty destination then of course ya cant expect 4 star accomodations.....thats usually how it is for us anyway.
