So if Jetstar are taking off in May, which of course is only 4 months away, when are they going to employ?
And I mean all departments not just cabin crew. I understand they already have the workforce of Impulse but surely there has to be more going on?
I can't believe it's so quiet on the newsfront.
Come on people divulge your info now. Please.

Looking at the gant chart backwards from May 2004 they would have to start ringing people for interviews in the next couple of weeks or days. Feb to get prople interviewed, March to get back to them and let the staff resign, 4 weeks notice, march/april will be inductions, training etc lets start flying in May. This includes loaders, checkin ops, flying ops etc etc.
All I know that they ( the inner circle) are working flat out. Would love to be there for the start. What a fantastic ride. Lets not forget the delays with the start date of DJ.

Any News?
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything re: employment with Jetstar. I have to say it is pretty quite on the rumour mill! I am sure there must be some galley gossip around. If there's any Impulse crew on the prune maybe you could share some info with us.
Also when exactly does the first Airbus arrive and how many after that in how many months? How many flight attendants will they be seeking to employ pre start up.
Thanks in advance.

JQ A320's
There will be 8 (A320's) in service by Dec. The 1st 3 will be leased from SALE ( an aircraft leasing firm ) and the next 5 are direct orders from Airbus. The leased a/c will still be brand new though.
The first A320 for Jetstar will be MSN 2169 (ready by late march 2004), followed
by 2185 and 2197. All three are leased from SALE.
The first Jetstar ordered A320 will bring MSN 2292 for delivery in october 2004. Two other A320's will follow in november 2004 (2299 and 2322) and two in december 2004 (2329 and 2336).
Of course Jetstar will start with the 14 - 717's currently operating for QantasLink.
Expect Jetstar schedule/price/route network to be announced all on the same day mid feb.
Also the official two letter airline code for Jetstar is confirmed as " JQ "

all the interviews in feb/march will be for ground positions... they need to get all that sorted to enable the airline to start up initially. they already have ample cabin crew to start up the airline with only the 717s.
i dont think they will feasably be able to begin interviewing for cabin crew until at least june/july which is when the first A320 ground school is planned for anyway.
goodluck to all who are applying!

Today went well, they were quite informative and very nice. There was about 40 people there I'd say. They're hiring in Bris for Queensland, Newcastle and Hobart (though I'd say they'd go to Newcastle and Hobart aswell). The first ground school will be held in Syd next month. Todays recruitment seminar was the first so best of luck to everyone else out there. Fingers crossed for you cause it really was a great opportunity
Waiting to hear back, the suspense is killing me. They told us they would let us know very soon as people who made it on to the next round may even be called in for their next interview as early as tomorrow.
Wow
They just called and asked me to come in for a second interview tomorrow.

I dont think anyone would have. I was told that the people they recruit in Brisbane will be the last to go through before Jetstar takes off. Then they will start recruiting in other cities and plan to recruit 200 cabin crew by the end of this year. They're not sure, but said they will probably go to Hobart next

tell us how it goes and how you went
