Just wondering if anyone has heard anymore news about Jetstar. It's been a while since anything has been said.

No Ansett people apparently.
Rumour has it that JetStar is not employing Ansett people. They probably don't want a whole lot of people with extra qualifications. A wise decision - perhaps.

Venture Executive -
Bollocks! Our Manager Cabin Services is ex Ansett as is the NSW Crew Manager and nearly all of the recruitment team. You need only look at the ground schools since September 2001 to know the rumour you heard is unfounded.
At least one senior ex Ansett trainer didn't even have an interview. Also it is a no brainer how the NSW Crew Manager got her job.
I reckon 65% of all new hires since September 2001 have been ex Ansett.
Jetstar is Impulse. The same people are doing the recruitment.
Do I care? Nope. Just wish to pass on the evidence which shows an Ansett background helps. Not that one should expect to get in. MANY haven't.

good luck to all who applied for jetstar!
i also applied and received confirmation last december.
i had a chance to speak with a flight attendant from impulse when i was at the airport. she said, they will work for jetstar and it's already been started?. they said, they will hire lots of people but i can't remember the date coz i'm off for a holiday overseas....it's nice to have a holiday in an exotic place. yum!

The people being interviewed currently are from last year's hold file, who had already attended previous interviews/group sessions but were pending final interviews with Impulse. These people had applied and been interviewed prior to the JetStar announcement on December 1, 2003.
It's my understanding that those who registered most recently will be interviewed (with the initial group process, etc) over the coming months. Around 300 FA's will be needed, if not more over the next year and a half.
Those who have registered since the JetStar announcement have not been interviewed yet. Applications are still being taken.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

Twist of fate.
For one reason or another, many people think our venture is JetStar and are applying for jobs through us meant for it. Under privacy legislation we have had to tell these applicants we cannot hold the applications and the electronic data has to be deleted or their paper applications returned. Our response has been excellent but we won't be conducting interviews for a little while yet. It's great to see some opportunities come up though because Ansett is really a very sad story in Australian Aviation.

Any further info??
Hey Mr seatback2 and Ditzy(and anyone else in the know),
Have you guys any further info on how the whole changeover process from Impulse to Jetstar is gonna work??
Obvioulsly, you guys will now be cleaning on turnarounds (like DJ) and restocking etc.??
What are the thoughts of current Impulse guys about the whole thing currently....I know that you guys werent really happy at the announcement time??
What about salary? ( I have heard that o/nites will be limited and so therefore we all know that this will lower overall income)
Staff travel and progression??
I know of Virgin Crew on the shortlist who are seriously thinking that they may be better off sticking with what they know.......
Any thoughts greatly appreciated guys!!

Hi BVB
In response...
The changeover is still being planned at this stage - and will most likely change frequently prior to the rollover in May.
All we know is that our current management team based in SYD (along with admin staff, etc) are safe until the end of this year...from then, who knows?
We have always cleaned on turnarounds. What remains to be seen is whether or not our duties on cleaning remain as is, or change for the worse.
A mixed blessing. Happy we still have a job - but being told that our overnights will drop, meaning longer days, etc. is never happy news! Depends on what you want from the job, what you're used to and where you want to end up.
Change is always good, in whatever form it takes. Some view it as a step back, others forward.
Happy to simply be employed full time in an industry not known (or likely to be known in the future for that matter) for full time, permanent employment as a FA.
We're all watching with suspense on what they will do to our staff travel privileges. Our agreement, etc. will remain untouched (just as well we got a 3 year agreement - shudder to think what would have happened if we didn't have one when the announcement was made).
Well - as much as our overnights are planned to drop, we can't really do much about the loss in income, as the allowances are only provided for meal compensation whilst being away from home. Whilst they're not supposed to be a money making exercise, the surplus from allowances always helps.
Then again, Virgin Blue said they'd have few overnights when they started - now look at them!
As for progression, they've said they're honouring it. I always add "for now..."
Venture Exec - whilst we're not JetStar right now, we will be from May, meaning all those employed by Impulse prior to May will roll over to the new venture.
As for interviews, me thinks they would have to be started by May at the absolute latest. Those A320's won't crew themselves (due in June), and with the added crew member to the complement and winter season (which brings with it flu, URTI leave, etc), I'd be very interested to see how long before the first JetStar training school was conducted.
Whilst the A320's will be replacing the 717's, it takes 4 weeks for a training school to go through. My sources tell me our training schools will run into the double digits for this year alone.
All this is further affected if we get more resignations from our SEQ base. Australian interviews and Virgin Blue interviews (with Direct Entry CS positions) will have a rather interesting effect on our establishment figures if I'm not mistaken.
