British Airways Interview Advice!

Well, I've decided to take the risk, and go for the interview with BA!!! I fly out on the 17th of this month (ON FRIDAY!!!!!!) and my interview is on the 22nd!!!

I'm basically posting this to see if anybody could give me any advice or tips on what to expect in the interview process. What sort of questions do they usually ask, would it be anything like the Qantas interviews???

Oh, by the way, anyone from London have any idea where Cranebank is? Is it at Heathrow??

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

Sorry, one more question...Does anyone know, is there a maths test??!!

THANKS!!

Yup, Cranebank's at LHR. Tube to Hatton Cross, then catch the BA shuttle bus from the station.

Good luck - hope your trip's more succesful than mine was! That was for the sponsored pilot scheme, so I can't help with the interview details.

Questioners are rumoured to be keen on candidates knowledge of the Oneworld Alliance and BA's franchiasse partners. Also an idea of BA's products' future products and a bit on the opposition. Most of this can be gleaned from the BA.com site.

Perhaps someone who has had an interview last week can confirm. I am sure they will ask 'What is the most difficult situation with people you have had and how did you resolve it'. 'What is your greatest achievement'. 'What can you bring to BA'. Best of luck.

Commitment +

I think your very attendance counts in your favour - not everyone would fly 24 hours for a job interview!

I presume you have a passport or eligibility to reside and work in the EU?

Good luck!

I'm hoping that will go in my favour ozskipper!!! I have a bit of money saved up, and I've got family over there anyway, so I figured, why not??!! Imagine if I actually do get it! That'd be so excellent!

Yes, I do have an EU passport, but this could be a problem as it's still in Canberra getting renewed, and they are being VERY, INCREDIBLY uncooperative about getting it to me before Friday.

I sent it in at the begining of last week, before I knew about the interview etc. and it's just sitting there doing nothing!!!!!! They just won't budge, cause apparently my damn future isn't a 'compasionate' enough reason for them to hurry it through! I've been almost in tears to them over the phone, but no, they can't help me...Just ring back tomorrow...BLEHHH!!!

But anyway, all that aside Thanks for the help everyone, and if anyone has been through the interview process last week, any help would be appreciated!!!

Flying_Sarah,

thinking aloud here, but could they possibly send you some sort of official document which states that you are a citizen of the UK?

They could possibly have something like this due to people's passports being lost/stolen/destroyed. However, i suppose it could have security/privacy implications?

Also, the high commission in Canberra must be fairly efficient as i received my passport about 2 weeks after sending my initial application off. So there is still hope!

And finally, do you have a photocopy of your old passport? Worst case scenario, this may bide you some time.

Good luck

Well, I think it's all sorted now. I rang them again this morning (the poor people there even remember my name!! hahaha, they must be laughing at me!) and anyway, they said it was printed, and should be sent off today or tomorrow. So fingers crossed! It should be here on Friday at the latest, meaning I'll have to fly out on Saturday instead of Friday, but that's no problem.

I feel like I can actually get excited now!!!!!

And by the way, does anybody have any idea how much the tube will cost from the Camden Town station, and how much will the shuttle bus be?? Money is tight since 1 Australia dollar equals about 41 pence!!!

Airport Express

I'd suggest the airport express to Paddington - its much quicker although more expensive than the Tube (I think its about GBP 10 each way - could be more now).

Broadly speaking, the cost of everything is a bit more than double (not much more though).

For example: Big Mac Meal is roughly GBP3.00 in AUD its $6.00, but if you convert GBP to AUD it cost you GBP7.30.

If your looking for accommodation I've used wotif.com and the like very successfully - saved heaps on my last trip over there.

If you travel in off peak on the Tube its cheaper also - but you might want to think about getting a tourist travel card - you buy it here before you go and its much cheaper!

PVT me if you want more info.

First up, if you're not used to London prices, prepare to be shocked - it's a helluva pricy city.

Unless you're severely pushed for time, get the tube from Camden Town - Northern line, then the Piccadilly. It'll take well over an hour but only costs GBP 3.40.

HeathEx is GBP13 single, GBP25 return, but you'd first have to get to Paddington, then hike from LHR to Cranebank (or get the tube back to Hatton Cross, which is v. pricey for one stop).

Unless they've changed the system, the BA shuttle buses are free.

If you're in a good group, allow a few quid for post-traumatic beers in the Green Man...

i've been BA c/c now for 9 yrs , and know some of the selectors!

the one thing they always say is that they are looking for people who just act naturally , and dont put any airs & graces on!

And,don't go on about prev experience etc . . . ! They want you to come into BA and accept new procedures/routines etc.... !

the majority come to BA LHR shorthaul , which is where i am, i can honestly say they are the most chilled ,brilliant people to work with.

Its hard work , teamwork is essential and they certainly do that on shorthaul.

If you prove to them during the interview that you are willing to take this all on (and forget about yr past routines etc..) You are on to a winner.

Good luck ,and let us know how you get on
