I haven't heard them use the online video interviews either. However it seems this recruitment will be the first to utilize this format.
A few days after they started accepting EOI (which was on April 17) they overhauled the 'Flight Attendants' part of the careers website where the online video interview is stated as the first step. It is widely used by airlines in the States.

If your online application is shortlisted you will be invited to participate in an online video interview experience which is a new and innovative tool we are using as part of the comprehensive recruitment process.

Once you have successfully completed the Online Video Interview you are invited to attend the Qantas International recruitment day, this is your chance to demonstrate what you can contribute to Qantas International.

My advice would be to schedule your First Aid course ASAP. Don't miss out because you don't have all the paperwork you need. if you are not able to schedule a first aid course in the next few weeks, make sure you have a copy of the booking for the following few weeks or risk having your application rejected based on not having the required courses.

They have started sending out invitations to video interview.
