hey everyone,

my DOJ is the 16th May, anyone else joining on the 16th May? would be good to speak to some people who will be there with me.

nickedo15 14th Apr 2008 19:31

oi

my DOJ is on the 16th of may too! just waiting now for my final approval!

easynick 14th Apr 2008 21:05

I have my final approval already, it was certainly a long wait, and i sympathise with all of you waiting!! My assessment day was on the 7th January, and my Final Interview on the 8th January. My final Apporoval came on the 7th April!! thats 3 months of waiting and a lot of stress...

Just hang in there guys. the wait is worth it in the end, and just remember, no news is good news!!!

Nikedo, will you still join on the 16th May regardless of when your final approval comes?

SENA...

HI,
I really imagine how you feel, I had a second Final Interview some days ago and I couldn't help myself thinking like... what did I do wrong last time?.. during the interview I felt I bit more comfortable but still hesitating in some questions. That's normal, I think.
This time I gave them everything they requested, pictures, copies, etc. and I just wait for 'THE CALL' I think the best thing you can do is trust yourself, and let's see what happens. Everytime you try (attend an OD)is different, different ppl will be there and stuff, and you can't know what the outcoming can be, if you don't try first and do your best!:ok:

GOOD LUCK! Just do your best! and be yourself!;)

hey good luck! Just relax and be yourself, don't worry too much about trying to do the right or wrong thing. If you relax and show that you can work well in a team you will be fine!! good luck!

Hello people, I'm iiinnnn!!!!!!!! Ma DOJ is June 6th. What I'm interested in is...is it true that they give u your first salary upon arrival, or u have to have your own money.....and for that first month, how much money should I be having?? Thanks

Ena85 15th Apr 2008 18:30

No worries!;)
The recruiters notified us all that they needed A LOT of crew- so no specific qouta was given to them on how many they could "bring"...however, they also said that the standard requirements still stood as normal- I have a feeling most of the 20 made it through all the way, it was a great mix of ppl:)

Advanced pay

Please carry some amount of cash to meet the expense of 3-4 days (Preferably please carry UAE Dirham as you may find it difficult on Friday to exchange money for your needs, you will receive an amount of Dhs.500/ + an advance of Dhs.2000/- from your first salary (advance payment).

Hope this helps...this information comes from the final briefing email. (4 days before the DOJ you will get it...of course you must have received the final approval email first)

Record Breaking Waiting Time!!!!

Hi All,

I think my application broke the record in regards to waiting to hear back from cabin crew recruitment team in Dubai.

I waited 2 months and five days for the results of final interview. After the golden call, sent in my medicals and waited another FIVE (5) weeks to hear back for my final approval. And I had to call them MANY many MANYYY times to finally get an answer. I believe one night I dialed their number FIFTEEN times until I finally came through.

The moral of the story,... yes there is a lot of waiting,... but just be patient. As they say,... no news is good news. So just be positive and patient. Good things will come to good people.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OUT THERE!!!!!! I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST,.. and most importantly,... I WISh YOU ALL LOTS AND LOTS OF PATIENCE!!!!

and who is leaving Toronto to go to Dubai???? ANyone else but me>>>??

Final interview

I had my final interview on the 14th of April. For the finals around 20 people remained. Does anyone have an idea of what percentage usually are accepted.

At the interview the recruiter said we initially would receive an email to respond to and then be contacted by phone. Is this right or just a way of saying you wont make it? After my interview the recruiter remained and chatted with me for quite a time. Is this a good sign?

Another thing...I am an Anglo Australian guy, does this play against me. I was given the impression Emirates prefer an ethnic look for their male crew. Any thoughts?

Juzz51 17th Apr 2008 06:55

Bkkfly...

If you get an email, it means you didn't get in, if you get a phone call, you're in.

Don't worry, there are heaps of Aussie blokes working for Emirates, nothing is really a disadvantage. I'm half thai half aussie, but look completely aussie and I got through, so it's nothing to worry about.

Good luck!

easynick 17th Apr 2008 07:08

bkkfly,

i am british, with blonde hair and Blue eyes and i got in, so i don't think they o for a certain look... as long as you fit the emirates vision you are in. Good luck, and be prepared for a long wait!! haha

midoy10 17th Apr 2008 10:41

haha

blond hair and blue eyes;) is so amazing because in the commercial pub of EK we have a girl in the same vision:ok:

birthmark

Hi guys and gals!
Iīm new here although Iīve already spent a lot of time reading your posts. Iīm planning to attend an OD in Bratislava in two weeks and Iīm really worried about it coz it seems to be so tough!
I would like to ask you few questions before attending it.it would be great if you could answer…:
1.is it a problem if i have a visible brown birthmark on my neck and arm? i`ve read on pprune that one girl was sent home because of it. I was advised to cover it but as itīs convex, it doesnīt work. I want to remove it but now itīs too late coz I donīt want to have a scarf on my "D"dayhttp://annie-thejourney.com/wp-inclu...s/icon_sad.gif
2.what about the scoliosis, do they reject you if you have it?
3.what should i take with me for the open day?should i print the resume i have filled on their web site or can i use my own? do you think itīs a good idea to join the cover letter as well?
Iīve already collected several very useful informations on these forums, now Iīm trying to organize them and I will put them here as soon as I find a little bit more time.
I keep my fingers crossed for all the EK wannabees!!!!!!!!:ok:

:-(

Hi, I sent my medicals one week ago but I still haven't received the confirmation email, I'm afraid that they maybe didn't get all the files and i tried to call them at least 20 times but no answer... On the documents they sent me there is written that they are open from saturday to friday so i don't understand why they don't answer to the phone...

midoy10 18th Apr 2008 11:48

:Oyou have to wait one second week and if no answer call them:ok:

easynick 18th Apr 2008 19:32

MayaEnVuelo

hey, i found when i was trying to call that i could only get through to them on a sunday, monday, tuesday or wednesday, and only if i called them at 9am or 10 am local time in Dubai.

Hope that helps you get through to them.

Also, i only got the confirmation after a week or two that they had recieved the Documents. So just be patient!!

Good Luck!

Interview on monday!!!

Hi everyone!!! :ok:
I have interview on monday (21st of April) in London! Really worried, :uhoh: because dont know what to expect and how this day is going to be?? What questions they may ask? If anyone could help me with that would be really helpfull!

flapsforty 19th Apr 2008 10:52

nikita1980, this thread is full of information about exactly the things you are asking about. Instead of just shooting from the hip and asking the question once again, why not make yourself a pot of tea and read the WHOLE thread start to finish.
Think about the time it takes as a very worthwhile investment in your future.

PPRuNe Cabin Crew forum is a resource chock a block full of information for those people willing to make an effort.
Since making an effort is actually a big part of a flight attendant's job, you might as well start here. ;)

Leito 19th Apr 2008 13:37

SPOT ON !!!

When I started flying, (10 years ago), none of this forums existed and yet I survived, so, take advantage of it and get the home work done by yourself, :}.

Good luck with the interview by the way !! :ok:

Ali_Xander 20th Apr 2008 07:24

Welcome onboard to everyone who has made it through. The waiting is a pain but like someone else has already said, EK are taking in 80 new crew every week - that's a lot of planning and organising. So just hang in there (I know its easier said than done!)

Just to add, San Francisco has been added to the network...wohoo! (",)

nikuska 20th Apr 2008 10:51

Thank you all for all those useful posts!!!Iīve just got the invitation for the OD.Iīm so excited!!!!As my questions havenīt been answered yet, iīm trying it again. Can anybody PLEASE!! tell me if itīs a problem if i have a visible brown birthmark on my neck and arm? i`ve read on pprune that one girl was sent home because of it. I was advised to cover it but as itīs convex, it doesnīt work....:ugh: I want that job soooooooooooooooo much!!!!!

flapsforty 20th Apr 2008 12:35

Nikuska, as far as I know, no EK recruiters frequent this forum. So any answer you will get here regarding your birthmark will be speculation only.

The only real way to find out is to contact EK and ask them. Doing so could save you a lot of time, nerves and money.

Good luck with your application. :ok:

Mari 20th Apr 2008 16:48

Nikuska,

Yes, It Is A Problem!

Don't Go! Don't Even Try!!!!!

nikuska 20th Apr 2008 17:54

disappointed

I have impression that this thread is not as it used to be.Where are all those friendly people always willing to help you?I asked this question because I thought that maybe there is someone with the experience which could help me.I have been reading these posts for more than 3 weeks and I have found lots of questions based on speculations, like what types of people they are searching for, how to behave, what gestures and body language use, etc. These are not speculations????
Mari: thanks for your support...
Anyway, whatever happens, I will try it. If you have any questions, donīt hesitate to ask...I will keep you informed.
Good luck to all of you!!!!:ok:

easynick 20th Apr 2008 18:24

nikuska

How is anybody supposed to answer your question in this thread? it is for people who want to work for them, not for people who already do and know all of their recruitment policies inside out! :ugh::ugh:

Probably the best place to ask is in the emirates crew discussions thread, as the people in there currently work for Emirates, and may be able to tell you if they have any Friends/Colleagues or even themselves who are already working for Emirates who have a birthmark similar to yours?!

I think the first question on anybody's lips is "will it be visible when you are wearing a uniform?"

Rather than complaining that no-one will answer your question you could just use common sense of take all necessary steps to cover your birthmark with clothing etc when attending the interview. As far as I'm aware there is no requirement to take off your clothes in the interview.

semiliner 20th Apr 2008 23:08

And for that birthmark, I don't think it's a problem, but I would definitely disagree on hiding it, cause if and when u arrive in DXB, u'll be undergoing a medical testing all over again, and then you won't be able to hide it. It's a birth mark, not a scar:)

nikuska 21st Apr 2008 14:43

Thank you for your answer Semiliner:ok:
Yes, my birthmark is on a visible place, actually itīs on my neck so I cannot cover it and I donīt want to hide it because of the already stated reason. If they donīt accept me with my birthmark then I will go to the doctor to remove it and try it again in 6 or 12 months.
Thereīs no reason to be offensive guys and gals, Iīve read already more illogical questions here and noone was...:ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:
And btw if I go to the cabin crew thread, the moderator will delete my message because Iīm not a CC yet:D
Better not to ask anything next time...

habibinamerica 21st Apr 2008 17:42

any news SERDARH???

I've read your posts and I was just wondering if you have already received your Golden Call...???
I'm waiting for mine as well, it's been 2 weeks since the day of my F.I. and I've already heard from a girl from my home town receiving good news!

Cheers!! Good luck!!:ok:
