MayaEnvuelo

Thanks Maya. Geez i hope i get the golden call next week... i dont think i have the patience to wait for 2 months! :hmm:

About the medicals... do they require an ECG test? I'm a bit worried as i had a heart operation when I was 3 years old to correct a congenital heart disease. Although I am okay now, no restrictions on my activities, not taking any medications or whatsoever, the doctors get scared when they see the scar on my chest!! The sight of it makes them apparently silly to jump into a conclusion that I am not fit to work.

Anybody here also has a history of surgery? My condition really worries me to death! :ugh:

final approval

Anyone got the final approval by phone or via email? Can you guys believe that they have been asking me for my passport copy 5 times??!! I received once confirmation from a lady in recruitment team saying she received it, but now again someone (a different lady) called me and left a message saying they did not receive my passport. Oh my god, I can't believe my DOJ is April 18 and they keep asking me for the passport. This morning I sent 4 emails with the same attachment hence they won't loose it again... :suspect:

holagirl 2nd Apr 2008 23:13

same here... leemarlon

:ouch: After my final interview, the recruiter told me to leave the photocopy of my passport and job letter and proof of education at the front desk under her name.
I did what she had told me to do, and I left everything at the hotel front desk under her name.
It's been three weeks after my final interview, and I just received an email from dubai that I should then them the missing documents!
I wonder where the documents I originally submitted went..

well as an ex-EK staff... I can say that not-so-good stuff sometimes happen. :ugh: Things can go wrong within the HR Department, just imagine how many new staff they are recruiting every month! My advise is to just stay cool and cooperative. Do some follow-ups if you feel things started to get silly and strange. But in any case, this should not be a reason for you to worry because Emirates has a very competent recruitment team. There may be delays and little shortfalls but it's surely gonna be taken care of. ;)

semiliner 3rd Apr 2008 09:03

Hey:)

It's 4 to 6 weeks from the date of your final interview, and if u get an email it's a no, and if u get a phone call, it's a yes. Hope ur phone will ring:)

recruiters in Latin America

HEY LEEMARLON!

Just a question, who were the recruiters in your home town? I'm just curious about it;)

I'm sure you'll have some god news soon, the EK recruitment staff seem to be flexible and understanding when somebody needs some "extra-help", change of date or stuff like that... JUST STAY COOL!:ok:

CHEERS!

leemarlon 4th Apr 2008 04:50

They are Sonya and Roweena (as pronunced) from Island and Australia. I need to contact HR department to see what is my medical status and when I can expect my final approval...now I can't leave on April 18...need to change it so I can serve 1 month of notice period.:uhoh:

jaluka001 4th Apr 2008 19:22

Hi Holagirl,

Chest and teeth X-rays?

Just wondering why a chest x-ray is part of the medical? What exactly are they checking for? And for the teeth, what are they checking for as well? Do they want you to get any work done on your teeth in your home country before you leave for Dubai?

leemarlon 5th Apr 2008 00:13

Hi, the following information can answer your questions:

X-ray films with the date and patient name on them AND a radiologist’s report in English are required. Any thoracic scoliosis must have comment on degree of curve and rotation.

Dental Standards Expected:
· Teeth should be free from caries and all necessary fillings completed.
· Roots etc. should have been removed. Sockets clean, uninfected and healthy.
· Temporary fillings are not acceptable.
· Gingiva and oral cavity to be free from infection or disease.
· Teeth should be free from plaque, scaled and polished. Good level of periodontal health.
· Crown and bridgework, if present, should be in good condition.
· On initial examination in EK clinic, if treatment is found to be unsatisfactory or uncompleted, it will
need to be restored at the patients expense.
· Dentures, if applicable, should be in good condition and fit properly.
· Root canal treatment should be complete and satisfactory. For recent RCT, a post treatment periapical
X-ray should be supplied
· Wisdom teeth which are normally symptom-free (i.e. which do not compromise adjacent teeth or
do not create recurrent infections) do NOT require removal.
· Dentition should be of cosmetically acceptable appearance
· Gaps / missing teeth do not need to be replaced by bridges etc. If posterior and unnoticeable.

shinners 5th Apr 2008 16:11

just a few days but im supposed to leave on the 11th. i have a friend whose leaving on the 18th but gotten her approval already, and i submitted mine first....

leemarlon 6th Apr 2008 02:39

Hi,
When did she receive the final approval? Does she have to serve any notice period? We are 3 here with DOJ April 18 and no one has gotten anything but resend and fix some of the medical forms...i am no longer leaving on April 18th...i requested them to move my DOJ to May due to their delay on advising me. Well, I think you should get ur final approval just 4 days before your DOJ 11th.

shinners 6th Apr 2008 09:35

leemarlon 7th Apr 2008 03:14

I got an email from EK regarding to Appendix 2 of medical form, question #1 was not ticked off. So I resent it...now again i am waiting for the final approval and confirmation from EK to move my DOJ to may.

Hopefully they get back to me soon! ;)

nonolo 7th Apr 2008 06:05

leemarlon - The same happened to me~!!

Hey marlon, I got an email from the CC joiners couple of days ago, also regarding Question 1 in Appendix 2 being unanswered and requiring me to fill it in. They then asked me if my medical is approved, whether I am still able to join on 18th. Anyhow, I still haven't got my final approval yet tho. Now I'm back on the waiting period :ugh: .... Lol... Hopefully everything would be fine. I can't wait to start~ All the best to you and hopefully yours would goes well too. Time flies so fast, the day will arrived without we actually realizing it :)

Ena85 7th Apr 2008 09:07

Thats so funny because I got the same email...hehe..I thought that question was to remain unticked for some reason...!Ah well, at least we re all sorted now!My DOJ of is 9th May, hopefully some ppls in here are going for the same date:)
Best of luck ya'll!:O

leemarlon 7th Apr 2008 13:34

I have requested to change my DOJ to either May 9 or 16...hopefully they will sort that out for me. Because I need to serve 1 month of notice period and therefore April 18 is impossible for me to join the company. Still no news yet, but I will be fine.

UpInTheAir747 8th Apr 2008 11:37

A question for you all

I'm undergoing all the medicals, I have a question, I have 2 missing teeth (numer 2 on the right and on the left in the upper side of the mouth) and I did an othodontical treatment 10 years ago to fill the missing teeth with my natural teeth, I mean now I don't have any visible gaps in the front area of my smile, the dentist specify that thing on the dental report, and he wrote that I did this othodontical treatment and that now I don't have visible gaps even I didn't fill them with crown or bridgeworks but with my natural teeth, do you think that they will acept this thing? I'm really scared that they won't understand the orthodontical treatment that I have done... I also have the dental xray report on which is written the same thing that the dentist wrote on the dental checklist...

If they will be in trouble with my smile they could check my photos don't you think?

UpInTheAir747 8th Apr 2008 15:31

:-)

Thank you nickedo :), I'm sooo stressed, I had to wait for 2 months to get the approval after the FI now I'm just afraid that something wouldn't be right with my medicals... Generally I'm an easygoing and relaxed person, I don't now why I'm behaving like that now!

habibinamerica 8th Apr 2008 17:48

Hey Shinners.. No Worries!

Last year I failed my final interview and this year I tried again! .. time goes so fast! We were about 100 in my home town at the begining and for the final interviews we were about 20!! that's a lot, I think! JUST WONDERING IF IT IS THE SAME IN OTHER COUNTRIES..

anyway, I just wanna say try again, last year I felt terrible, specially cause after a FI you expect a lot, but now I think that the whole situation gave me some more experience and hopefully this year I did it better!;)

Waiting for a call from Dubai...

Ena85 8th Apr 2008 18:12

Our FI people had more than 20 ppl, out of 160+ who turned up for the open day so I think thats pretty common- depends on how many turn up in each city I guess;) Best of luck!:)

hey again guys,

i got a friend who i met during my FI. she was one of the other finalists and she told me that she gotthe golden call yesterday around 11 am and her DOJ 30th May. i was not keeping my hopes that high but emirates calling people in same day or occasionally?

thanks

nonolo 9th Apr 2008 06:45

Serdarh

Hey Serdarh, you still have a good chance. No news means good news ;) As long as you don't received an email (rejection normally via emails), a call should be coming your way. I think your friend who got her result so early is purely lucky because most of us have to wait for more than 4 weeks or more to get our golden call. So don't give up your hopes just yet. Being patient with the recruiters is the way to go :ok: Good luck and wish you all the best~

Serdarh 9th Apr 2008 08:17

Thanks for the respond nonolo
i guess i ll keep waiting on :D

DireStrife 9th Apr 2008 09:27

DireStrife 9th Apr 2008 10:45

MayaEnvuelo...

Guys, any idea if EK contacts the references you mentioned in the application form?

nonolo 9th Apr 2008 11:08
