Virgin applications

Hi Mareke,

I apologise for not answering your original question, but I am extremely interested in working for Virgin Atlantic and have been frequently checking the careers website for vacancies. The website currently says that there are no vacancies.

I notice you are filling out an application and you posted yesterday. I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong place , and if you could point me in the correct direction.

Kind regards,

Andy

Any Virgin Atlantic crew??

Hi!

I currently work for Virgin Blue in Australia but my dream is to work for Virgin Atlantic based in the UK. I do not have an EU passport as the requirements say you need, wondering if anyone knows whether they hire on a working visa?

Any insight into working for Atlantic would be nice too!

Thanks!

I've had an invitation to an assessment day with VS on hold now since Jan 09, this week they've finally emailed to say the assessment days will be going ahead soon with training courses (should i get the job, that is) starting in the autumn. Has anyone else in their "assessment hold pool" had this email?

lauralouise 16th Jun 2010 17:58

Hey I applied last year also and received an email saying to let them know if I am still interested within 3 days and that assessments are being held over the summer with Autumn start dates etc. It wasn't an invitation to assessment though. Is this the same or a different email?

What stage did you get to before? I wasnt offered an interview before as they stopped recruiting so not sure whether the email implies I will have an interview or not. Slightly confused :/ x

Rachael87 16th Jun 2010 21:01

Hi there,

It appears I had the same email as you. I got as far as them arranging a date for the assessment day, then cancelling it a day later.

The email basically says (reading between the lines) if we reply and say we are still interested, we will get interviewed - before they recruit externally. Just waiting for a date now, I hope it comes soon!

lauralouise 16th Jun 2010 22:13

ah thats brilliant thanks for replying. I was worried they might just reconsider my application for assessment wasn't sure if it meant I would get an email. Really hope this is the case and we hear something soon! x

Rachael87 16th Jun 2010 22:48

There would be no point in them asking you if you still want to be considered unless they WANT to interview you. Doesn't make business sense as it just creates more work for them. They're not going to email people 18months later to say "sorry, but no thanks" are they? They're just checking that you still want to attend the assessment day before they start ringing everyone. Otherwise it wastes their time, if half the people who originally applied are no longer interested. :)

G-SAAW 20th Jun 2010 20:14

Hey guys. I also got an email about being invited for an interview. That was a week ago so just trying to be patient now and wait for an interview. A friend of a friend works in recruitment and apparently the interviews are being set up for july. I wonder how many people are waiting to be interviewed. Really hope they email soon!!

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if you can commute from Glasgow to Gatwick/Heathrow if successful?

I was recently on a Virgin flight to Glasgow where one cabin crew member said that a few of them commute from the Glasgow area to start their shift in London. Is this possible for a newly qualified member of cabin crew? I really want to work for Virgin but not keen on moving down south permantly.

Can anyone help? Thanks

A_Zone_Only 11th Jul 2010 22:51

^^^^

Yes Katwoman of course it is.

Whilst it's true VA prefer you to be within a 2 hour radius from LHR/LGW, there is nothing to stop you commuting. We have commuters further than Glasgow such as Copenhagen, Dubai and even LA!!!!!!!! I kid you not.

Obviously the closer you are the better but so many of our CC commute. You just have to be prepared for the cost of it and occasionally arranging hotel stays for standby months if you haven't made friends with a CC who lives in Crawley by then ;-).

Oh and you will soon become a regular face at service stations for those early morning check ins!

Have you applied yet? I personally can't wait for new crew to start - we need some fresh faces and enthusiasm!

Good luck to all of you who have interviews btw. Any questions - just ask! x

VBWannbe 13th Jul 2010 00:46

Hi A_Zone_Only I know this can be a personal question so I'm happy if you don't want to answer it. Was hoping you could give an idea of what pay is like beyond the base salary, perhaps what you can expect to take home each month?

Thanks :)

ANstar 21st Jul 2010 15:55

Apparently they have 2,500 more applications to process and there seems to be only 3 more classes of 21 each left.

So I reckon they will have filled all the positions before they get to everyone :( That was on cabincrew.com any ways :ugh:

I've still not heard anything from Virgin, I'm guessing that I didn't get an interview?

chrystall 31st Jul 2010 10:50

a friend did phone - although the website said not to - and was advised everyone would hear something by monday at the latest?

Daniel55V 31st Jul 2010 15:23

Got an email last night saying that I was not successful, but due to the amount of applicants, they couldn't tell me exactly why...

I guess now isn't the right time for me, but congratulations/good luck to those who did hear something positive :D

Passenger Services - So hard to get work!

I came back about a month ago from America, having worked for a year there in Passenger Services for a ground handler on VS. Since coming back home it seems like there is nothing much in Passenger Services available. I applied with VS and weirdly was not even shortlisted for interview. And a ground handler disqualified me from applying because I did not currently reside in the UK, even though I said in my application it was willing to relocate to the UK if successful! I'm completely open to working anywhere yet I can't seem to find anything. Anyone know where is hiring? :ugh:

Betty girl 6th Aug 2010 15:05

GVHOT.

BA will be soon for external applicants for main crew on there new Mixed Fleet. Log on to BA.com.
Go to the very bottom of the page and click on Careers. Then click on customer service option and eventually click on Mixed Fleet. Just had a look and for main crew you can register your email address and they let you know when recruitment starts. Hope that is helpful to all you hopefuls.

Virgin Atlantic cabin crew

I would appreciate it is someone can advise me. Is there any change of getting past the application stage if I have not worked for 3 years? During this period of time I went travelling, completed a PPL and studied for my first block of ATPL exams.

JessicaR 30th Mar 2011 16:57

Hello everyone,
Ive got my assessment day tommorrow for Virgin Atlantic Cabin Crew. Was wondering if anyone had any tips on the interview day, and any of the one to one interview questions they remember?

:)

covent garden man 21st Apr 2011 16:35

rather Off-thread, but any other previous V.A. CC re-apply and not get interview?

Sorry to be slightly off thread, but just wondered if anyone else had previously worked for VA as Cabin Crew, had left (been laid off?) re-applied and not even gotten an A.D.? I flew for a year with VA back in 2007, but had to leave for personal (& particularly :financial reasons): I decided to re-apply when they opened up recruitment again recently, did all the online assessments, then had to do the "personality" tests.... a couple of days later I received an email saying that my application was being taken no further! Maybe it's my ego, but quite frankly I was amazed: in the period since leaving, I was headhunted by various Luxury Brands, & have been working very successfully in customer services/sales for possibly the MOST prestigious Luxury retail brand worldwide; and whilst flying, I never failed to receive fantastic feedback from my peers/fellow crew...and garnered some wonderful assessments etc. Any other past crew re-apply and suffer the same insult? I'd be interested to hear.
