interview

hi
I was your advert in regards to your interview, how did it go. I was wondering if you know when your start date of training is, as I have been offered a position, but no info inregards to start date,am geting a bit worried.

Raj.

DJTibby 23rd Oct 2007 06:30

To me that is the best demonstration of team work anyone could ever give, After all team work is an important aspect of cabin crew so I think you will be fine if you explain that's the reason why you couldn't accept the first round offer. :ok:

keiranlgw 23rd Oct 2007 12:24

Hello rajinder,

I had my interview on August 8th and got told that day I had the job, I then got a call early September saying my course was to start on 5th November!

So don't worry they haven't forgotten you!

See you up there!

Keiran

Virgin Application help pleae

G'Day to everybody

I've encounterd some problem on my job hunting as a cabin crew, I've sent my application to Virgin and Just one day after they repleyed to me saying that i've been unsuccesful and I've to wait 6 months to try again,

Now I think that I might get something wrong in the aswer of question so I'm telling you what I've answered so some of you might help me out.

1)Please tell us briefly about a time when you were working in a customer facing role and you believe you provided an exceptional level of customer service

1r)
I was working as a front desk travel consultat in a Travel shop, a old day customer of that shop request me a special flight connection from Sydney to Madrid, witouth stop to much.

She was a little bit impressed about the long journey and I suggested her to take a couple of days as a stop over in Bangkok, so I took care about everything and find for her an hotel in the Thai capital city and organized for her all transfers between airport, when she came back she personally came to the shop and thank me for the suggestion.

I always took care of customers, because I think they are people up front

2)Please give us an example of a time when you were faced with a particularly angry or aggressive customer or colleague. In your answer, describe the circumstances, the emotions you experienced and your actions. We want you to particularly highlight the ways you displayed confidence and self belief, the decisions you took and why they were appropriate and to what extent you were able to continue to work effectively after the incident.

2r)
If I should tell about a similar situation I could tell when I was working as a front office Hotel Receptionist in a big Eviroment and We had problem between two families who stayed on the opposite room on the same floor.

The Family A woman come down at 2,00 in the morning screaming and complaining about the noise the family B made, she therating me and my collegue saying very crazy things, we called the room and asked the other guys to make less noise and we propse her to change the room, I was willing to give her a better and more expensive room but after we told the other family to stop noise the problem were sorted out without consequeses.

I use to deal with angry and upset customer with education and politness and trying always to understand the reason why they are in that emotional state, I think is very iportant before take any decision

when they've replied the said me that:
By Customer Service we mean the ability to show empathy, to proactively recognise what individuals are feeling and need, and to ensure customers receive great service.

By Courage and Decision Making we mean the ability to convey self belief and confidence, to take appropriate decisions, and continue to work effectively when faced with challenging situations and difficult people.

COULD SOMEONE HELP ME OUT FOR MY FURTHER APPLICATION????

InTheZone 31st Oct 2007 18:09

Aussie Pilot,

Although you have provided relevant answers to the questions im gonna take a wild guess and suggest that maybe it was due to the numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes in your answers...as there are quite alot of them and quite a few sentances dont make grammatical sense..Good Luck next time and if i were you i would use Microsoft word first to check your answers or have someone check you answers for you before sending your application again.

Best of luck.

VA

Hello everyone!

What an amazing site! Loads of info! I'm just about to send my application online. I was wondering if any of you did write the dates down in you work experience and qualifications since you don’t have any specific place to do so.

Do you guys think that VA still recruiting the same big amount of cabin crew as they were doing last year at this time? Or probably they did fill up all levels and they are just hiring a bit less?

Cheers! :ok:

Nicola1 13th Nov 2007 14:39

Hi Sharon

I applied for an interview with Virgin online after wanting to work for them for the past 15 years (i am 24). I applied on the Wednesday and got an email the following day inviting me to an interview on the 22nd August 07. I live close to Nottingham so i drove down the day before and headed off to the interview. I was really really nervous and didn't know what to expect. There were 5 of us in there and 2 were already working for airlines. When they were talking to each other i was totally lost with all of the jargen so don't let this put you off if you are in the same situation.

The staff at the base are all really really nice. All 5 of us went into a room with 3 Vigin staff. 1 was an older lady who is cabin crew and the other were 2 men who work for recruitment i think? First, the lady asked us a bit about ourselves, i.e. name, where we had travelled from, what we currently did for a living. I was the only one who said my surname as well as my first name so this may be a good thing. Next, we were given cards with writing on and we went through and read them out. I think here Virgin are looking at your speaking skills for when you have to do the in-flight announcements. Next, we were given a scenario to act out. Ours was that we had a 2 minute broadcast on the radio to plee to people to donate to a chosen charity. We of course chose the Virgin on-board appeal - Change for Charity. We made it fun but i sort of took the lead a bit without being over powering. Making sure everyone was ok with what they were doing and so on. Next was an interview. this should have been 2 assesors to each candidate but i just sat with the lady. this lasted about 20 minutes and wasn't too formal. I was asked where i had gone out of my was to deliver exceptional customer service and why i wanted to work for Virgin.

That was about it for the day. I left at 2pm, got back home at 16.45pm and had an email from them at 17.00pm saying i had been successful!

I am so over the moon. I start my training with them on the 14th January and cannot wait.

Basically, be professional but still show that you can have a laugh as they like to portray themselves a lot as a fun company.

All the best - it is very daunting but don't get too worked up so that you mess up on the day.

Let me know how you get on

Nic x

Nicola1 13th Nov 2007 14:42

Hi Red Lips.

I also have an induction on the 2nd January. I am trying to organise my uniform fitting on this day also as i live 180 miles away!!!

I have sorted somewhere to stay so that is 1 less thing to organise.

When did you have your interview? I had mine with 5 other people and am so curious to see if any of them got through?

Thanks

Nic

red lips 13th Nov 2007 16:53

Hi nicola i was on your interview day on the 22nd of aug, im glad you got it to wonder who else got itfrom our interview day?:D

Silver Angel 13th Nov 2007 21:41

Thanks for that info Nicola1 - gosh, you make it sound so easy, but I know it won't be for me. Good Luck to all Virgin wannabees! :ok:

Nicola1 14th Nov 2007 07:07

Hi Red Lips.

So go on - who are you?

Are you the girl who was in a skirt suit who is already cabin crew? Sorry, i have forgotton your name?

:O

red lips 14th Nov 2007 08:48

yes, its lauren had the red shirt on, who were you blk suit? brown hair?

Nicola1 14th Nov 2007 09:12

Yes, that's me. I remember you now you have said your name.

I wonder if any of the others got through? It would be nice to know if they had?

I'm so excited but scared at the same time. I know you are already in the trade but i suppose you will be learning all of Virgins procedures? I don't like the sound of the pass mark you need every day on the exams? What happens if you fail - do you get another chance? Also, i've heard we have to do a swimming drill at around 5am in the morning!!

When i left the base on the 22nd, i drove all the way back home (180 miles) thinking about the interview and wondering if i'd done enough. Got home about 16.45pm, popped into work as Virgin had my works email address, then i had the email at 17.00pm.

I went out all night celebrating drinking champagne!!

Hi,

I had my interview on 07th Nov and I got through-Yipee!!! Still can't believe it. I just wondered if anyone else got through that day? I'm waiting for a training course so fingers crossed they will confirm a date soon.

xxxxxxxx

Mr Pâté 14th Nov 2007 18:20

Hey Claire!
I had an interview on the 7th too. Mine was in the morning (at 9.30) and I got the job too!!! Woohoo! I'm just waiting on the start date too, but I spoke to the HR people the other day and said that the training for us will start in Feb and will let us know by e-mail as soon as they have a firm date for us.

Claire2 15th Nov 2007 10:55

Hi ya-yep mine was 9.30am too, I couldn't believe how many people were there!! That's wicked, at least we can get xmas out the way. We can keep each other informed by using this forum cause I know nearer the time I will need to sort out accomm for my course and I'm definitley up for sharing a place or sharing travel etc..if anyone is interested. Especially if it makes life easier and cheaper! I'm based in Reading at the mo.

Blastoderm 16th Nov 2007 18:23

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone knows whether Virgin currently have a maths test? I know they suspended it for a while.

I did apply once before and got through the group stage but failed the maths.
Thanks.

Mr Pâté 16th Nov 2007 19:16

When I went for my interview they did have a maths test, it's really nothing to worry about. It's just stuff like working out time zones, adding, subtracting. As I remember there were only 12 questions for the maths and 15 questions for the memory test. The best advise I can give for the maths test is to use the space that they provide to do your working out. Other than that it's stuff that can be done you just need to think about it and work it out.

Virgin group interview

If anyone could give me tips on how to pass the group interview stage, it would be much appreciated. I've been rejected for Cabin Crew jobs four times in a row,:{ I can't let this be the fifth...!

Wannabee book

Hi all,

Really new to all this. Finally decided to take the plunge and apply. Fingers crossed!!!

Just wanted to say to any other wannabee's that i found a really useful book that was about becoming crew at virgin & ba. Called 'The new Recruits Guide' and for those who dont really know what to expect is was really useful especially about the interview. its at www.glamguides.com

Helped me loads so just thought it might help someone else.

Hate the waiting around tho. How long have people waited to hear if they've got an interview???

missydk 27th Nov 2007 11:27

Hello all,

Applied for Virgin Cabin crew last week and I was wondering how long it takes for a reply?? The standard email said that they will go through the applications after the closing date but how do I check when that is?!

Cheers,
Missydk

CSA Training

Hi Everyone

Ive just been accepted to be a Customer Service Agent for Virgin after my 4th attempt, but i have been told that my details have been put on hold to till training dates come up in either January/February. Is anyone else in the same position as me ? Also does anyone no of any good places to stay in that area as i dont really wanna commute every day to Crawley.

Claire2 30th Nov 2007 16:26

Hi Babygirlxmelx,

I was on hold in Nov for cabin crew but I've just got a letter to advise that my start date is 4th Feb. Once you receive your offer letter, it actually advises a list of places to stay whilst you are on your trg course (it did in my offer pack).

Hi there
I have a friend in recruitment and they allow up to 15 spelling mistakes per application. I presume English is not your native tongue as the way you speak sounds to me European. I hope to not offend but next time maybe get someone to proof read your application before you subimit it.
Good luck next time around.:)

Mr Pâté 1st Dec 2007 20:36

Hey Claire, I got my start date and it seems we're on the same course!!! Do you also have your induction on the 28th Jan?
Do you know how many weeks the training is? I seem to remember someone saying it's 6 weeks, is this right?

Is there anyone else starting their CC training on the 4th Feb?

Claire2 3rd Dec 2007 17:05

Hi Mr Pate,

No my induction is 21st Jan, I wonder why we have a different induction day when our course date is the same, maybe there will be loads of new recruits? Yeah, I think it advises in the letter that the course is 6 weeks, just hope I pass!!

C

Mr Pâté 3rd Dec 2007 20:54

Hey just read the letter properly and it is on the 21st!!! How stupid of me.
I have a friend who works for virgin at the mo (Based at MAN) he remembers the tests during training to be managable, he said that you just need to over do the reading as you won't know what kind of questions they may ask so you should know the material back to front. Other than that you can't go too wrong if we work hard at it.

scotskenny 3rd Dec 2007 23:29

11th Feb Training ??????/

Hey !!

Anyone start their training on the 11th Feb ????

Kenny :ok:

Nicola1 4th Dec 2007 07:36

Hi Mr Pate,

Do you know what happens if you fail any part of your training? I've heard you get tested every day and have a minimum % to get - what happens if you don't get this? Are there only a certain number of times you can fail then you get chucked off the course?

Thanks
