Thanks for that. Yes I couldn't believe it. I passed it first time but decided I wanted a better score. Retook it and failed!! Ha. Let me know how your training goes. I start the week after, on the 8th. Keep in touch. x

Another Query

Very sorry but I am stuck on something else!

It says in the training that even on a half empty flight that passengers should not be allowed to move seats until the aircraft is up because of wieght. However, it also says later on that exit rows should always have at least 2 ABPs in them and that if there aren't then cabin crew should reseat them in these rows before pushback and prior to landing.

Does that mean that you are allowed to swap seats if you are an ABP?

Thanks to anyone who could possibly help.

SYD based

I take it know one knows how to apply to VA Syd Based??? Im really stuck:confused:

ABPs and reseating.....

Me again, back from work!
Rule of thumb is you shouldn't move pax about just because they want to in an empty cabin. They've been seated where they are due to weight and balance. However, if your exit rows are empty, you will need pax in them regardless of weight and balance. On this instance, you would move people to your exit rows so you have an ABP. If people start whinging and moving about, you just say you're free to move seats after take off!
I did it today with a passenger (albeit on a A319 and not a 747-400) One of our overwings was empty, so I just moved a guy across! Job done!

rocketscience - there is a rumour that the SYD base will close next year so doubt they will be hiring anyone.

You would be better off applying to V

redgirlcrew 28th Sep 2007 07:49

??

Ok here is a really stupid question. You are discussing weight and balance, is this done on an average PAX weight and seating plan? i.e average weight 10stone, 93 PAX so equal out within cabin?
As lets face it PAX come in a massive weight range.
Just curious how?

Thanks:confused:

weight issue

:ugh::ugh:i`m not sure of the answer just know i haven't been 10 stone since i was born happy flying:ok:

TINTIN25 1st Oct 2007 11:21

REDGIRLCREW They use standard passenger weights and average them out in the jet so you don't have to worry about any embarrasing moments having to step onto the scales like when you get onto a small cessna!

Virgin Blue SKy Girls

Do you have to be really good looking to work as Sky Girl with Virgin?

I have only seen beautiful girls and handsome guys working there?

Is this an un-written rule when hiring? There seems to be a huge preference to blonde sky girls for some reason? Isn't that discrimination?

redgirlcrew 4th Oct 2007 15:32

Just had to answer that one.
I am 43, brunette with occasional grey (gets quickly dyed) average looking & size 10 and just scrape in on the height.
I have wanted to be Cabin crew since I left school a very long time ago.

Other Airlines

Hiya guys!

Question for those that know...

A friend of mine had her Virgin Interview and was asked if she had applied to anyother airlines ( they told her it wasnt a trick question) she got kinda nervous and said no, although she had applied to 2 other airlines. Now the question is, Can they or would they actually check if she has?

Cheers!

kirsty23 5th Oct 2007 20:35

hi!

Just found this forum thing today.

I've got my interview on November 8th and was wondering - having just been thru it yourself, how it went?? I'm really not sure what to expect at all and would love some advice!!

Have you heard anything from them yet??

Assessment day October 26th

How did those get on who had recent interviews ? (some people went on Sept 25th)

I have mine in 2 weeks and I've been reading all the posts and through the VA website.

So with regards to Virgin Flair.... well I had an interview at Silverjet recently and didn't make it through to the 2:1. (I used the interview as a practice as I really want to be a Virgin), and I'm hoping that my bubbly personality wasn't right for Silverjet rather than my work experience.
See, during our group discussion the only 1 out of 9 people that got through was the quiet one.... we all had good ideas and I always have gotten through the group stage but I think the thing that worked against me was I didn't shut up! I like to chat and get excited and I'm hoping that this is what Virgin want to see in their CC.
So anyway I am not going to do anything different and hope that this time, my face does fit!!!
Best of luck to all others about to have an assessment day xx

interview

hya guys

i'v just had my interview date for nov 16th and was wondering if anyone had recently been through the recruitment process.. i need all the help i can get as i am really bad at interviews!!

if anyone can help me in terms of what the role play is, the analysis presentation and some questions that virgin may ask me at the 1:1 interview

thanks

Leezyjet 15th Oct 2007 22:54

Best way to get through the group stages is to be pro-active, but not overbearing in the group discussions, don't let your gob run away with you.

Say what you have to say, but also give others a chance to say their bit too, and if there is a quiet person in the group, get them involved - they love that.

Also accepting that what you said might not have been the best solution in the scenario and being able to admit that yes, there may have been a better way that someone else has come up with, and aknowledging that too.

:ok:

Virgin Atlantic - Re Applying

Hi Everyone,

I was lucky enough in December 2006 to be
offered a position with Virgin Atlantic as cabin
crew, due to work commitments I was unable
to take up my place on the training course.

I have regretted my decision ever since and
am wondering if it worth me re applying or
will I of been black listed and won't
have a chance of getting in again!!!!!!!

Any advice would really be appreciated.

I Just Want To Fly 21st Oct 2007 08:27

There are lots of rumours about the Black List, but I would be very surprised if they were true.

If I were a recruiter, I would still give you another go, but I would be very interested to know exactly why you were not able to take up our last offer.

You say work commitments. 99% of us had jobs prior to coming to VS, but after we were offered the job, we resigned and therefore no longer had "work commitments".

At the end of the day the answer is still simple. Reapply, and see what happens. But have a good explanation ready.

Good luck!

DAVY BOY 21st Oct 2007 15:40

The work commitment that I mentioned was something that came up
while I was working my notice period, before I handed in my resignation
I worked hard with the team at my branch to get a contract to work
with a new business customer. A week into my notice period I was
informed that we had won the contract which was amazing news for
my team, if I had left as planned this would of put the contract in
jeapody!! My company had been really good with me over the last 11
years and I had worked with a majority of my team for 8 years so I had
to put them before my dream and stay and handle the contract.

The contract is now working well & I can happily leave it in my teams
control.

Just really worried that I have thrown away my chances by
looking out for others!!!!!!!
