I had one a month ago, was successful and now in the holding pool :) What do you want to know?

What do you need to do to get an interview with BA cityflyer in Edinburgh?
 

I saw a job advertised on their website and decided to apply for it yesterday. 24 hours later, I got an email from their recruitment team saying it is unsuccessful.
I've asked them for some feedback, but I have yet to hear from them. They only need applicants to have GCSEs and I have a BA in French and an MA in Linguistics, but how come I'm not even good enough for an interview??!! I'm stunned.

What's your work experience like?

I had flying experience and got rejected after the interview...then got accepted by 'real' BA. So have a few other people I know.

I have to admit I don't have any flying experience, but you've got to start somewhere and their job discriptions did say they welcome experienced as well as new crew members. I have experience with adult students, enrolling them, advising them, assessing them and teaching them in HE.
If BA/cityflyer prefers experienced FAs, what airlines would I stand a better chance of getting accepted as a new FA?

Try British Airways and also try other Airlines.

I don't have any flying experience but have a lot of customer service experience, I don't know why they wouldn't be interested if you had previous flying experience. I did spend a lot of time on the application questions [the example stuff] and tried to put a lot of detail in there, maybe your examples there had a lot to do with it? My interview was for LCY though so maybe they are looking for slightly different things? Who knows.

Firstly, I don`t know you or read your application so this is a shot in the dark here, but mistakes that are made now days on application forms, cv`s ete..

BA relies heavily on application process on line.
Now I don`t know what questions they were/are asking but guessing customer service type questions, and asking this to be answered in x number of words. So if they want 100 words, they want 100 words, not 104.
They maybe looking for "key" words (not the standard helping with children babies and old people and I love ponies answer..:))

Next. Easy mistakes such as spelling and sentence which mean nothing and woffle on about your aunt in Australia.. your wondering now where`s this going? Exactly! So is the person reading your application.

If you knocked out your application in an hour then I doubt you would be successful. It needs careful planning, rough workings on paper, with possibly several attempts and over a couple of days as new ideas come into your head which could improve your answers.
Then type it out via the internet. But don`t send it straight away. Print it out. Read it though. Make any touch ups necessary, eg spelling, punctuation, capital letters, did you make any typo`s?
And the little favourite is the use of American spelling of words and text messaging shorting of words used in application forms.. erm no not good.

Sorry, cheap shot. A mate of mine applied recently and it took about two weeks to get a 'thanks but no thanks' email. Read into that what you will.

I thought they usually call people.

My understanding is you get called if successful, email if not at interview stage. I heard about two weeks after applying IIRC. Same method of contact after the interview as well.

When was your interview?

Mine was in mid April and I start in a couple of weeks for LCY though we've just been told the course is now in Edinburgh, and there's 6 of us going up from London. The last course started on 14 April, and there's another in a couple of weeks, so it was about a 4 month wait to hear and 5 months between courses.

does this mean that the general concensus with BA Cityflyer is a positive one ? I think that the current climate is one in which many of the smaller less affluent airlines are going to succumb under, its enlightening news that Cityflyer are taking on more pilots when the worlds other airlines, zoom, futura etc are going bust. What is the general opinion on how BACF will cope in the coming months??? I hope it is a positive one!!!
