Ba Cityflyer

Has anyone seen the bizzare job advertisement for BA Cityflyer on aviationjobsearch.com?????? Please someone tell me its a pi**take

Cheers

Cosmic Girl 16th Feb 2007 08:53

Yeah,i saw that too.Very bizarre!.......:hmm:

chickenfeed 16th Feb 2007 09:27

Er...why?

BA Connect is in the process of being sold to flybe, except the RJ100 operation. RJ fleet to be kept as a BA subsidiary to operate from LCY.

BA have registered it under the name BA Cityflyer. An unfortunate choice perhaps...

flyer55 16th Feb 2007 13:17

Yes its true thats the New name from 25th March LCY & EDI operations operating as that !

Virginia 22nd Feb 2007 10:25

So has anyone applied?

marlowe 22nd Feb 2007 10:33

Yea and have the job!!!

Virginia 22nd Feb 2007 10:36

Well done! I applied yesterday as I couldn't make it the Open Days. Are the T&C's ok? Will there be cabin tidies and emptying of loo bins?

teacoffee 22nd Feb 2007 10:57

Marlowe when did you find out?
Did they do the 2 to 1 interview the same day?

Location 22nd Feb 2007 13:48

Transport (LCY)

You guys applying for the LCY base ,
do most of you have a car and where do you live ?
As I'm west london (zone 1) , Just worried how I would get to City Airport for early starts and I don't have a car .

teacoffee 22nd Feb 2007 15:30

yes early starts maybe a problem if you need to take public transport esp if you are in west London. Good luck to everybody!

ba cityflyer open day

hi guys,

congrats marlowe on your job!

I went to the open day myself... (which i say could have been done by an online application!)

gave my application in the same day... when do you think i will hear from them? they said that interviews will be on tues and weds.. if i do get an interview.. what type of questions do they ask? the normal type?

teacoffee 23rd Feb 2007 10:01

Has anyone heard yet with regards to interviews?

Virginia 23rd Feb 2007 11:50

I didn't get a reply to my email sent Wednesday morning! Still waiting. I'd have to move up near LCY so I hope that wouldn't be too hard. I've lived in Zone 1 before. I wouldn't want to drive in London

Fingers crossed.

yes i heard...

have an interview on tuesday morning for senior crew... does anyone know what kind of questions they might ask?

teacoffee 23rd Feb 2007 17:30

hi how & when did you hear?

anotherspaceman 23rd Feb 2007 17:51

Dont know what q's they will ask but as long as you keep CP (Chief pilot & sh*gger of CC) 'happy' and don't tell his wife you should be ok! :ok:

flyer55 23rd Feb 2007 18:11

Nothing wrong with the name I used to work for the original based at LGW before it got bought for £70 million by BA . It had a good reputation !

in the sandpit! 24th Feb 2007 10:39

heard yesterday afternoon around 16.30... they told me that they were interviewing me for the senior position but would i also like to be put forward for main cabin crew too...

interview is on tuesday...

when did you apply?

in the sandpit! 24th Feb 2007 13:06

thanks... gonna need it...
yes they called me...said that the interview would be held at the same place and what time would be best for me...

any news yet?

teacoffee 24th Feb 2007 14:15

no nothing yet-fingers crossed though!
You said you went for senior crew-how much experience did you have to have?

marlowe 25th Feb 2007 12:24

As i said in previous post please do not mistake this company as "BA" its not!! it is a subsidary of them and as sutch the terms and conditions are not the same . Sure you will have the uniform etc etc but the company is just a spin off from the Flybe/Bacon merger, takeover, call it what you will!! As any BACON employee can tell you from bitter experience, you are only regarded as BA when they want you to be and held in low esteem at all other times ,harsh but true.please do not think that by joining this company it will give you a step into mainline because it will not there is no right of transfer between the two companies heck staff at LHR and LGW as a whole could not tell you much about cityflyer because it doesnt affect them, the same as BACON, BACX,BRAL,BRYMON all subsideries at one time or another in the BA group never crossed the collective minds of those bases. If you join Cityflier then join it for what it is a small subsidary of BA with 10 clapped out RJs and a lot of promises from management and not as the golden step into mainline.

in the sandpit! 25th Feb 2007 18:56

well i have two years as a senior...that seemed enough!

wish me luck!

teacoffee 26th Feb 2007 10:16

Has anyone else heard anything?

flyer55 26th Feb 2007 11:06

Hope it all goes well for you from an original ex BA Cityflyer ! The rjs not that bad to work on !

Interesting Read
Just read the article and yes a interesting read.

It all seems a bit weird. I know Cityflyer is going to be based out of LCY but you have to look at some of those routes. And Look at what happened to BACON, and the routes now sold to Flybe.
Is there a danger of Cityflyer being another flash in the Pan? I hope not for you guys.
The other danger is CityJet/Air Frances sudden big expansion in LCY
I hope cityflyer succeeds for you guys.

Location 10th Mar 2007 17:01

British Airways .

At the end of the day if you want to work for British Airways , You have to go for Mainline LHR/LGW .

All they have to do is pull the plug on there little adventure . I hope this does not happen but you know what the boss at British Airways is like :uhoh:

But saying that if I lived in East London , I would of applied " The Staff Travel is good " and the wage is better then LGW .

marlowe 10th Mar 2007 17:16

Location, wise words i was once told never to base a career on a BA franchise and if you wanted security then go for the mainline contract, alas that doesnt seem so secure these days If you are ground crew at BHX,MAN or EDI, those words sound rather hollow.

BACityFlyer 14th Mar 2007 09:54

"i was once told never to base a career on a BA franchise"

Marlowe, I would like to point out that BA CityFlyer is not a franchise of British Airways, nor was BA Connect/CitiExpress. All of these ventures are/have been wholly owned subsiduaries of British Airways.

tiggerific_69 14th Mar 2007 10:00

i think that is probably what marlowe meant.....i know that marlowe definitely knows citiexpress/connect/cityflyer were & are all wholly owned subsidiarys ;)

sadiegirl 14th Mar 2007 10:37

Hi, am due to start training with the new BA Ciryflyer on 26/3, have just found out the training is at LGW, was told it would be or partially be at LCY, is any one else training on 26th, and what are their thoughts, cos LGW is gonna be a pain, to travel to everyday, and expensive to stay down for 4 weeks, i thought if your training was off base, the company had to provide accomodation or an allowance, anyone any the wiser?

Location 14th Mar 2007 10:46

Hello ,
And Congratulations on getting BA Cityflyer a lovely lady who I work with at the moment has also got the job .

Now to your Question , If you had to get BA LGW I have been told BA would provide accomadation during SEP training at LHR . So I'm sure they would do the same thing just give them a call ...:ok:

sadiegirl 14th Mar 2007 10:51

Hi Location, and thanks for the info, will try and ask about accomodation, is your friend gonna be starting on 26th?, where will she have to commute to LGW from?, just spoke to another girl who is starting in April, and she was told no accomodation, so not sure what to do now....real pain. but hey thanks for the info, and wish your friend the very best of luck.
