Anyone?

Anyone that has been to BA Cityflyer for an interview recently - plz, PM me :)

racer09 15th May 2008 13:58

I had one a month ago, was successful and now in the holding pool :) What do you want to know?

Abermin 15th May 2008 15:26

What do you need to do to get an interview with BA cityflyer in Edinburgh?

I saw a job advertised on their website and decided to apply for it yesterday. 24 hours later, I got an email from their recruitment team saying it is unsuccessful.
I've asked them for some feedback, but I have yet to hear from them. They only need applicants to have GCSEs and I have a BA in French and an MA in Linguistics, but how come I'm not even good enough for an interview??!! I'm stunned.

Virginia 15th May 2008 16:24

What's your work experience like?

I had flying experience and got rejected after the interview...then got accepted by 'real' BA. So have a few other people I know.

Abermin 15th May 2008 16:33

Thanks for your message.
I have to admit I don't have any flying experience, but you've got to start somewhere and their job discriptions did say they welcome experienced as well as new crew members. I have experience with adult students, enrolling them, advising them, assessing them and teaching them in HE.
If BA/cityflyer prefers experienced FAs, what airlines would I stand a better chance of getting accepted as a new FA?

Flower Duet. 15th May 2008 17:06

Try British Airways and also try other Airlines.

Good Luck ;)

racer09 16th May 2008 07:54

Firstly please please please don't shoot me.........:ouch:

I don't have any flying experience but have a lot of customer service experience, I don't know why they wouldn't be interested if you had previous flying experience. I did spend a lot of time on the application questions [the example stuff] and tried to put a lot of detail in there, maybe your examples there had a lot to do with it? My interview was for LCY though so maybe they are looking for slightly different things? Who knows.

Good luck with wherever else you apply to! :)

georgiw 23rd May 2008 06:36

Hi can anyone from the EDI base provide an indication of a typical roster and average take home salary.

Thanks
Georgi

Tiger 23rd May 2008 10:21

Firstly, I don`t know you or read your application so this is a shot in the dark here, but mistakes that are made now days on application forms, cv`s ete..

BA relies heavily on application process on line.
Now I don`t know what questions they were/are asking but guessing customer service type questions, and asking this to be answered in x number of words. So if they want 100 words, they want 100 words, not 104.
They maybe looking for "key" words (not the standard helping with children babies and old people and I love ponies answer..:))

Next. Easy mistakes such as spelling and sentence which mean nothing and woffle on about your aunt in Australia.. your wondering now where`s this going? Exactly! So is the person reading your application.

If you knocked out your application in an hour then I doubt you would be successful. It needs careful planning, rough workings on paper, with possibly several attempts and over a couple of days as new ideas come into your head which could improve your answers.
Then type it out via the internet. But don`t send it straight away. Print it out. Read it though. Make any touch ups necessary, eg spelling, punctuation, capital letters, did you make any typo`s?
And the little favourite is the use of American spelling of words and text messaging shorting of words used in application forms.. erm no not good.

Hope this helps

Very good tips!

BA Cityflyer

Hi
Does anyhone know how long it takes to get answer after interview with BA Cityflyer based at LCA?
Thanks Dorota

VS-LHRCSA 12th Aug 2008 10:49

I didn't know they had a base in Larnaca.

Sorry, cheap shot. A mate of mine applied recently and it took about two weeks to get a 'thanks but no thanks' email. Read into that what you will.

ndorka 12th Aug 2008 10:52

LCY - London City Airport Upsss.... sorry for misprint
Ok thanks for info.
I thought they usually call people.

racer09 13th Aug 2008 14:12

My understanding is you get called if successful, email if not at interview stage. I heard about two weeks after applying IIRC. Same method of contact after the interview as well.

BA Cityflyer

Just wondered if anyone else has had an interview with BA city recently and been accepted but put into holding pool!

Is there any news on training course dates?

racer09 7th Sep 2008 12:44

When was your interview?

Mine was in mid April and I start in a couple of weeks for LCY though we've just been told the course is now in Edinburgh, and there's 6 of us going up from London. The last course started on 14 April, and there's another in a couple of weeks, so it was about a 4 month wait to hear and 5 months between courses.

97robem 10th Sep 2008 15:24

does this mean that the general concensus with BA Cityflyer is a positive one ? I think that the current climate is one in which many of the smaller less affluent airlines are going to succumb under, its enlightening news that Cityflyer are taking on more pilots when the worlds other airlines, zoom, futura etc are going bust. What is the general opinion on how BACF will cope in the coming months??? I hope it is a positive one!!!

Ba Cityfly

hi guys, can anyone tell me how much a cabin crew take home monthly on working in ba city from london city airport??
I have 2 diffrent jobs to choose, of course money is a big factor...help me pliz...

u can email me if u wish...
thnx

marlowe 10th Sep 2008 18:52

97robem unlike the airlines you have just mentioned, BACityflyer is owned by British Airways and so it could be looked on as safe from the economic factors in the airline world at the moment . BUT well, its a subsidary and so it is always open to the whims and ideas of Mainline management . google some names like Brymon, Bral, Bar,Citiexpress BAconnect and that will give you some idea of where the mark 2 Cityflyer emerged from, and the recent history of the company. My personal opinion is that Cityflyer has a role to play in the BA setup wether it is as a subsidary or incorporated more into the mainline setup, but who knows? One things for sure its never a dull moment with them!

marlowe 10th Sep 2008 19:27

well you got the name of the airline wrong and you cant spell please, has that helped? If you are talking about BAcityflyer then as main crew your take home would be somewhere between £1100 to £1500 per month once finished training and the trips start showing in your wages, if you are refering to Cityjet then cant help.

Ba City

THNX MARLOWE, I MEANT BA CITYFLYER....THE INFOS YOU PROVIDED ARE MORE THAN COMPLETE AND HELPFUL...
TAKE CARE:ok:

sweetie76 13th Sep 2008 16:48

my interview was at the beginning of August so l doubt i will have a start date until the new year but thank you for the information because Cityflyer have been very vague with me.

look forward to starting

racer09 13th Sep 2008 18:01

You might find that in general, just have to be patient, it was nearly 3 weeks between the "your contract etc will be sent tomorrow" and it actually being received.....fingers crossed the wait is worth it! :)

racer09 26th Sep 2008 20:02

Heard a rumour there will be another course in November - no idea if this rumour has any substance, where it will be, or anything - as I said it is only a rumour.

sweetie76 28th Sep 2008 10:10

Well that would be a great rumour if true, It has been confirnmed to me that l will be in the next training group when available course dates arise.

Fingers crossed it may be soon! Keep the rumours coming :p hope the training is going well for you

HZ123 28th Sep 2008 17:31

It is nice to see that BACX keeps the mainline BA traditions and informative style ;-'Cityflyer have been very vague with me'. If only they could get some of the important things right.

Cityflyer Questions.

Hi, im thinking about applying for Cityflyer out of London City, could anyone tell me what the rosters are like and how much you earn a month? I used to fly with Emirates but moved back to the UK, i really miss flying but dont want to be away from home alot so would be really helpful if someone could let me know about rosters.

Thanks

sweetie76 27th Dec 2008 16:27

Still no update on start date for london city base, anyone else in a waiting pool for them?

VVIP-FA 29th Dec 2008 13:01

BA CityFlyer

Seasons greetings Sweetie76

I am in the holding pool for EDI but only had my interview in DEC 08 so not been waiting long at all...

Not expected to start till after Jan 09 has not been confirmed as yet...

Cheers

VVIP-FA

sweetie76 30th Dec 2008 15:09

Thank you for the update, seems that EDI base tend to have more training courses, do keep me updated.

Hope you start soon, happy new year!

marlowe 30th Dec 2008 15:15

The view is that the EDI base keeps its crew longer than the LCY base due to various factors ,so its better to recruit there than LCY,

racer09 3rd Jan 2009 12:24

I think a large part of the wait is that LCY is apparently overcrewed.....

Also, with the new aircraft [due to start phasing in Sept 09] requiring 2 crew on both aircraft types rather than the current 3 on the RJ100 and 2 on the RJ85, that may play a factor?

sweetie76 4th Apr 2009 16:41

Still in the holding pool for cityflyer, anyone else waiting for a training course?

VVIP-FA 4th Apr 2009 18:07

Still waiting for EDI as well!

sweetie76 4th Aug 2009 18:12

Anyone started training with these guys recently or has it all gone dead. Its been a year since my interview and heard nothing from them since January!

VVIP-FA 7th Aug 2009 10:22

Hope your well 76!

Still no news..........!

Going to call HR will let you know the score ASAP..

Cheers VVIP-FA

Training courses

Hi Guys.
I work for Ba cityflyer and have been for over a year. I know there are definatly talks of recuritment as eventually they will need crew, as people here are on the waitlist for going down part time and for pursers. I heard this may all occur in Spring, so fingers crossed things will pick up them, so within the next 6mths I hope you will be given courses. But you should be first in the pipleline before they recurit again! xx:) hope the wait is not too long!
