Alright maybe that is why? The medicals are very basic and if the Dr had any concerns I’m sure he/she would have mentioned something to you while conducting the medical. I would not worry about it. I did hear today that between July and August there would be 150 going through to Ground School. Fingers crossed the internal flyers such as myself hear something soon as well. Keep us posted when you have a definite Ground School start date!

Hi, does anyone know if you put Sydney as your first preference but you don’t currently live in Sydney do they provide accommodation during training or do you have to move prior to commencing training? Thanks 😊

if Sydney is the base that you are hired for then accomodation is not provided while in SYD. Accomodation would be at your own expense.

hi, Dreamfly22. I’m on the same boat and when I was contacted by Qantas HR, she said I’ll be in the GS group where all batch members are language speakers, and I need to submit advanced level certificate. I speak Korean and Korean is not one of the languages Qantas prefer but they said I still need to get level 4 certificate. There’s no official Korean language test until Oct/Nov, so I emailed QCCA with my graduate certificate from Korean university I attended and I asked if that could replace the test. She said she will discuss with management but I haven’t heard anything yet.

Medical

Hi guys! Question for anyone who has done their medical recently, do you still need to do 15 pushups? If So, how strict are they on form? Do you need to them with good form? I'm worried i can't do them properly!!

Hey likeaboy17!
Have they contact you back about it? They are normally very nice about things, I’m sure it will be fine.

Good new Ive booked in for my test tomorrow. Hoping to pass it! Apparently it’s very hard 😅

Not yet! My feeling is that they'll wait for the majority if not all the new starters to have their medicals and security cleared and then start contacting us. I could be completely off, but it's just a thought haha

I don’t think they contact anyone to let them know that they passed their medical. In this case it’s a good thing not to hear from them. I believe if anybody doesn’t pass their medical it’s usually due to the Dr needing more information about “whatever” the issue may be and they are usually contacted straight away to provide additional information or resubmit. Otherwise no news is good news. At least this was the way it was done years ago unless something has changed. Just curious for those doing language exams, was this a prerequisite for you? What are the languages you speak?

hi, Dreamfly22 Yes, they’ve contacted me and they said my recruitment will be progressed into non-language speaker group and I can submit certificate later to be recognised as language speaker. Thank you for your message and good luck with your language test. What other language do you speak may I ask? 😃

thats good to hear. I hope I’ll pass it 😅 I speak too many languages and sometime got mix up.

Other than English I speak Thai, Lao and Vietnamese. But I’ll only do 1 test as the cost to sit the test is so high 😅
