cabin-gal.. you'll do fine.. don't be too nervous =) the assessors make the day really fun so that everyone feels at ease. they all went through the same thing at one stage so they know exactly how it feels.. just enjoy the day cos once you do get through it'll be lots of waiting (for most) and tough training after that!
good luck =)
and congrats to cabincrew88! hope to see you around at the training centre

Hi,
Does anyone know what sort of hours you would be likely to average each month as a MAM casual?
I have an interview next week and would love to be a flight attendant.
However I am worried about how much money I would be potentially earning.

At the high hourly rate they pay, money shouldn't be an issue (once you get through training ofcourse!). The minimum number of hours they can give you per month is 80, but that would mean an entire month on reserve without being called out once, which is unlikely. My last roster ended up being over 130 hours.

I myself am up to the reference stage and it was hard to find a references(ex bosses. That's the last time I worked elsewhere) from 10+ years ago and my current managers, well I really don't want them to know I am doing this. If I don't get through this with MAM, I might miss out on a promotion if they get wind I am trying to get a job elsewhere. Can someone tell me how important are old references?
Anyway, I hope that my ex managers are kind with my verbal references and hope to get past to the next stage which I believe it's a panel review. Can someone also explain what that involves? After the panel, what do we have to wait for?
I thank you all. I hope that one day, I am able to meet someone at 32000ft

I had my medical at Sydney Jetbase, the cost was around $240. You can also go to a doctor in the city (I think Market st) but they charge around $300. Have all vaccination documents ready as it might speed up the process. I received my Golden call only 3 days after my medical.
Good luck

I have been invited to the RD this Thursday in Melbourne! I thought I may have been too late getting my application in as it seems a few ground schools have already started/been planned.
I was holding out for QCCA A380... But it seems there is 0 going on there at the moment! (Even though an employee told me they are 400 crew short!)
Wish me luck! I have not been to a RD since I started at my current airline (Many years ago)

Good Luck CC Skyqueen...!!!! I have had my references checked and now at the panel review stage... Is that tough? One of my referees called me to tell me they were quizzing him about 15 minutes with him and he gave a good verbal reference.

Hi All!
I've been looking into ads for Melbourne based recruitment and was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of Questions for me - people who are currently crew for Mam Melbourne base or know reliable information.
I've had friends who are cabin crew before and I know that rosters are highly variable, but I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the types of flying MEL base currently recieve. For examples, typical overnights per months, Typical sectors, whether or not there is any international trips etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once again, I know if changes person to person month to month but some idea of someone else's experience would be appreciated.

I don't know how much your references weigh. Mine were perfect, even one who's wife is a flight attendant for Qantas and he let the MAM person know and she (MAM rep) said to him 'Oh? so you know what type of person is required for this job and still I got knocked back. Sorry...don't mean to be negative. Just trying to understand how I got this far with solid references and yet not get through. Good Luck Cassie Fly Girl!

Rocky181 - Did you get asked to go for a medical? Just wondering, as if they send me for a medical perhaps that would mean they were happy enough with my references? Thanks.
