Benefits?there are none . Well I lie, after 12mths you get 2 discounted flights. High hourly rate, meal break penalty.
Overnights: You get between 0-12 a mth. Time spent varies between 10hrs and 36hrs. (10hrs is the minimum rest for ports where theres no cabin crew base) when on an overnight the DTA continues and is tax free.

I do know virgin do more overnights, time spent is roughly the same as Qantas. Virgin dont get a DTA allowance they get a set rate of $108 per overnight tax free.

Carguard, in terms of overnights I think it just depends on your base. I'm in Sydney and in the just under two months I've been flying I've had approx 22 overnights, with only 1 day trip. This means a good portion of my pay cheque has been tax free.

From my understanding, Sydney base can often get a lot more overnights than other bases, and it varies from roster to roster. Minimum rest on a layover for me has been 12 hours. The longest I've had was 28 hours (which was before the red eye back to Sydney).

They gave no specifics at all. Just said there'd been a delay and they had to change my starting date. I have no idea if it's going to be the same for the whole group or not. See if you hear anything Mon or Tues. If not and you're worried, call and ask them. They're very friendly

Nathlad have you got your package in the mail? I haven't yet, so if you've got yours maybe you are still in the April 11th intake.

Hi Nathlad Like Cassie said, I was given the same explanation that training would be postponed till the 2nd of May. Cassie, I got told we would receive the package a week or two before training commences. Don't worry if you haven't receive your package as yet.

Just had my dental X-ray. Does anyone know if they make you have your wisdom teeth out? Someone (not in the industry) told me they do but no idea if that's true!

Cassie, I was wondering why an OPG is required. It could be for other reason? Does anyone know what time GS will start and finish? I was reading earlier it could finish at 2am/3am is that true?

Cassie - i dont think they make you take them out.. no reason why they should.. i still have 2 of my wisdom teeth and a lot of classmates still have theirs so nothing to worry about!

FutureQFA - the opg is to identify you in case of.... =/ sounds scary doesnt it! and the time for ground school varies! i was lucky.. my GS i had very good times with most nights we finished before 11. there was only once we finished at 12:30 and another time at 2am. Another group who was on the same time as me started almost everyday at 4-5pm and always finished after midnight!

OPG is for identification reasons just incase theres nothing but bone and teeth left . GS is varied, dont expect it to be like a typical job. Mine was all over the place. We often finished later in the evening, had a few late ones like between 12am-2am finishes. Oh and a terrible 1. 10pm start 6am finish!!!

Yep I knew the "real" reason for the OPG already, but thanks guys hopefully they can stay put as I'm too scared to have them out! Haha.

Thanks for the clarification mangowaffles and Danfromaus I had a feeling it was for identification purposes, but thought it would've been for other purposes as well.

Sounds there's a variation in starting time :/ I guess I'll be rushing to get my P's now before Training School starts.

Mangowaffles and Danfromaus. When did you start GS and when did you start flying? Did you have a break from the time you graduated from GS and start flying? Is it a good idea to have a break before starting GS? As I've been told it's very intenstive.

yeah, if you're from sydney.. its best to have transportation there and home as it'd be a little tricky trying to get public transport home at 3am

my ground school finished on a wednesday (got my roster the same day) then i was online on saturday (so 2 days off) some people in my group had flights right away on saturday.. others like me got airport reserve so it varies!

i actually didnt find ground school that tough... i think it was just because i had great trainers and they made everything so clear to us therefore we found everything quite easy

in my opinion, i think its better to start flying right away after GS finishes.. cos then everything is still fresh in your mind and you can just get into it right away!

good luck!!
