Have you guys logged into your Virgin profile on the careers site. Tells up there where you're at in the process when you click view application.
Mine has changed regularly whilst going through the process. Changed when refs were being contacted and is now 'application under review'.

I know it's oly a rough guide but if it's still on 'assessment day invite accepted' then that is still the step before ref checks so they haven't notified you of the next step yet or outcome. Maybe you will hear soon.
If you're unsuccessful this status usually changes first I've found previously with other people.worth a look. As I've said it's only a rough generalized guide. Nt anything to base 100% everything on

Thanks Sydneysider88, my status is still showing 'Assessment Day Invite Accepted' so maybe my results either haven't been entered yet or a decision has not been finalised. Will keep checking though for a rough idea on what is happening.

Don't know yet. I'll check at the end of the week. Won't get hopes too high for a quick response as they're probably busy with applications. When i Hear I hear

But they've been on time so far. Although someone has said on this thread before if they're checking a refs and contacting you it's usually a sign you're in unless refs arent good. Who knows.

I won't get too excited till I'm booked into a GS. that's when I'll take it as getting it. Never know I guess.

I hope Virgin are taking the time to let us all know where we stand, it's fantastic that you have made it through, I just would like to know what my results are from the interview, good or bad so I can move forward too. It's one thing to be waiting for progress when you know that you have passed all of their tests so far, for me it is a very anxious waiting period, at the end of which could be the wonderful news you have had, or horrible news that I have been unsuccessful.

It would be nice to know if Virgin lets the unsuccessful people know first or last but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to how the recruitment operates.

As insincere as it might sound, I would be really appreciative if anyone who got through to the final interview on the assessment day could tell us if they have been told that they were unsuccessful. It might give some sort of pattern to the recruitment process so far. Although I suppose you can never really know where you stand until they tell you.

Hey Sydneysider,

Great info, thanks for that. I checked my online status and it's still saying the AD invite, so hope that's a good sign for me too

I've been with 2 airlines now and I agree with Marcus.. Usually when you get through all the way to reference checks, you are in... Unless your references give you a bad wrap.. But no one puts down someone as a reference unless they knew they would get good praise from them... So I think you have a good shot now! Good luck

I am not worried about my references giving me a bad wrap at all.
So hopefully its a good thing, but like I said wont get too excited till i actually sign a contract or get offered a GS date, never been in this industry and know the recruitment process takes time and can be futile. Hopefully this gets the ball rolling a bit sooner, and that them advertising and checking refs etc means a GS is coming up soon.

But I am still very VERY happy to have gotten this far, even to and AD.

I believe the current job posting is domestic and upcoming ADs are domestic also.

Hi All!
Have been reading this thread and the earlier version to try and get an idea of what I should expect regarding this exciting process! I've applied for a CC position with BNE base through the Virgin Australia website but there was no closing date on the applications - it just said it opened in November 2011. Is this just an open 'cattle call' so to speak? It was under the 'Campaigns' tab. Would I be right in saying it will be at least 4 weeks before I hear anything either way?

Just for a bit of background info - I have previously been invited to attend an AD in Sydney (18 months ago) but due to family circumstances had to shift back to Brisbane and therefore was unable to attend. Was very disappointed and after 18 months in a job I dislike, I've decided it's time to get back to achieving my life goals. I'm very hopeful for an invitation in the coming weeks good luck to all waiting also! Would love to hear from anyone in my position or similar.

Reference checks can go either way..I had two fantastic reference checks, and then got told about 6 weeks later that they didn't meet their criteria?..No idea what happened, but I thought I would have been in if I got through to the reference stage..but didn't..

To everyone waiting, just try not to get your hopes up, because you may just get an awful shock..

Applying for Aussie (virgin Australia)

Hi guys.

Iam planning on returning to Melbourne to live in 12 months time, and want to keep my flying career going(currently a cabin manager for easyJet).

How hard is it to get into Virgin in Australia, what is the usual waiting time for hearing about applictions(should I apply prior to leaving the UK).
What's the starting salary?
Any info would be appreciated.

I know tashopeful. That's why I'm not going to get excited till I actually get the job if I get it. I know even good ref checks can not make the cut.
As I know what it can be like!

See what happens.

time from apply maybe like 2 - 3 weeks til getting invited to a interview.
but some ppl applied long ago, so u will have 2 see.
overseas exp is good i think, depends on the recruiter. think easy jet is good as its a diswcount airline, even know virgin is one too but they have jsut intoduced a business class thingy.

Process can take weeks to get to AD, weeks and even months after that. Make sure you have ALL the time in the world to wait

Virgin is no longer in*the market as a low cost budget carrier, they do have deals. But with their game change program are catering to get a share of the business/corporate traveller.*

Read up and learn about the company a bit and if it suits you before applying. The more knowledge the better, as you get to learn more about a perspective employer and see if their values meet yours.*

But like any airline, be prepared to wait and wait.*
Although the process has gone quickly for me (3wks) so far. But that is because we only had one AD for SYD international base.*
See how it goes.*
