Hi Sophie,

Only one reference was contacted and that was about a week and a half after the assessment day.

Im not sure if you get an email if you are unsuccessful sorry and im not sure how many people went through to medical stage from the assessment day.

How long ago did you do your assessment day?

Don't lose hope.

Altara/Jetstar casual cabin crew training is ruthless and seems quite unorganised. If you escape with your self esteem in tact you will be doing well. All this for a job that doesn't even pay well, no benefits, nothing.

Training

Hi everyone, i've been with Jetstar for almost 2 years and the training when I started was 6 weeks. This has now been cut to 3 week's so as you can imagine their standards have dropped. You will find once you start it will take a further 3 weeks to know your ding-dongs from your ping-pongs leaving us full-timers to pick up the slack. If you find crew a little stand offish don't take it personally.

Just take it upon yourself to ask if you don't know, otherwise you will find yourself reported. Believe me this is happening, once you've gaduated this doesn't mean youve passed. A little advice for you all.

Goodluck and hope to see you all soon

I don't think any of my referees have been called yet, I am a little nervous...

I work for Altara/Jetstar and they told us our references would get checked the week after our interviews, but took more like a month. Just remind your references to let you know as soon as Altara have contacted them.

jennylee,

my recruitment day was on the 2nd of august. i rang altara the other day to check up on the situation with references and they have only just started calling references for SEQ so we will see what happens.

to everyone else who has recently been to a RD and are waiting for reference checks, when i rang altara they said that they are going down the list in alphabetical order.....my last name starts with m so i'll be right down the bottom, and they said that as they go down the list, if all reference checks cannot be contacted thats where it stops until that person can be contacted and then they take their time to work down the list again. its really silly....damn it!! oh well....hopefully they should be done towards the end of this week!!

trying not to lose hope as i want this REALLY bad!!

although it doesnt supply benifits etc. i want this job for the simple fact of getting my foot in the door..its casual, yes, but you are allowed as many days as you like, i feel that the job pays extremely well... $21 something on ground and an extra $10 when you are in the air, so i feel it's quite a good pay they do seem a tiny bit un-organised but thats how the bigger companies work....altara have actually had to recruit more people to do the reference checks as they cannot do it themselves. i dont mind waiting as long as i get the position in the end

Altara Interviews for Jetstar Cabin Crew

Hi all,
I did my assessment day on 5 Aug 2010 in SEQ and got through the whole day of assessment (to the 2nd interview that is when they called me back) however I am a bit concerned about the wait now as it is getting into 3 weeks without any feedback/letter of success and unsuccess/letter. They said at the assesment day that it will take them 2 weeks for reference checks though none of my references have been contacted.
So has anyone else been on standby?
have Altara already chosen their candidates for medical and asic testing?
Or does Altara send letters of confirmation or unsuccessfulness.

I anticipate that there are many others wanting to know where they stand too right?
Any advise or information or news would be awesome
Thanks ya'll

Still Waiting...

4 weeks and still waiting for a response for the Altara Jetstar contract. If references are not available why don't they email them first to see if they can talk? Just a polite suggestion.

Sounds like more staff are needed to assist.

I know they are busy but I wonder if anyone has walked away from the opportunity because, the initial process is taking too long and have been offered other employment?

I went for my RD in March, finally got a successful email in late April, and then was notified in June to start GS at end end of June. Don't stress, Altara are EXTREMELY busy at the moment, they can't even answer the questions of current staff let alone potential candidates. And you're right, they have recently employed more people to keep up. Sit tight. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I don't know about anyone else but I got invited to attend the assessment centre for JQ casual cabin crew in Sydney on September 10th.

Anyone else here got one too?

By the way, I have to say this thread has been very helpful to prepare for the interview. I just had a friend be sucessful in the last round of interviews so he has been able to give me an insight of what to expect.

My first month (this month) I had only 4 shifts which really got me bummed, but then the rosters came about for Sept and I have 10 flying days and 11 on call which I'm stoked with ... so it's good at the moment and will hopefully get even better with the arrival of new aircraft!

they said that with the new aircraft coming in december and also christmas (obviously) we'll be on all the time as thats when all the full timers want time off, which will be great!! but i suppose the more experienced we get the nmore hours they will give us they know we can do it all on our own etc.

KTL - yeah!! we'll keep in touch for sure!!
