tattoo

Hi Chavienne,

Small tattoo perhaps might not be a big problem 'coz that could still be covered up. Simply, just go to any tattoo maker (expert one) and ask him to cover your tattoo (wherever it is) - i think he will just apply permanent color same with your skin!!!... (i know someone can do that hahahaha).

Hope this might help you....update me once done

Chavienne

hi,
i have a friend who left out her tattoo on her hand in the interview and was worried what would happen when she joined. what she did was the weeks prior to joining had it removed. its a process and painful but helped in the end. its not having the tattoo that going to be seen as the worst thing its the fact that you didn't tell them. good luck.

Panty hose on flight

Hello everyone

I'm Jenny, a 20 year old fa wannabe. I'm just completing 2 years on the front desk at a major London hotel and am now looking to follow my childhood dream and apply to be cabin crew.
I hope you don't laugh at my question, but are there rules about pantyhose or tights on flights? I understand bare legs aren't an option, but have never worn tights as they seem so unhygenic and itchy. Are the alternatives ok or is it a rigid rule?

Thanks in advance

Jx

hi, you can wear hold ups (the ones with the sticky tops to keep them on!) tights are much cheaper but at least you only have to change one leg if it ladders haha

Once I was walking through Frankfurt Airport when the sticky bit on my ( cheap) hold ups gave up the ghost. Had my cabin bag in one hand and suitcase in the other and the &*^( thing kept coming out. Had to hide behind a post and remove the offending hold up. The pilots were pissing themselves.

Forget hygiene/forget itchiness/ forget appearance.

I got so sick of the cost and inconvenience of going through a pair every flight. (MINIMUM) So now I just buy the baddest highest denier stocking I can get my hands on. C&A have a 70 denier pair with a shimmer that kinda look like the ones that the hooters girls wear. But I can get up to 10 flights outta those bad boys!!

Pay

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. Approx how much do you get for cabin crew when you first start off? Obviously all airlines will vary but i'm hoping it's not like 18k lol...

chavienne, after being in the airline industry for many years (and in several different countries) I can tell you that the chance anyone would know that you said 'no' to the tattoo questions would be very small. I doubt ground trainers would have access to your application form or interview notes. I've worked as a ground trainer and never had access to this type of information.

You will soon find out that in the airline industry the right arm has no idea what the left arm is doing!

As long as it can't be seen when you are in uniform I don't think you will have anything to worry about. Have fun

In Australia it would not be an issue at all. I don't know about the Philippines unfortunately.

Angel

Guys, I am in kind of dilemma!

I have attended Final Interview in Monday in Bratislava, and I am from Belgrade.. I still didn't send them the photos, as they said that it is no problem to send them these days, so I will tomorrow.

But! Just now I went to my account at their website and I read that my application is under review.

How is it possible that it is already "under review"? And how come that this status is with my online application which I made in September 2009? (In that time I attended OD and I didn't pass the cv fase.)
Does this refer to the Monday FI I had?

Please, explain this to me... if you know.

My recruiter said to me that it isn't important that I'm not much experienced, that I'm trying and that is what matters. I said that I love this job very much and that I think I would be great flight attendant, so she answered that she sees that and that she liked me.
Is this good? Does the person who gets those kind of comments ussualy get through?
I don't know what to think about that and I don't want to be too enthusiastic about it. I'm so nervous.
I cried few tears in the elevator after the meeting from the excitment and stress. :P

I was honest and natural at the interview.

aaaaaahhhhh

20+ years retail - Career change to Cabin Crew (39)

Hello from Manchester, UK - an out Irish gay male living alone with no partner or children with a valid Republic of Ireland Passport, 39 years old, living and working in Manchester since 2002, I have been in retail for over 20+ years (my parents choice, not mine, as my parents were totally opposed to my doing other than retail and made me leave school early to get my first retail job without promotion in that first company) - I would trust that given your experience in the aviation sector that you would be able to help me in my attempts to change career, as although I had initally thought of becoming a pilot, I was told by most flight training schools that I would be considered too old by most airlines to become a pilot, so becoming Cabin Crew would be an alternative at my age - apart from Manchester, I would ideally like to be based either at Manchester or elsewhere in the UK or Ireland, with positioning flights to my base airport (if not Manchester) - I wonder about some of these training courses for cabin crew I have seen advertised online (most of my educational qualifications are in Ireland and its an aspect of the UK system I dont understand) but wonder if these cabin crew training courses are any good...? I thought the airlines train thier crews from scratch anyway, without reference to these courses as a requirement...? I am currently awaiting a reply from Aer Lingus to be based at either Dublin or London Gatwick, but I dont have an up to date list of any of the airlines currently flying to/from Manchester/other UK airports that are currently recruiting...? some of the sites I have seen have either out of date vacancies, require you to register onto thier cabin crew training course or have a requirement to register with thier recruitment agency without being airline specific...which airlines should I avoid...? Thank you in advance for any help - Michael xxx

SYD Base

Hi All,
I was wondering what airlines (other than Australian carriers) have Cabin Crew bases in Sydney.

Also, other thing - does anyone know of or when any of the airlines will be recruiting for SYD base?

About 3 weeks for basic training.

Week 1 basic training - safety equipment, drills, etc.
Week 2 type rating maybe also fire and first aid
Week 3 practicals - swimming / door opening / written tests / CRM / flight limitations, self defence etc.

Then week 4 plus would be service routines, customer service etc.

Most courses are a bit mixed and matched depending on 3rd party availability such as swimming pools / aircraft mock-ups / fire trainers and so on.
