Assestment Day 20th Feb

I had my assessment today and met some really great people. I was a bit confused because myself and 3 others were kept behind to fill out some forms and I gave them my passport photo's and they photocopied my passport and P45. I wasn't sure whether this was done for everyone else?

Wow, the assessment sure has changed. Back in the early 90's when I was recruited, you had 2 group assessments (15 of you planning a trip for an american family onboard..lol) then the party scene, where 3 of you would have to socialize, and you were marked on that. You had a basic maths exam, and then another exam, which escapes me right now as to what it was. Before the assessment, they would place decoys in the waiting room who would be watching you, and listening to your conversations with other applicants. As well they also did the weigh in to determine if you were height to weight proportioned.

The first call back would be for the 2:1 on a different day.

If successful in the 2:1 you would then be called back for the medical, which included a dental exam and HIV test. On the same day you would do a language exam (then you had to speak a European language).

After all that you would wait like a month or so before being offerred the post.

It took me 8 months total to get on with BA!!!!

Hi JB88... how did your assessment go?... I'm dying to know. Everyone is talking about who is being kept back etc and how long in the holdpool - but like you I want to know what was the maths test like etc?
What were the topics for the presentation/group interviews etc? I'd really appreciate it if you could pass on any info... nobody seems to want to pass on this info. Hope you were successful...747girl. (Was the maths really hard?)

Hi,

Can anyone confirm what documents you need to bring with you on the day? I had my assessment confirmed and have logged back on to BA Jobs, but I can't seem to find a checklist of what's needed?

I assume passport, P45 etc etc?

Hey Lucy.

I recently spoke to a crew member at LHR base and was told that there is a MASSIVE hold pool for BA as there are HUNDREDS of internal applicants waiting to join their Cabin Crew operations. She made it very clear that internal apps get priorty- went on to say that most of their temp. contract crew have and in the process of having their contracts withdrawn and not renewed until further notice as they are trying to down size their crew to save costs.

I know this news sounds totally negative but I must share it with you as its important you keep your options open.

Please share any other insider info that may support or disagree with these comment.

No Hold Poolers Joining (except ex-temps) For Forseeable Future

Sorry all, but this is a direct quote from BA/BASSA yesterday.

"Apart from the following courses, all future new entrant courses have been put on hold. During May there will be 3-4 NE courses planned for WW LHR on 11 month temporary contracts. These crew will be previous 11 month temporary crew returning for a further temporary contract."

I don't understand why they're checking references then. Seems like a waste of time and resources to me.

I am currently employed by BA as crew. There is a massive BASSA meeting next week where the members will be presented with the proposals that BA want to bring in. The new fleet is what BA want to set up and the holding pool is for crew for this fleet. The difference in pay and conditions is a massive reduction from those that cabin crew at BA currently have. Some of these conditions are unbelievable. Please remember this when applying for the holding pool.

Sevenmiles Up; Seems easy your proposal but I can assure you that iit is not. The logistics of contracting / CRC / Staff and funding for courses is a complex issue. It is common knowlege that there is a pool of expectant possible NECC but it may be that many of the T and C's allude to the future contracting of CC for the A380 fleet. Granted there will be a number of changes for the immediate future but Senior Management are also well aware of the excellent job our CC do they just find it difficult to admit it. Whatever the outcome of next weeks meeting I doubt there will be much evidence of it until well into 2010.

Contracts and pay

Hi guys

I've been following the forums with great interest over the past couple of months as I was successful at interview early February. I understand that contracts and conditions are changing to become more in line with other airline pay scales (in addition to making cost savings for BA), but what I'm really interested in finding out is the expected annual salary for the new contracts.

I know it's probably really hard to estimate but I really want to know if I can afford to do this. I'm really keen and interested but I'd prefer not to be keen, interested and poor!

Hope someone has some intel for the newbies like me???

Cheers.
