Training is usually 5-6 weeks, Monday to Friday, depending how much they want to fit into the training plus trainer and classroom availability. This is not absolutely set in stone however. They have the right to ask you to come in over the weekends if the operation requires it.
As WW crew, you have very little control of your roster. You have a limited number of trip requests you can submit and you can also ask two UK request days per month, ie: days you will be guaranteed to be in the UK. Of course, a standby block or roster disruption can blow these out of the water.

I start on the 4th Feb. I've received my CD with pre course work book etc and booked uniform fitting. I still haven't had a contract or anything like that sent to me though.

Jay solo,
As VS-LHRCSA says, training is usually Monday through Friday (anything between 08:00 to 16:00 and 10:00 to 18:00). I'm on one of the courses that began in December and classes are also taking place in the weekends because of Christmas and New Year. Training is according to my schedule 25 days.
From what I have been told you cannot request for any trips during the first twelve months. Although, one of our trainers said they might make an exception as the temporary contract is only eleven months (but don't hope too much!).

Thanks!
Thank you, Simon773 and VS-LHRCSA for your valued input. I understand the situation a little better now..........I think!!! I have a friend who is joining BA next month and he asked me about it. He would prefer to be based at Heathrow because of where he is living, but is thrilled to be joining BA, period. There are so many mixed messages on the forum re; Gatwick, but I think it's down to the individual to get as much out of it as possible. He's very excited! Thank you once again, and sorry for the delay in replying.

Annaspanner, you should have been told about that when they rang you to offer you the course date. You should not do it now but do it a month exactly before you start, that is on the 10th of February. Everything is explained in the attachments with the confirmation email. If you do it now, which you can, you might be asked to do it again and pay another £20 as the first one won't be valid anymore.

Bearing in mind you are from France, you need to allow some extra time for the disclosure. Turnaround time depends on the circumstances and from an admin point of view it can take an average of around 3 weeks as I said earlier. For someone who is young and has always lived at home, in the UK, then the facts are easier for DS to verify. It may not be the case for everybody who applies to BA.
Everyone's situation is different and you really do need to speak to resourcing about this. If you are starting in 2 months, then they would be getting this started quite soon. A lot will depend on whether or not you have given notice at your current employer. You also have to factor in the likelihood of any delays in your references, any gaps that need covering, etc. Remember, they will not take up gap references until ALL of your employment and academic references are taken. The whole process needs to be timed so that all work/study references get to BA around the same time as your disclosure. Then your gaps are done, then it's off to Vanguard House for processing.

I have only one referee as I have been in my present job since I started working..10 years ago. When they rang me to offer me the course date, the lady told me to apply for the CRC only a month before starting and not before as it would be too early. I am not sure re people from outside the UK but I believe I should do what they have told me especially I do not want to pay £20 twice. I have read some people did theirs early and they had to re-apply and pay again.
