Hey guys!!!

Has anyone in the EF Holding pool heard any news about course dates recently??? The last people who got called were about 2 weeks ago and they were people interviewed up to the end of February and were given a start date of June 30th. Has anyone who's had their interview beginning of March heard anything yet???????? Any news? Any rumours? Anything???

Gatwick Pay.

£10, 815.00 Basic Per Year
£ 901.25 Per Month + £ 500 allowances and anything higher is good .

My allowances for April are £190 but I prefer 2 sector days and Maybe one long Haul but I'm just lazy

You Must bid for trips to get your wage up and also if you live in London,
don't use the Gatwick express as it's very expensive and Southern trains or First Capital connect trains are much cheaper. And only take 15 min more then the Gatwick express as I have just found out. Sometimes you get a free ride if you know how to act ...

That's not a bad basic, Flower Duet.

I'm on £17K as an A5 and I clear £1050 each month. No shift pay or allowances.

Is the "assessment" the only interview now? Always use be two interviews (+ medical).

The assessment day is a measurements, group activity, 2-1 interview and presentation. It hasn't changed much from over a decade ago from what I can tell.

Does it look like November start dates for LGW? Do I also gather that the LHR drives came out later but will course first? Somewhat unfair if that's so.

It's all down to operational requirements. There are going to be holding pools all over the place. LGW has always been secondary when it comes to planning. They would also be waiting to find out what is going to happen with the WW temps before they start coursing external candidates.

Does London Weighting allowances still get paid? And if so does LGW get it?

I'm at LHR and have never had London Weighting. LGW doesn't qualify for LW at any airline as it is not London. That is how VS get away with not paying it.

I understood that the WW temps from redeployment were being offered permanent.

Yes, they were but it was not automatic. There was a period of uncertainty and most of them were on line before the were told from what I have heard.

What's the transfer list like from Gatwick? How long? Somewhat niggling that the LHR came out afterwards.

Transfer list is very long now that it is part of the NSP and there are active transfers for the first time in years. Don't forget, there are a lot of ex-EOG people still there plus ex-City Flyer (original incarnation). The good money is on a 3-7 year wait, depending on what happens at LHR.

What's the promotion like at Gatwick?

Reasonably quick if you have previous flying experience (but that experience has to be fairly recent). Last purser development was in December and you need two years in total but only 6 months with the company. However, once you take purser, you are pretty much stuck there for a good 10-15 years, just like WW LGW. People have made it to Cabin Manager (LGW version of CSD) in two years but that may slow down if attrition slows.

Edgehill:
bne_ba86 please advise if they have given you an offer / a proposed start date / going into bank??
This is a copy of the email I received just 2 days after my assessment day:

We are pleased to advise you that your assessment for Ref. UKLGW95, Air Cabin Crew - Gatwick Fleet LGW role has been successful.

Due to the level of response to our advertisement, we are currently unable to offer you a training course date. We would, however, like to keep your application on hold until further course dates are available.

Your application is valid for one year from the date of your assessment and we will be in contact again at least 6 weeks before your start date.
We are sorry that we are unable to estimate the date when a training course will be offered to you, but please be assured that all applicants are offered dates strictly in date order of their interview.

We hope to be in contact with you in the near future and look forward to your joining us.

Yours sincerely

British Airways Recruitment
So as far as I can tell - I've got the position, but as there are no training dates, I don't have a start date. As far as I'm concerned, I'm actually a little happy that I have more time to get home and get myself organised to move over to the UK...
Still have no idea where I am going to try and get accommodation - I haven't had the heart to tackle the Accommodation thread yet - there seems to be so many posts ALL THE TIME!

VS-LHRCSA:
I haven't worked as cabin crew as yet - so I have no expectations as to allowances etc. - I'm literally just going to roll with the punches! But thankyou for letting me know re: flight pay starting at report to clear times.
Also - thankyou for clearing up the times regarding promotions at Gatwick. I had asked during the presentation on the assessment day, but never got a clear answer!
You definately ARE a wealth of information!

bencat27....Good luck with your other assessment. I'm the same, whilst I'd love BA to come back to me with something good, they keep extending the closing dates etc so I've applied to several other airlines and got an assessment for one of them a week on Monday which I'm quite excited about.

Good Luck and hope BA come back to you soon.

Hi bne ba86,

Just to congratulate you on being selected. Very well done and it was well deserved, and i know you will have a great career ahead of you.

As we looked up at those fab jets flying over Hatton Cross I just got the feeling that just one of us would get the job, and although being rejected is always a disappointment, I'm really glad it was you that got through that tough selection process.

Onwards and upwards!
Take care,
BITA x

Didn't get the job. Never mind, it was my first ever job interview and they obviously thought about it so I'm not that depressed!

Commuting for eurofleet.

Hi,Could anyone who commutes or knows someone who does whether it's feasable to commute from up north for eurofleet. Also on average how many nights a month do you stay over at lhr and would you need some sort of accommodation on a permanent basis at lhr.

Thanks very much.

I flew with a purser last week who lives in Gateshead. She did say the NCL flights are often busy and she often jumpseats. Given your future lack of seniority, traveling on standby might be stressful but not impossible as long as you were to leave yourself a couple of flights to get down.

RE: NIghtstops at LGW

Longhaul:
ANU Summer 4,5,6 and 7 day trips Winter all 5 Day Trips
BGI 3,4 and 5 day trips
TPA 3 & 4 day Trips
MCO 3 & 4 day trips
ATL Nightstop (3 day trip)
KIN 3, 4 & 5 day trips
BDA Winter 3 & 4Days Summer Nightstop

Shorthaul

Layovers: (ie a day off) AGP, GVA, BLQ (AND GLA AT THE MO)

Nightstops: All domestics except NQY (EDI, MAN, GLA)

Europe TLS, WAW, JER, FCO (summer only), GVA, BLQ (WAW going)

we recently lost MRS (layovers and nightstop) and ABZ

Nightflights (Vile): PMI, Malta, Ismir (later in season) Varna (later in season) Ibiza (double vile and later in season)

Paphos is still under question but it looks more likely it will be a Nightstop/Layover than a night flight.

There are more routes coming online soon - I'd doubt any of them will be nightstops though but dont doubt they might be more vile night flights

I'm afraid the rest are there and backs but they tend in general to be attached to something that slips somewhere.

EDI and MAN are currently on the Airbus only though we should all be moving onto this soon.

There is much rumour of more routes coming as and when new aircraft arrive (indeed we are told to expect announcements soon, though soon in BA terms may be months away) - we were expecting something sooner but the loss of MM has put those things on hold but apparently this aircraft should be replaced within 12 months (I assume a lease).

UVF will become a route in its own right in October also and this is likely to be up to 6 days in length with POS shuttles moving from BGI to this route.

The LCY/NYC is a hot rumour to be awarded to our fleet (we definitely bid for it) and there is much talk of other liesure routes being given to us (though these maybe in exchange fro ATL)

All in all I would say I spend more time doing nightstops/layovers than single gay duties indeed the only one I had this month was from Standby. It's all in the bidding!

EDITED TO ADD: Lgw - JFK on 777 from October 08 - joy!
