Afternoon everyone,

Well I submitted my application last night, so fingers crossed they like what they read. I 1st applied to Virgin and got a rejection email back in just over 12 hours, a Virgin friend told me that half of the applications get automatically rejected, so knocked my confidence a little, but onwards and upwards, worse they can say is no...right?

I have NO Cabin Crew experience, I'm 23 and have spent 5 years in the RAF, so hope that this will have helped me in some way.

Good Luck everyone.

BA LGW, How is it?

Hi there, I have just submitted my application to BA for LGW base. I was curious to know what current crew working there thought about it, I am fully aware it is a different contract, and the difference in financials between LGW and LHR doesn't phase me, I am more curious to know about morale within the base, and what the trips are like, I used to work for BMED and the trips where very tedious, more so due tot he routes, however the crew had a kind of "been there done that" attitude, thus stayed in there hotel rooms for the trip!

Any feed back or info would be much appreciated.

Talking I'm in

Hey everyone

I had my assessment yesterday at the Rivers for WW. I got an email today saying I was in. Yippee! Very excited! However, they stated that I have been put into a holding pool due to the large number of applicants for the role.

Any idea on average waits in the pool?

Thanks
Kenny

5 year history

Hey guys and gals, just a little help needed. I have pretty much finished that 5 year history thing they get you to do online before your assessment and I was wondering if with the personal reference you need to actually attach a reference to it, or do BA call up your reference to get one off them?

Thanks
Ben

references

BA or whoever is dealing with references will write to the person you have indicated on the form.

Remember who else is in the group with you and something interesting about each one of them, this may be useful to you in the 2-1 interview.... Good luck! Also really pay attention to the instructions they give you at the start, they wnat to make sure you can paya attention to instructions and listen well!

Also, can you apply for more than one contract?

One contract per applicant. In the application process, you will be asked if you have applied previously within the last 12 months. Technically, you have, so you will have to answer 'yes'. You won't be able to go further in the application for the second contract. If by chance you do and they find out, you will miss out on both and probably will be barred. Best not to risk it.

As far as response times, this has been covered previously. Give it anything from an hour to 3 weeks. They are really busy right now. Even LGW has been re-advertised internally again, so things must be pretty bad.

Thanks! I was just wondering about the possibility of saying in the interview "actually, i don't mind which airport i'm based at" or is that just stupid?

I really don't, it just so happens that now i've decided to apply there are 3 contracts up for grabs so i've had to just pick one! (i chose the 11 month WW at Heathrow, although having spoken to a friend who does Gatwick, i'm beginning to think i should have applied there...)

Don't worry Welshboy, the chances are that you'll be offered a contract at LGW at the end of the 11 months anyway. Go for LHR temp longhaul, see a bit of the world and have fun, it is a great fleet.

Disclaimer..there is no guarantee that any of the temp crew will be offered permanent contracts with BA at the end of 11 months at any base. But based on previous temp contracts, BA will not have the crewing figures right and will need to retain the crew that they have somewhere in the business!

Good luck with the application!

I'm not good at waiting for them to get back to me, i now i only sent my application of 2 days ago but still...! I wish i'd gone to an assessment day last year when i got offered one instead of taking the job i had now, but hey, we do these things for a reason!

I'm really excited about this (potential) job and hope i get invited to another assessment.

Argh, the waiting kills me! God, i'm such a loser....

Evening everyone,

Yes the waiting is nerve racking. I sent off my application on Monday 24th. Figuring they wouldn't have looked at any from the bank holiday weekend until yesterday and I hear they are snowed under with 3 recruitment drives going on at the minute.

Hope we all hear good news soon. I'll post the minute I hear anything.
