As i said in previous post please do not mistake this company as "BA" its not!! it is a subsidary of them and as sutch the terms and conditions are not the same . Sure you will have the uniform etc etc but the company is just a spin off from the Flybe/Bacon merger, takeover, call it what you will!! As any BACON employee can tell you from bitter experience, you are only regarded as BA when they want you to be and held in low esteem at all other times ,harsh but true.please do not think that by joining this company it will give you a step into mainline because it will not there is no right of transfer between the two companies heck staff at LHR and LGW as a whole could not tell you much about cityflyer because it doesnt affect them, the same as BACON, BACX,BRAL,BRYMON all subsideries at one time or another in the BA group never crossed the collective minds of those bases. If you join Cityflier then join it for what it is a small subsidary of BA with 10 clapped out RJs and a lot of promises from management and not as the golden step into mainline.

Interesting Read
It all seems a bit weird. I know Cityflyer is going to be based out of LCY but you have to look at some of those routes. And Look at what happened to BACON, and the routes now sold to Flybe.
Is there a danger of Cityflyer being another flash in the Pan? I hope not for you guys.
The other danger is CityJet/Air Frances sudden big expansion in LCY
I hope cityflyer succeeds for you guys.

British Airways .
At the end of the day if you want to work for British Airways , You have to go for Mainline LHR/LGW .
All they have to do is pull the plug on there little adventure . I hope this does not happen but you know what the boss at British Airways is like
But saying that if I lived in East London , I would of applied " The Staff Travel is good " and the wage is better then LGW .

Location, wise words i was once told never to base a career on a BA franchise and if you wanted security then go for the mainline contract, alas that doesnt seem so secure these days If you are ground crew at BHX,MAN or EDI, those words sound rather hollow.

"i was once told never to base a career on a BA franchise"
Marlowe, I would like to point out that BA CityFlyer is not a franchise of British Airways, nor was BA Connect/CitiExpress. All of these ventures are/have been wholly owned subsiduaries of British Airways.

Hi, am due to start training with the new BA Ciryflyer on 26/3, have just found out the training is at LGW, was told it would be or partially be at LCY, is any one else training on 26th, and what are their thoughts, cos LGW is gonna be a pain, to travel to everyday, and expensive to stay down for 4 weeks, i thought if your training was off base, the company had to provide accomodation or an allowance, anyone any the wiser?

Hello ,
And Congratulations on getting BA Cityflyer a lovely lady who I work with at the moment has also got the job .
Now to your Question , If you had to get BA LGW I have been told BA would provide accomadation during SEP training at LHR . So I'm sure they would do the same thing just give them a call ...

Hi Location, and thanks for the info, will try and ask about accomodation, is your friend gonna be starting on 26th?, where will she have to commute to LGW from?, just spoke to another girl who is starting in April, and she was told no accomodation, so not sure what to do now....real pain. but hey thanks for the info, and wish your friend the very best of luck.
