Revalidation/Renewal Embraer Legacy
Advice please,
My rating will be lapsed by 90 days on the 31 August, but I need an ATO to sign me off for a sim check, only 2 training providers in Europe, SAT in Zurich and FSI in Paris. SAT do not deal with individuals and FSI, well, quoting more than the initial cost in 2007 by a long stretch. Do any of you have any experience of this problem, CAA have sidekicked the problem and referred me to the list of all approved ATO's in the UK and told me to approach them for advice.....???
How do I go about getting an assessment and a sign off, I already have an examiner and SIM so that part is not a problem.
Help please.

Not sure if I'm missing something here, but if you have an examiner and the sim, then what exactly is it more you need? The examiner signes off your paperwork for the LPC and then you send that to the CAA to renew your rating.

Thats right DEEC, no form 1119D completed, = invalid rating. Wonder how many have fallen foul of this EASA rule, or are about to. 1 day after expiry of current rating an individual must be signed off by an ATO before the same is again valid.

EASA (like the rest of Europe and the Euro) bring only complications that cost us more without making anything any better or safer, this is just one more thing on a very very long list

I agree wholeheartedly, but if anyone out there has had the same issue can they share their knowledge, it is more complicated as I have work to go to if I can resolve the issue in fairly short order, if not, well that may be the end of me and flying, it just becomes almost impossible to justify the expense and hassle.

Sorry to piggy back your original post MD1011 but I have a similar question.
My EMB145/135 yearly revalidation is due soon. I also have a UK JAR licence.
Is there a form that the sim examiner has to fill out for me to submit to the CAA or is it just a question of having my licence signed on the rating validity page as it will not have lapsed at the time of revalidation?
Many thanks .... C.

As you wrote in one of the first posts, you need an ATO, Swiss Aviation Training, are still a TRTO and should become ATO by January. Make sure that your issuing authority accepts a TRTO for renewal.

You need the following forms;
SRG1157
SRG2199
SRG1119D
You may want to check that you don't need 1119C also, but I'm pretty sure that you won't.
Whats your revalidation cost ?

....or google "Approved Training Organisations Doc. 31" I think this is what you are looking for.
With regards to non-UK ATO/TRTO I think you need to prove that they are fully compliant with applicable regulations and get a written confirmation from the CAA that they will recognize the training/check. Make sure you do it BEFORE you complete any training.
Good luck!

Only 2 Embraer Legacy ATO/TRTO in Europe, Swiss Aviation Training in Zurich, generally will only deal with individuals sent there by companies that have accounts with them, recent quote I have heard is €11,000 per head ! and Flight Safety in Paris who quoted me €28,500, both offering a 4-5 day refresher.
So in essence, the cheapest option will not deal with you and the other wants your house, another example of ill thought legislation blowing certain individuals out of the water.

Ok, but problem with Swiss only dealing with companies rather than individuals could be solved by approaching for example Baltic Aviation Academy, Oxford etc and ask them to get a quote for you. I am sure they are all using Swiss simulators for Airbus ratings and could also get recurrent set up for you on the 145. Sure, its going to cost you a bit more, unless they get better rates as they are regular clients...? Or speak to Eastern or BMI Regional and see if they can hook you up...?
Who knows, give them a call. Certainly worth it and something I would look into if it was me potentially loosing a rating.

My question was more of rating expiry rather than licence expiry.
My understanding of the situation is that although your JAR licence has automatically become an EASA licence you are still privileged with the 5 years since last LPC expiry and not 3 under EASA?
'Kind of a "Grandad rights" until you actually hold the EASA piece of paper in your hand.
I hope this helps?

Thanks for that, I was hoping from your original post that you were suggesting the same, I'll attempt to get verification today from the CAA and post findings.

I am told that a JAR licence is, for the purpose of regulation, deemed to be an EASA licence until renewed and as such has the privileges enjoyed by the same.
So no good news there.

Legacy Type/ATPL Ride
This is very interesting as I have a similar issue in that I have the FAA Legacy Type and just completed the EASA theory, medical etc.. and all that's left to complete it is a Sim check to complete the conversion.
I have a contact who use to be a instructor at FS and CAE who is also looking into the options in the US.
He mentioned to me to see if Canada have any EASA authorized sims.
If anyone figures it out and wants to share a sim let me know it may be cheaper.
