Exactly - Vista has at least 2 aircraft permanently based down there. But local FA on a very strange contract.
I guess it's hard to beat the price of a local girl, they even save on accomodation in Lagos(all based there).

If you never have been to Nigeria think well. Very .... intensive ... environment. Especially if you plan to work there as a "local" FA, being responsible for your own accomodation and transport...

Although I am keen to get into the industry, having done more than my lot f LOS commercial flights... It is one of the two places in the world I would never, ever go to work.

737chick, a very strange request! Not only living conditions in Nigeria but also safety and also the attitude of aircraft owners towards FA's

Hate to sound so negative, but this is a very, very bad idea.

Most owners, but not all, prefer local girls for their inflight, so an owner advertising for staff is rather suspect to begin with. PPruNe and other reserves of experience are good places to read these tails of woe. Expats get taken advantage of left and right in Africa, and I can only imagine what would be in store for you.

Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe all have a steep learning curve for the oh so trusting Western European and American crews (I sure have my stories). Even if you are employed by a European operating company, you still face great peril. Ask the guys who flew for ACASS in Nigeria.....

Please find a new dream, and a new check box on your CV!

Care to explain why you are looking at Nigeria and not some other place like Switzerland, Germany, Saudi, Bahrain, Spain......for example?

Thanks for all the responses and having also worked commercial down there , I do understand the challenges we face as expat crews.

I think one important thing I have learnt in my career to date (both commercial and private ) is that not every base or indeed operator is everyone's cup of tea.

As mentioned, I am merely looking for some contractual freelance options as opposed to being based there long term or employed locally. There are of course aspects of safety and security to consider but all things on the table, awareness of any environment is key to balancing the aforementioned.

Why Nigeria? well we know West Africa is certainly a very active emerging market in terms of corporate aviation and I also prefer to judge owners/passengers as they come as opposed to a typical stereotype good or bad.

Thanks again, safe flying
