British charter airline confirms it's interested in airBaltic
30.06.2011, 11:52
British charter flights company Ocean Sky Aviation Ltd. confirms that it is interested in the national airline airBaltic, writes The Baltic Course with reference to Nozare.lv.
"We have sent an offer to participate in the increase of airBaltic core capital, which will allow us to add new services to existing ones," said Ocean Sky's spokeswoman Jenna Prior.
Prior, however, declined to provide more detailed comments.
As reported, the Cabinet continues evaluating several possibilities to ensure liquidity of airBaltic, Transport Minister Uldis Augulis told reporters this week.
All a bit strange but they have prior.

Call me a thread cynic but ....... Ocean Sky has shown a perceived interest in a troubled carrier, that will probably be sold for peanuts or less and immediately, the label is " Ocean Sky Expanding".
Pardon me if I donīt hang out the bunting right at this very moment.

My original post was alluding to the fact that Ocean Sky was looking to purchase a 'loss' making Baltic airline which has recently been subject to financial rumours suggesting hidden Russian investors were taking money out the back door.

It is a classic in the making if true: current CEO blames the previous for taking over a bankrupt outfit without looking at the books..... At the same time they want to take over another operator for the sake of taking over? What on earth is the rational to be and a biz jet operator and an FBO operator and a mx company and a LCC all over the place and without economies of scale or real expertise in your own niche ...
Try to be good in one thing before adding a fourth marginal operation me thinks...

"new management don't seem able to solve the old long standing issues they still have"
as they've had 18 months to work their magic, and many issues appear unresolved or worse, no wonder they have such a high turnover of staff and postholders !!
Seems they've lost yet another DFO - a previous one due to return - god help him, he certainly deserves better !! he must like a challenge or have believed what he's been fed ?!!
Never known such an unhappy place for people to work !
