IAD Dulles Snow collapses hanger roof

In Virginia, a hangar roof collapsed at the Dulles Jet Center around 8 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Rob Yingling, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesman.

Yingling says there were five people spending the night at the complex, but they weren't injured.

He says they suspect significant damage to the hangar, and there were four private jets inside, but they have not done a full damage report yet.

The airport authority says there isn't any fear of a collapse at the terminal.

Somewhere there's a janitor saying "cool, now I can finally sweep under all the airplanes at the same time".

...but wait, there's more!

These photos are just hangar A after initial collapse. Similar situations now in Hangers B and C, with D barely intact.

Yeah that should be IAD. We have another decent sized storm coming, I wonder if hangar D will hold up. Anyone know if N5UU got squished as well? It wears my favorite biz-jet paint scheme on it.

N5UU still at Farnborough this morning in its normal place on the east ramp. Don't think it has flown for a while.

Hate to think how you'd go about trying to extract the a/c from what's undoubtedly a structure which is at best "questionable" and may be downright unsafe without causing further damage - assuming that they aren't written off already, of course...

C-FRKQ Global XRS (N89MX) just registered in December.
I live right near Downsview, and see the green Globals overhead most days.

Wow, that aerial view really is something. Hangars B and C look to be even worse off than A.

Hawker 800XP one of about 20 jets inside hangars at Dulles Jet Center.
Deconstruction of the hangar will begin this week, and eventual removal of the aircraft.
