Netjets price crash announced

I knew they were discounting heavily behind the scenes, now its official. This has just been sent out to their database by email and hard mail.
I wonder what the share owners will think of this price dump on the card programme.......? why buy a share when you can buy 12.5 hours on the same aircraft at 2005 prices.... ? dangerous marketing strategy to publicise rates like this.....considering they usually hide their rates from view.....
=================================
NetJets reduces prices across the board as aircraft values decline

The economic downturn has taken its toll on global markets, driving aircraft values down around the world. At NetJets, we watch the markets closely to ensure that our customers pay prices that reflect current conditions.

We’ve already reduced prices across our Owner Programme and now we’re unveiling a new pricing plan for holders of our Private Jet Card. We’re committed to fair pricing, and by matching the market we’ve made flying with NetJets better value than ever before.

With our 12.5 Hour and 25 Hour cards you can enjoy all the benefits of owning your own plane, but with no capital or long-term commitment required. You’ll travel faster – with no connections, queues or discomfort – and you’ll only pay for the hours you use.

On 25 Hour Cards, we’re reducing our prices for light-cabin aircraft by €13,000, down to €118,000. For mid-size planes we’re reducing the price by €30,000, to €159,000. If a 12.5 Hour Card meets your needs you’ll only pay half of the cost, with no added premium.

As the market leader in private aviation, only NetJets can offer this level of service at these unprecedented prices, and only NetJets can deliver guaranteed availability whenever you want to fly.

These are difficult times for many companies but our dedication to your comfort and safety is stronger than ever. NetJets is financially backed by Berkshire Hathaway so our commitment to safety doesn’t change with the market. It never changes. NetJets holds the highest safety accreditation in the world and we invest more money in safety and training than any other private jet company.

These prices reflect the market so they will rise as global markets recover. If you’ve ever considered flying with NetJets, or if you’d like to learn more about how private aviation can benefit you, now is the time to get in touch and let us plan your next flight.

For holders of our Private Jet Card there has never been a better time to fly with NetJets.

How do Net Jets manage to sell their product? I assume that €159,000 mid jet is a Hawker. €159K = approx £138,000 for 25 occupied hours which equals £5,520/hr. Even assuming half their flights are empty that equates to £2,760/Hr.
Our average charter rate on Hawker 800 is now about £2,550/Hr, that includes everything so flying by charter is not only cheaper than Net Jets but also we do not have the nerve to ask our clients to pay 25 hours up front first! That price includes 3 crew which I think is not the case with Net Jets.

A typical charter would be Friday-Sunday Farnborough-Malaga-Farnborough, a total flying of 5 hours. Are they saying that a Net Jet customer would pay £27,600 for this. Wow! the going rate for a charter on a Hawker would be about £15-16,000 all in.

Why do customers fall for it? I guess I need to employ an ex Net Jets sales person

How much for your charter Gloucester-Paris Le Bourget one way, say about 1hr flight time?
How long would it take you to organize it?

OK so not Gloucester, but your hourly price is £1000 more than the NetJets hour?
And if your breaks how do you get a replacement and what sort of timescale to recover the flight?

Yes but in 1 week or the same day?
What if you break, what are the recovery options?

We do not break, we have very good maintenance. for the last 5 years we have 100% dispatch reliablity on our 800. In the past 35 years of operating our policy on breakdowns is that we will sub-charter the quickest alternative aircraft at OUR cost. The last tech problem we had was in a 700 in Casa Blanca when an oil pipe fractured. We subchartered a Lear 45 and payed out more than the charter revenue, we were most appologetic that the passengers were delayed by 25 minutes

availability?

Even at the height of the market in 2008 it was NO problem for any charter operator, broker, or competing card programme to find another aircraft to cover tech problems etc. And now in the current market finding a replacement is even more guaranteed.....

Lets face it, the only reason Netjets can guarantee to provide a jet even at the height of the market was because they could fall back on the exact same charter operators across europe, they were subcontracting more than 10% of flights to charter operators i think?

so its not a matter of Netjets being more available or reliable than the charter fleet, its a fact that Netjets business model can only function because they CAN fall back on the good old charter fleets of europe / usa when they run out.

touche!

I think Santulli once said that by mathematical definition the Netjets model only works if you subcontract something like 10%, if they do 100% in house their overhead would have to be impossibly huge. As it is now maybe?........

Correct me if I am wrong but I think Net Jets poliocy on breakdowns is that they will position in another Net Jets plane in 2 hours 4 hours etc etc even if there is another operator at the airport available immediately. I think my policy is a better deal for the passengers

Net Jets do not sub charter us, I suspect they are worried that their passengers might realise what really good service is!

750, it sounds like you have it all covered. I guess for Netjets card holders some flights will be cheaper others may be more expensive.

I have no idea how the hourly rate for owners rather than card holders works out. I guess it is much cheaper.

Hawker - netjets have to charge a lot so they can break even on the fleet, its taken them years to get out of the red in europe. even at their highest prices....

the fact they are now discounting would imply they are happy to sell £10 notes for £5 to hold onto whatever they can....

At their new rates, (as inflated as you think they are) every flight will be losing them money.

Id say they would be better off selling less time at a proper break even rate, rather than selling their service off cheaply to make themselves look busy... anyone want to buy £10 for £5? call Netjets.

Any scheme of Netjets is more expensive than charter.

I am not telling about their service quality, when they keep telling the customers in peak periods that "there are no slots available, do you want to fly 12 hours later?", and straight after that we are able to pick some slots in this airport in the time the client wanted.

NetJets have great marketing - that is true.

Hawker750: Netjets doesn't charge for the empty leg. Do your costs include that, or is it extra? Are you comparing apples versus oranges?

The last time I was asked to check, NetJets was somewhat cheaper on the one way legs or the "bring-me-there-and-take-me-back-2-weeks-later" trips. Any roundrobin, the usual suspects are cheaper. But I think it comes down to marketing, It is (or was?) "chic" to be a Netjetter. Buy an apartment in London and get a Netjets card for free. Buy a yacht and get a NetJets card.
Why bother owning an airplane NetJets can do that for you etcetc.

WE all know we could do all this as well, but does Joe Averagebillionaire know?

Its (relatively) new, its hip and trendy and its not identifiable either, so if you board that Jet, your miserable neighbour (or union) does not know its yours...
Definately a factor in Germany, was told so by a former client.

Surely, it all depends if you have a charterable Hawker (or whatever aircraft you need) close to you airport of origin. You are obviously paying any positioning/depositioning costs to a charter operator, depending on where the aircraft is before your flight.
That's all well and good when you want to fly from an airport where an available Hawker is based, but not if you flight route is more obscure.

As I understand the Netjets policy, it's a standard hourly charge wherever your flight is from - on a certain aircraft size. Am I correct?

plus plus

technically yes,

PLUS their fuel surcharges,
PLUS their High Density airport fees,
PLUS any ATC holding time,
PLUS any 'out of zone' repositioning fees......
PLUS on the bigger jets F2000 up I believe they will load on even more extra charges for operational/navigation fees etc.

and if you dont like it? tough, you are locked in...

Netjets price transparency?...'non' (or whatever the Portuguese word is for it..)
