FR Aviation
Im not sure if this is the right board for this company however.
I am considering my options to complete my fATPL and currently slowly working my way through my PPL while being a full time mature student at university.
I am considering alternative uses for the ATPL other than just pax flying as i see it as maximising the employment potential in a fer years time, i think i may do the modular course with my current flying school.
Would anyone be kind enough to provide information on the alternatives to typical airline flying? I am particularly interested in FRaviation as it sounds like an interesting alternative. Have done searches but can find very little on them. Do they look for military experience?
Any info on them or any other possibly interesting organisations would be very much appreciated.
Regards

Don't know an awful lot about them but do know a few guys who are currently there or who were a short while ago, all ex-instructors, none with military experience.
Apparently it's a fantastic job, a hell of a lot of fun and pushes all kinds of envelopes. Definitely a good alternative to public transport.

From what the small amount ive heard of them it does sound interesting and varied. The reason im looking is that any work would be good (baring in mind im going to be at least 29 when i complete the fATPL) i dont want to rest on landing a 737 FO job. Particularly when im thinking of the modular route (i know the modular/integrated has been done to death on here)

Insurance requirements on the Falcon fleet means you will need a 1000 hours total time to be considered.
Not sure what the minimum requirements are for King Airs at Flight Precision Ltd (also part of the Cobham group) or the DO228 survey fleet.

I got a mate who flies for them. He's not ex fast jet mil.
He was a civvy instructor who got a start. He's now a King air captain and a Falcon FO. Unless something's changed recently, he told me that he will not make Falcon captain as he was not a fast jet ex mil pilot.
He enjoys it and it pays well.

It might have changed, but in my times it was a very military orientated organisation and your face definitly has to fit in ! As far as I can remember back, the list of hopefulls is endless, especially on the falcon ! chances on the T-prop are better and salary used to be the same as on Jets, but not for low hours. when I left, some years ago, they started regruiting on the T-prop and if canditates were any good they got a chance on Falcon.
Falcon commands are mainly for ex military !
knowing somebody within the company is a huge advantage!
keep up the dream, you'll get there eventually !
good luck
ps: hang around in bournemouth flying club, you might meet the right people..
