BAA Hong Kong
I am keen to be based in Asia and heard about a new aircraft management company setting up in Hong Kong called BAA. They appear to have a few aircraft undermangement but the pilot turnover seems high from the comments I have heard. Seems their management make major demands which some regard as a compromises on safety? Are they a quality operation of one to avoid? I know Jet & Tag are out in Asia.

I visited them last year
and discussed their pilot needs.
The operation in HK, is the front for a USA 135 operator.
They were not interested in me due to being close to 60, and did not believe that ICAO, and eventually the USA would accept 60+ crew.
I have no reason to think they are suspect, as the office and management staff that I met were very nice, but rater busy.

I haven't heard anything about BAA but I hear that Jet Aviation is hiring G550 drivers in Hong Kong at the moment. If I were to choose my future employer I'd stick to a good brand..

Decided to see for myself & had an interview. Bit new and very very green. Little experinece alongside the likes of Jet & TAG. Nine pilots left in last few months due 'pressure' from non-flying management which is lacking knowledge. One is ex Gulfstream saleman who was 'fired', Vice Chairman is a local socialite who likes flying helicopters himself and the CEO is an ex Bristish Military local hire - storeman no less. Have links to Shenzen Airlines for China AOC. Too risky in my books.

Does anyone have anymore information about this company? Please feel free to PM me. I would like to know more about their salary structure, benefits and future potential before deciding if I want to go all the way to China for the interview.
Are the management trustworthy and approachable? Any information would be appreciated.

I feel I need to assist here.
If they are having a high pilot turnover in these sad and desperate times, then SOMETHING MUST BE NOT QUITE RIGHT there. Whether the crews walked or were pushed, doesn't matter.
Take off the rose tinted glasses and see the writing on the wall.

I have been working for them for 2 months, a few little things wrong, but who has the perfect job? On the whole not bad.
They do have lots of airplanes, they do need pilots, it is tough to get the CAAC license, some guys don't make it, some can't do China!
There is a lot to deal with, but if you are already here, tell me who pays better? Who gives you more benefits? Because back home in Cali we had to do it all ourselves for less money and less benefits.

Avoid.
1. Latest contract Bonds you for your yearly recurrent.
2. If you get your Chinese License it's owned by the company, not you, so no free transfers.
3. Only a 2 year contract + Either party can cut loose with 3 months notice at any time and for no reason = Never settle down.
4. Any problems/issues with anything (pay, incidents, personalities etc) then don't rely on Employment law - there isn't any.
5. Pay is poor for anyone with Type-rating/experience. Result is most recruits are inexperienced and/or desperate.
Basically, Chinese management are trying to do it on the cheap. As Expat pilots keep leaving they try to find ever more ways to keep you with contractual stings.

Type Rating G450/550

Which a/c type rating G450/500 or others, they(BBA) r willing to pay for you. since I find the t.r. for Gulfsteam are much higher than airbus / boeing rating.
Any other information about the interview in BAA. Location? HK or ShenZhen?

So are you saying a US FAA ATP license holder that is hired by BAA and typed in any of their jets will only have a valid type rating with the CAAC? How hard is it to have an 8710 filled out at the same time as the CAAC paperwork is done or do they not offer this to their new hires?

If you have a US FAA ATPL you will only be able to fly their N registered fleet. To fly the B registered fleet (chinese registered) you need to pass a CAAC medical, the CAAC ATPL written exam, and a checkride with CAAC examiner. Unfortunately there is no easy straiht forward application form to fill out to get a CAAC ATPL conversion.
