Farnborough Jobsworth

I know these threads run in R&N but as this is particular to those who use Farnborough I thought I'd post it here.

One of the 'security' staff at Farnborough is on a mission to get himself promoted and to demonstrate how good he is has chosen to ambush anyone and everyone he sees airside not wearing a high viz.

No matter if you hop out of your aircraft to pull the chocks or as I witnessed yesterday step onto the concrete to greet passengers this zealot will race up to you in his little car with the 'I Am Important' light on top and demand to know your identity for the purpose of "....recording your name and registering this as a warning..." Purleeeese. The crew concerned were simply stunned as he berated them in front of passengers.

If the self important little twerp is reading this I have news for him. Your plan to get transferred into the terminal has backfired and your colleagues find it all highly amusing. I was told yesterday "He'll get in here (the terminal) when Hell freezes over".

Now, get back in your Noddy car and bugger off.

Wonder how annoyed the twit would be if you completely ignored him as if he were non-existant? Or berated him for transgressing a 'safety zone' your company has declared around their aircraft and he must remove himself from it forthwith until an escort can be arranged. For his own safety, of course...

Or just told the w@nker to piss off.

Probably been said before, in which case I reiterate, but my old instructor (69 years young, seen it all, done it all) had a similar dressing down from security at a northern airport in front of me and one other student. He asked the security guard what the hell was so important about a high vis jacket that he should come storming over and make such a point here and now and so publicly. The reply was of course that it was for health and safety and so that he could be seen and not run over.

"Well I was over the other side of the airport from you and not wearing my high vis and you f*****g saw me.", said the instructor, embarked the aircraft and closed the door. We, the two students, said nothing. But grinned as loudly as possible.

Yowie wawa!!

That's spooky because a security zone is exactly what I intended to spring on him should he head my way.

Suggest you post a requirement in FAB TAG Handling Ops that you have an authorized person only cordon sanitaire around your companies equipment. Thus only those persons so audited and cleared by your company can approach and/or come within the so stated zone. Some time way back in the Carroll's days, we had this in place at FAB. Worth a try without bugging folks, make it an official company security requirement, ask the handling folks you get on with first, good wind up...............

The Second World is also rather generous with regards a few of the those scoundrels across the water.

We are a blessed nation, they know it, and deep down, we know it....We are the greatest nation on Earth.

And did those feeeeeeeet, in ancient times, walk upon Englands mountains green....

Yea, They are on some sort of Health'n'Safety blitz... I got "intercepted" by the jobsworths yesterday walking the 50ft from hangar door to my aircraft. Annoyed me no end and really was close to blasting Miss Jobsworth for driving the car so close to the airplane in a hazardous manner.

So if anybody from TAG is reading this, please make this crap stop and lets get back to operating with common sense.

Devil Oh my god

Just that happed to me.

I swear I was less than 2 feet from the aircraft getting bags out of the nose when he 'pounced'.

Lazy sod didn't even get out of his car with the 'important' light flashing away and just yelled out of the window.

Apparantly they were having a 2 week safety clampdown.

If he did it again, I wouldn't be able to ensure his safety!!

Agreed...

... A little over zealous however it did not stop me spitting out a mouthful of coffee when i saw some woman burst out of the hangar and leg it 50 metres directly across the apron the other day in full business garb without high vis and flag down a car dropping off some passengers. She must have been a lunatic but it is events like that whch probably sparked the clamp down and not checks and chocks to be fair.

Grrr

Seems that there is much unhappiness in the old guard at TAG. Methinks the idea of an ex Hotel Manager running an FBO is just too much for these folks. Do these new managers have any idea of what makes a good FBO work?

FAB old guard

Yup tis not a happy place I understand since Len R left the scene, it'll be a great shame to see this happen, I truly hope it doesn't. Non aviation oriented folks will not serve our industry as those who are will/do. Residents seem to be unhappy over stuff as well.

rules

I just wonder why we seem to believe that we can be selective over which rules we follow and which we deem ok to ignore. Is this how we operate our aircraft?
If we have an attitude with them over this they might decide to have security screening for crew like the major internationals do, then we would have something to moan about.
Every one is King of their own hill, humour him. He has his job to do as do you ....how hard is that

pilotbear, whilst I agree with what you wanna say, there are rules and there are rules. JUST because some brainwashed idiot (or whoever) decided to have us wear highviz vests, I donīt see the point of being rude and obsessive whilst enforcing this particular rule.

Apparently the guys sees you, so what is the point of the highviz?

Doing a short stop, just unload a pax or two and their bags, Iīm too bloody busy to deal with things like that. Got something to do with safety - I donīt need the same blood pressure than my hydraulic system just because that guy is on a mission.

There is a difference to walk across the apron, maybe crossing taxiways and driveways and being just around the aircraft, unloading luggage. Even if the rule says: wear it always.

Ah the rule says wear it always, but the new French Hotel management running the aviation show does want Hi Viz worn in the terminal building.
What is going on at FAB?
