London City/LCY Jetcentre

I've recently noted that Business traffic into LCY seems to be growing quite rapidly & thet recently, both the BAe125 & Learjet 45 have been given clearance to fly into London City airport. Does anybody know of any other (business aircarft) types that are currently being evaluated for LCY ops?

Presumably the growth in this type of traffic at LCY is at the expense of other London airports such as Biggin Hill, Northolt, Heathrow & Luton.

One last point, the LCY Jetcentre currently operate a single Falcon 900EX. Are there any plans to aquire extra aircraft, I believe I read a while ago they were looking at a smaller aircraft (possibly a Cessna Citation Bravo or Excel) to allow growth.

London City

Does anyone have any information / opinions of the Jet Centre FBO at LCY? I hear it is very busy now? I have been told of a vacancy there and thought I would get some feedback.

London City training requirements.

Boss want to land in London City with its CJ1, Private ops.
Is the specific training mandatory, or does steep approaches experience on other airfields (like Sion ) waive this training requirement ?
Your help appreciated

Found this on UK AIP (you have to register but it is free and useful)

UK AIP LONDON/CITY (13 Apr 06) AD 2-EGLC-1-7
Civil Aviation Authority AMDT 4/06
1 Airport Regulations
a No aeroplane registered in the United Kingdom shall use the aerodrome unless there is contained in its Flight Manual data and procedures for
approach path angles of 5.5° or steeper and no other aeroplane shall use the aerodrome unless it has data and procedures for approach path
angles of 5.5° or steeper which have been approved or otherwise authorised by the regulatory authority of the State in which it is registered.
b The use of the aerodrome is subject to prior permission of the Airport Director. Additionally operators of aircraft are required to satisfy the Airport
Director that they are able to comply with local noise restrictions applicable to the airport.
c Extensions to opening hours (shown by the latest NOTAM) are available on request to the Airport Director or his representative. Delayed
aircraft may be permitted to operate 30 minutes beyond published maximum operating hours shown at AD 2.3 item 1 by prior arrangement. In
respect of the most exceptional operational circumstances where aircraft may be permitted to depart after 2230(local) by the Airport Managing
Director, pilots should note that there will be no Approach Radar service available after 2245(local).
d Operations by all aircraft shall be permitted only when the runway is dry, or if wet devoid of other than small areas of water not exceeding 3
mm in depth. Operations will be prohibited when the runway is contaminated by ice or slush to a depth exceeding 3 mm, or dry snow to a
depth of 10 mm, or the reported braking action is reported as worse than 'medium' provided that this condition shall not apply if there is an
appropriate entry covering operation from contaminated runways contained in the relevant flight manual.
e The aerodrome is not available for use by single engine aircraft. Available to fixed-wing aircraft only. Recreational flying is not permitted.
2 Ground Movement
a Pilots are requested to use minimum power, when manoeuvring on and off parkings stands and when entering the runway. The use of minimum
power is particularly emphasised when entering the runway at Hold Charlie.
b Parking: Pilots should self manoeuvre their aircraft on to the appropriate stand lead-in line (as directed by ATC) from where they will be directed
to the final parking position by marshaller’s.
c Under no circumstances may aircraft self park without guidance from marshallers’
d GA Apron: Pilots will be directed by ATC to Hold W to wait and then follow the marshaller’s instructions for parking.
e To ensure adequate wing tip clearance is maintained from adjacent parked aircraft, it is imperitive that pilots follow the lead-out markings on
Stands 1 to 10.
3 CAT ll/lll Operations. Not applicable.
4 Warnings.
a Pilots are warned, when landing on Runway 10 or Runway 28 in strong wind conditions, of the possibility of building induced turbulence and/or
windshear.
b Pilots should be aware that they may experience some compass drift when positioned at the 28 hold for an extended period.
5 Helicopter Operations
a Use of the airport by helicopters is not permitted.
b See EGLL AD 2.22 for details of helicopter procedures within the CTR.
6 Use of Runways
a The end of the 336 m TDZ is marked with two pairs of white inset high intensity lights. This visual reference may be lost prior to landing
depending on point of touchdown and attitude of the aircraft. If during final approach it is anticipated that the touchdown point will be outside
this area, a missed approach procedure should be initiated.
b When landing on Runway 28, exit via Hold Alpha will not be permitted unless specifically instructed by ATC.
c No operations will be permitted when the runway is contaminated, ie; more than 3 mm of standing water, ice or slush to a depth exceeding 3
mm, or dry snow to a depth of 10 mm.

LCY Mod

PR

Double check the requirements for the Mod yourself. Talk to Cessna Tech Pubs yourself and read the SB carefully.

Some years ago I was given a quote of $19k+ for the mod to the Bravo. In fact the SB was free, the mod consisted of an adjustment to the throttle microswitches which was done on a normal maintenance input and the AFM supplement was free.

Net result all totally free.

People quoting me did not do it maliciously, just did not know what they were talking about and had not done any research so took a wild guess.

Double check yourself!

MM

Can you clarify for me, in private operations not public transport, that as long as the aircraft meets the standard mods,Im talking about a VP reg a/c, then you can request to fly into LCY ?

If the crew need the training where do you need to go to ? Flight saftey ?

cheers

London City - Public Transport Aircraft

Evening chaps,

Would anyone happen to know where I can find a list of all of the light twin piston and light twin turboprop aircraft that can use London City Airport on a Public Transport flight? Also, what would the landing/handling fees be for aircraft in this category?

Many Thanks,

Ox

Check new fees from Jan 1st 2007.

The basic peak hour fee has increased by more than 20% for a Citation Bravo.
(£1200 iso 995 during 2006).

LCA must now be a highly profitable business.
