Spraying Mcleod's Daughters
Alright, it's been several weeks now since the program aired on ch9, and no one has started a thread on this topic. For those of you who didn't see it, there was a pawnee (rego blanked out) spraying "insecticide" on pasture next to a neighbours organic farm. The pilot intentionally sprayed the organic farm because one of their female workers wouldn't put out for him.It also showed the plane pulling up and turning with the spray still on
Now all of the hollywood stuff aside, what pilot/operator in their right mind would want to bring their own industry into disrepute by doing the flying for the tv production company?? It just made our industry look like a complete bunch of cowboys. I hope whoever did it got paid heaps, because they heave done quite a bit of damage to our industy's image and public perception.

Ps. I hope this thread doesn't generate childish comments like the recent dromader question, maybe we might get some constructive discussion, then again maybe we are just a bunch of childish cowboys....

Didn't see the **** house show but heard about it. Sounds like it was pretty bad form from someone though.
Heard the show is filmed in S.A. There can't be that many pawnee's down there.

I agree it was very bad form from the company that undertook the filiming if in fact they knew what it was for.
From the short bits on the tele I couldn't pick up the rego. Kids thought it was blanked out and definitely not on the " chainsawed wing. Kid's had me paying attention by then.
Thought the plot was fairly predictable once organic farming and spraying started to appear.

I have this from a reliable source that the pilot was a one man band and his name is Alan Magetic (or something like that ) surely some one else knows something he sure has been a big help

The story was all bad for our industry.
Perhaps a story about a wild bush fire that threatened a farm which was then put out by an Ag pilot in a Pawnee by fire bombing would have been a better story line.

You sure about the name of the pilot? Sounds like someone from over the hill from gawler and not too far away who has been doing crazy things for years. Like diesel & ester with hot north winds ....ahh the tomatoes down wind just love it.......If there is film footage of aircraft flying with rego blanked out surely our illustrious regulator CASA would be on the job nailing someone for flying without rego displayed???

His name is Alan Majetic (ph 0400549047). He is operating in SA and wondering if anyone out there knows who trained and supervised him and whos aoc he is working under . Ironically the Pawnee is in a paddock missing a wing presumed chopped off by angry farm girl(actually really a prang he had which CASA are aware of but was not reported) They have all this info are taking no action

The media are rarely kind to this industry.
You will see them pass through here occasionally, trying to get info for their next beat up.

With a response like yours I suspect you don't do, and have never done ag, hence would not understand the ramifications to the industry. I know of one pilot who has already been abused by a member of the public as a result of this episode.
You would expect people to understand the difference between fact and fiction, but sadly not everyone is as intelligent and perceptive as you.

No i have never been involved in AG work, but have many years at the Coal face of Aviation and seen people do many silly things! Right or wrong the Pilot in Question has the right to conduct his Business how he feels and in consideration of the fact he has done nothing Illegal has the right to support from his peers.
The entertainment industry is full of Movies and T.V shows depicting many area's of Aviation that Right or Wrong many would not agree with! does that make them all wrong?
I believe the scenario would have been that this Particular Pilot was aproached to Supply and Pilot his aircraft in a Film sequence that was used in a T.V Show!! as previously stated any Inteligent Person is able to tell the Difference between Fact or Fiction.
That doesn't make the Pilot wrong for doing so,, what is Wrong IMHO is people who call themselves pro"s and then take the man to Task on a public forum and disclose his Ph number and advocate all and sundry to Call and Voice their Oppinion. all the while Hiding behind a Screen Name!!!

Fair comment Rotayman, I think most of us believe that the show put us in a bad light and even though it was only make believe, the majority of town folk don't see through the b---sh-t side of things and want to think that there is some w-nker out there that would do something like that,god damn, I know people who at the first site of an ag plane get head aches,feel sick and become a right royal pain in the ass and make comments like "I don't like chemicals" or "you boys should be band from what you do" and crap like that. Have these people ever stopped to think of the contrabution that air ag and application of chemicals play in the production of food and clothing through out the whole world, No I think not. there is a book floating around called Farming with pesticides and plastics {from memory} and if we were to stop using pesticides we would have to clear another three quaters of the land again that is used world wide to meet the same prodution we have today. Where is all this going you ask? Like I said I agree that his name should not of been pasted to this site {and he uses bad photos on his site} but it shows a certain amount or lack there of brains to agree to use your machine for gain and reward in bull **** show like McLeod's daughters and this industry comes under the microscope all to often with issues even smaller than this.Like I said before, I don't think a lot of thought went into it and also rotary just becauce you see a few new people on this site doesn't mean we haven't been watching you from a distance.
