Citation overshoots runway at Cambridge,UK

I just watched our Citation land, turn on the runway to taxy back and then seemed to shoot off in the opposite direction and overshot the runway, followed by 3 fire engines.

This is a major incident for Cambridge. The press will get at least 2 weeks out of it.

Would have been more exciting but the thunder was stolen by a ScotAirways Dornier328 which landed just after lunch with engine 1 out, followed by 3 fire engines and 3 on standby.

Cambridge is a very quiet, non eventful airport. Usually the birdscarers are the highlight of my day.

I assume from your post that you are a marshall employee, or are you with Oxford based charter company? It was not the Marshall Citation that over ran. Also it had not just landed so please post the facts, but then again it a rumour network!!

I never said it did, but I said it 'seemed to. Please don't forget it was dark and it is not a lit airfield.

From where I was standing, it appeared the a/c turned halfway down the runway and then after an almighty thrust ended up off the end of the runway on the edge of the lights. And if it wasnt the MA logo on the tail, whose was it?

Set me straight, you evidently know more than the rest of us!

I also saw the ScotAir landing...more fire-engines than
you could shake a stick at...

The pilot coped very nicely with a moderate cross-wind
and left-hand engine feathered.

Got chased down the runway by the fire-engines making
more smoke than his wheels did - fast landing without
reverse thrust leading to a wheel fire,

Seeing as ScotAirways no longer run services out of Cambridge, I'd have thought that at lunchtime all the aircraft would be out earning their keep. Is there something I'm not getting?

And when are they going to resume flights to Amsterdam?

Sixmilehigh, Low Ratio is absolutely correct. Please do not make rash statements about the company jet. There are many movements into Cambridge from all sorts of operators and comments like that do not help any one. The company jet is in one piece and working hard to help pay everyones wages. The jet in question was from another operation doing a taxi/brakes test on the runway.

It is also nice to see Scott Air in, just a shame the Amsterdam run is not a regular run these days.

Thanks for clarifying that. I honestly believed (although dark) that it was the Marshall logo on the tail fin, on an aircraft which looked as though it has just landed. I then was told by a colleague that the company jet had just overshot the runway. I was maybe hasty in posting before checking what I had written.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't Marshalls' jet and I apologise to all for any misunderstanding. Now please quit stoning me!!! (I thank you!)

Next time I think I have witnessed anything interesting, I'll post it on an aviation related 'RUMOUR' network website, rather than one which is for the gospel only.
