Blériot 5190

SincoTC 13th February 2011 13:21

Not P************ing down here mate, I'd say light precipitation

Edited to say Holy S:mad:T LM!!!! Well, I needn't really have bothered should I :\:\

Correct mate it's the Breguet 5190 :D

Seemingly, its sudden cancellation hastened the the end of the great man

In the meantime, the French government had ordered a further three 5190s from Blériot, and the company had borrowed heavily in order to build the aircraft. Suddenly, the contract was cancelled without explanation or compensation, forcing the firm into bankruptcy. Louis Blériot himself died of a heart attack soon afterwards, on 1 August 1936.
Lightning Mate has control :ok:

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:27

Sometimes TC....just sometimes........

Please standby mate, I am checking my portfolio of twenty.......

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:33

SincoTC 13th February 2011 13:35

Well, my immediate reaction is that it's prolly a test machine for the original trials of Dr Rogallo's novel wing design. Have to go and have a proper look now

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:36

PS TC,

If you need more silhouettes, send them as I'm busy next week.

I appreciate you doing your own so that I can play. :ok:

Don't bother mate.

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:38

Ahhhh... the Rogallo.

Longitudinal static and dynamic stability courtesy extreme geometric washout, as in Concorde.

Wanna BIG year clue?.................it will surprise you............

SincoTC 13th February 2011 13:49

Thanks for the silhouette offer mate; but I'll muddle along hand to mouth style as we really need all the players we can muster at the moment!!

Gissa year then I'm floundering on this, tiz not really my interest!

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:49

...1962...

as we really need all the players we can muster at the moment!!

I agree.

RegDep 13th February 2011 13:50

Don't bother mate.
So, it is not the Paresev 1 in landing, 1962

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/...in_landing.jpg

Wasn't that the NASA testing Rogallo wing?

Or was the "original" a wrong qualifier in TC's answer? Just curious....

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:52

Guten tag Reg.

:D:D:D

Wot you got for us?

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:54

Wasn't that the NASA testing Rogallo wing?
I think not.

Between them is a PARASEV, an experimental paraglider designed to return space capsules to earth. Armstrong had tested the PARASEV for NASA in 1962.

RegDep 13th February 2011 13:57

Thanks LM. Went to look pictures of Rogallo wing testing to figure out what TC was talking about. This is the Wiki article picture of "Rogallo Wing" and then to the link in picture caption for Paresev in Wiki which reads "NASA Paresev". Go figure out.

Sorry pals, will be airborne in about two hours to spend the best part of the week off-county, mostly off-line.

This time having a better reason for Open House than usually :ouch:.

Have a great time,

Yours envying

Reg

Lightning Mate 13th February 2011 13:57

Move it TC...........

Three minutes from brake release and a Lightning F3 is already at 36000 feet and accelerating....

SincoTC 13th February 2011 14:07

WTFO??

Thanks Reg, I thought that's what I regard as the Rogallo wing and it was developed as the Parasev, see NASA link: ch11

The Paresev (Paraglider Research Vehicle) was an experimental NASA glider aircraft based upon the kite-parachute studies by NASA engineer Francis Rogallo.
Thanks Reg, hurry back mate!!

Oh bugger, what have I got to launch, gimme five
