MReyn24050 10th Aug 2012 23:05

Noyade 10th Aug 2012 23:06

The Pipit it is. :ok:

Your control Mel.

Noyade 11th Aug 2012 21:44

Lots of ideas mate....but they lead to naught.

Tell me whats happening at top right? Is the aircraft damaged? I keep thinking there should be a top wing with struts/wires.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/1932/exhaust1li.jpg

MReyn24050 11th Aug 2012 22:15

It is actually the out of focus right arm shoulder and part of the head of a crewman standing on the wing alongside of the cockpit.

Noyade 11th Aug 2012 22:30

Ahhhh......thank you!

So, a monoplane?

Noyade 11th Aug 2012 22:43

British?.....

MReyn24050 11th Aug 2012 22:59

This one was not British. Manufacturer and Designation required. :)

Karlark 12th Aug 2012 04:30

Junkers K.43?

MReyn24050 12th Aug 2012 10:35

That is the one Karlark. :ok: The Junkers K34.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...lfotoAvion.jpg

Karlark 12th Aug 2012 13:33

Noyade 13th Aug 2012 10:21

Dear oh dear. :(

American, say early post WW2?

sabredog 13th Aug 2012 13:39

American,Graeme, and both WW2 and post war.

Noyade 13th Aug 2012 23:06

Thanks mate.

What did the mystery aircraft do for a living?

Karlark 14th Aug 2012 03:41

I could swear I've seen that exhaust somewhere..

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...4u-exhaust.jpg

F4U Corsair?

Noyade 14th Aug 2012 04:55

I could swear
I did. :(

Corsair looks very promising mate. :)

sabredog 14th Aug 2012 06:34

Correct,Karlark. The F4U Corsair.
YHC.

Karlark 14th Aug 2012 10:08

Thanks SD, Open House.

Karlark 14th Aug 2012 21:31

Here's an intake:

Noyade 14th Aug 2012 21:40

Hi Karl.

Is it that super-duper MiG MAPO jet?

Karlark 14th Aug 2012 22:15

Hi Graeme, yes that be the one :ok:

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i.../2012/38-6.jpg

Your control

Noyade 14th Aug 2012 23:25

Thanks Karl. More of a "plumbing" challenge I guess, but here goes...

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6793/img176z.jpg

Karlark 15th Aug 2012 00:50

My guess is the turbocharged Lavochkin LA-7TK, although I can't find a picture of it....

Edit; Maybe not, does looks Russian though.

Noyade 15th Aug 2012 02:59

This type of aircraft had "reached the limit of its technical potential" by 1939 and the supercharged M-25VTK engine shown was a desperate attempt to improve performance and remain competitive at high-altitudes.

It is Russian, but not a Lavochkin.

:)

Karlark 15th Aug 2012 03:30

Polikarpov I-16?

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2012/34-10.jpg

:)

Noyade 15th Aug 2012 05:39

Yes indeed, the Polikarpov I-16TK.

Your control Karl. :ok:

Karlark 15th Aug 2012 12:18

Thanks Graeme. Here's another intake:

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2012/34-11.jpg

Noyade 15th Aug 2012 12:20

Dunno Karl, but it looks like another super-duper jet fighter of sorts?

Karlark 15th Aug 2012 12:37

This one wasn't too super duper; it never made it past mock up stage.

Edit: It was a LWF contender.

Noyade 15th Aug 2012 20:54

LWF contender
Thanks Karl. That made things very easy. I always thought it was just a two horse race.
Impressive looking machine, looks pretty super-duper to me, the Boeing Model 908....

http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/7...gmodel908b.jpg

Karlark 15th Aug 2012 21:31

Yes, that's the one. :ok:

Looks like it stabbed the wall and sprung a leak. :)

Your control.

Noyade 15th Aug 2012 21:36

Looks like it stabbed the wall and sprung a leak. http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/smile.gif
It does! Just noticed that now.

Open House thanks Karl, as I'm one on one with a Russian.

Noyade 16th Aug 2012 11:17

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/230/img187j.jpg

Krakatoa 16th Aug 2012 12:32

Vickers Varsity

OH if correct

Noyade 16th Aug 2012 21:41

That's a fair stab, but not the Varsity mate.
This is not a British aircraft.

A Famous individual is responsible for this aircraft. He had a lot of money and became rather reclusive in later life....
