sabredog 18th Jul 2012 12:04

Correct,Graeme. It is the Aermacchi/Yak-130.
YHC

Noyade 18th Jul 2012 12:07

Thanks Terrence.
Lots of offshoots from those Russian trainers from the nineties?

Anyway, onwards...

Ridge Runner 18th Jul 2012 14:09

Gnat F, perhaps?

Edit: although it looks quite jugoslav!

skytrain10 18th Jul 2012 14:22

When I first looked my initial thought was an Etendard or Super Etendard. However neither has that kind of curvature to the front cockpit window.

You could be right on Yugoslavia Martin - coffee break soon so I'll take a closer look.

skytrain10 18th Jul 2012 14:33

How about a Grumman F-11 Tiger?

Noyade 18th Jul 2012 20:55

I guess it depends on how accurately the artist has 'captured' the subject?
A bigger piece of canvas...

Harley Quinn 18th Jul 2012 23:41

the Yak 36 Forger

Noyade 19th Jul 2012 06:13

Well done Harley. :ok:

Your control.

Yakovlev Yak 36

Harley Quinn 19th Jul 2012 07:27

For those who prefer older aircraft:

sabredog 19th Jul 2012 09:28

Yakovlev Yak-3 ?

Noyade 19th Jul 2012 11:46

I believe the Dog with the razor-sharp Sabre has sliced another challenge. :)

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7681/yakax.jpg

Harley Quinn 19th Jul 2012 20:58

Indeed SD has it, though my ref has it as Yak 9 it sems this feature was present across the range of piston engine Yaks.

Noyade 19th Jul 2012 21:23

though my ref has it as Yak 9
Sorry Harley, I googled Yak-3, saw the "holes" and immediately thought the Sabre wielding Dog has struck again. :)

Is it too late to say Yak-9 now?...:)

Harley Quinn 20th Jul 2012 19:34

I'd let it go, like I said this aperture seems to feature across most Yak fighters

Noyade 21st Jul 2012 10:04

Terrance, you're a winner with the Yak 3 > 9. You have control....

sabredog 21st Jul 2012 11:02

Thank you, Graeme/Harley Quinn.

Harley Quinn 21st Jul 2012 20:46

I've convinced myself this is a 7 cyl radial, but I've never seen such a tight cowling.

Maybe I'm just a numpty?

Karlark 21st Jul 2012 22:06

I think you are right that it is a 7 cly. radial Harley.

Pobjoy Pirate?

Noyade 21st Jul 2012 22:21

Gents. :)

Too slow...

Looked at the Pirate earlier, but couldn't find a front view. Found one of the Kittiwake, but it's "dimpleless"...

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/6504/img102ud.jpg

Karlark 21st Jul 2012 22:51

I looked at the Freuller Vals MA, which also has the dimple features, but still looks more like the Pirate. :)

sabredog 22nd Jul 2012 07:11

None of the above aircraft,Gentlemen, but follow the seven cylinder engine trail!

Lightning Mate 22nd Jul 2012 09:47

Reminds me of the Comper Kite.

SincoTC 22nd Jul 2012 10:19

Morning SD :)

I think that I see the reflection of a landing gear strut and the top of an oleo that would fit well with a Westland-Cierva CL 20 ??

Have to Open House if correct as I'm off out now!

sabredog 22nd Jul 2012 14:15

Well done,SincoTC.
It is the Westland-Cierva CL 20 with the 90hp Pobjoy Niagara "S" seven-cylinder air-cooled radial engine.
http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/...to633/CL20.jpg
SincoTc has declared;
Open House.

SincoTC 22nd Jul 2012 22:02

Thanks Terrence, that was a good challenge :ok:

Still my OH so I'll reclaim it, here's the next one!

I understand that there may be additional wire-mesh screens to prevent birds nesting in this retired exhibit :)

http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...allenge052.jpg

Noyade 22nd Jul 2012 22:21

G'day mate. :)

wire-mesh screens
So, old, rare and in a museum? (any room for me?) American?
Immediate thought was the O-47, but that's a large strut at bottom left?

Single or multi-engines?

SincoTC 22nd Jul 2012 22:29

G'day to you Graeme,

There's only two left out of less than a couple of dozen built, so I guess it is fairly rare and it is multi engine :)

Noyade 22nd Jul 2012 22:37

a large strut at bottom left?
The tail?

Big American multi-engined tail-dragger?

SincoTC 22nd Jul 2012 22:44

The tail?

Big American multi-engined tail-dragger?
Not the tail, otherwise all affirmative :ok:

Noyade 22nd Jul 2012 23:04

Not the tail
Right. So a strut to support a large landing-gear strut?

The Northrop Pioneer/Raider?

http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/360/img104t.jpg

SincoTC 22nd Jul 2012 23:08

Bang on mate!!

It is the Northrop YC-125 Raider

http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...rop_YC-125.jpg

Noyade has control

I'm off to bed now mate, gotta be up in five hours :( Have a Good Day :ok:

Noyade 22nd Jul 2012 23:13

Thanks for the clues Trevor!

Hope those 5 hrs are intense sleep - dunno how ya do it mate...but if by chance you don't, here's the next...

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3926/img105be.jpg

Plan is to make this aircraft a silhouette soon. Cheers. :ok:

SincoTC 23rd Jul 2012 05:41

A'rtnoon Graeme,

Looks like a Curtiss V-1570 Conqueror!!

I think this may be the Atlantic-Fokker XA-7 prototype of 1931 ??

Open House if correct, I'll try and look back later, but it's a hectic day ahead and may not be able to.

Noyade 23rd Jul 2012 08:06

Atlantic-Fokker XA-7
Well done mate. :ok:

Open House.

Noyade 23rd Jul 2012 10:41

Mock-up, the actual aircraft differed slightly...

http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/6593/img103zx.jpg

May help...

See here....

differed slightly
Hmm...maybe more than "slightly"...

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/981/differentj.jpg

SincoTC 24th Jul 2012 05:34

A'rtnoon Graeme :)

Nice clue mate!

So it's the Airmaster Avalon 680 and Happy 115th birthday to Amelia Earhart thanks to Google!!

Airmaster Avalon 680

Have to be Open House as I'm not going to be on-line for a lot of today, sorry

Noyade 24th Jul 2012 08:46

Well done Trevor. :ok: Hope your day goes well.

Open House.

(Are the London taxi drivers back at work now?)

Karlark 25th Jul 2012 02:51

Open house again?
Nothing fancy about this one except for the little feet. :)

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC02096-1.jpg

sabredog 25th Jul 2012 06:50

Vultee BT-13/BT-15 Valiant?

Karlark 25th Jul 2012 11:44
