I'm sorry, just a lurker here, I have nothing to post

A still from a video. I was warned to stand to the side, for obvious reasons :)

Thank you,Simon. Where was the asbestos blanket to protect the tailplane?
The next challenge; http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/...633/Quiz61.jpg |
Can't work out whether that is an 'inny' or an 'outy'!
|
Thanks Harley! I was too ashamed to ask. :(
|
My first thoughts were either DH 108 intake, or CM 170 exhaust, (quick image check on google shows not only my eyesight is shot, so is my memory!) hence the question
|
You can just make out a black strip at top left of the photo...vertical fin? Therefore it's an exhaust?
Supermarine Type 508...but the "tail" should be further back? http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/7966/quiz61.jpg |
Like it!
maybe the 525 or Scimitar though? |
Apologies,Gentlemen.
Best to scrub this effort, as my challenge is showing the full photograph!! Which rather defeats the object of the thread. My Photobucket is not transposing the correct copies . Apologies for wasting your time. Sabredog |
as my challenge is showing the full photograph!! |
Glad my camera is better than that!
Or I suppose it does remind me of those particularly grainy pics one would see of Soviet types at Ramenskoye or wherever. |

as my challenge is showing the full photograph!! Which rather defeats the object of the thread. The image above which you posted appears, to me, something like this... http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/8240/img423u.jpg No way is that a complete aircraft? Cheers mate. :ok: |
French ‘V’ tail; Magister?
OH |
Backing up a bit, and adding a bit of nostalgia. sabredog asked:
Where was the asbestos blanket to protect the tailplane? I flew in the Vampire before I filmed Brett starting up for his flight home to New Plymouth. I mentioned to a friend that the cockpit seemed to have shrunk over the last 44 years and he charitably commented that it must have been a 3/4 scale Vampire! |
All very odd,Noyade. It must be a technical problem, as it is now appearing correctly,i.e. a cropped picture! Excellent sketch, though.
Not the delightful Magister,Safetypee, but certainly French. It is, by the way, an intake. Simon, please check your P.M.s, reference D.H. Vampire. Sabredog. |
It is on it's way,Simon.
|
If it's an intake, then I suspect it's a Payen Pa.49 ??
I'm going to be very busy this afternoon, so please call an OH if correct to someone else a chance! I'll pop one up when I get home if it's still free! |
