Taking advantage of the open house, here's an intake;

G'day Karlark.

intake;
Jet mate? Can't work out that polished(?) surface at the lower half of the photo. Thought it might be rain water, but a jet intake wouldn't be that close to the ground, would it? Magnified, there looks to be a bolt at bottom left?

Much appreciate a clue (or two!) for a lazy Sunday morning...at your discretion of course. :)

Karlark 10th Dec 2011 22:19

Hello again Noyade,

I haven't been able to monitor close today, but I'm in now. :)

The intake is for a piston engine. The shiny is the underside of the wing. It's the same on the other wing as well. It does look as though they're Polish(ed).

Noyade 11th Dec 2011 04:11

The shiny is the underside of the wing
So we're upside down? :ok: Big airscoop? Mustang?

Karlark 11th Dec 2011 06:42

Well, not upside down, just shiny. :)
Here's a better view;

There is something in memory about this, but I can’t get at it.
Possibly a whiff of French perfume or maybe even Swiss chocolate?

MReyn24050 16th Dec 2011 12:33

Not a whiff of French perfume or even Swiss chocolate but possibly a whiff of a Hot Dog. The aircraft is I believe the Northrop JB-1 from the USA.

SincoTC 16th Dec 2011 13:07

Sorry SP, none of those delicate fragrancies, but maybe hot-dog as Mel points out :D.

Hello Mel :), It takes something pretty special/obscure to stop you in your tracks and it seems this isn't it!!

It is indeed the Northrop JB-1

The guy at the back is checking to see if the onions are ready!!

MReyn24050 has control

MReyn24050 16th Dec 2011 15:05
