By a company called LWF...?

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 07:59

Bait doesn't taste too good.

No.

Noyade 26th May 2010 08:11

Are we looking at an aircraft built prior to 1917?

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 08:16

To be precise, 1916.

Noyade 26th May 2010 08:23

Well, I've got some serious googling to do as I have the first American bomber listed as the Martin GMB of 1918?

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 08:25

Google was my friend.......

Noyade 26th May 2010 08:35

Rosebud or Aerofiles? Or neither?

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 08:42

From Rosebud.

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 09:10

I've just discovered it's also in Aerofiles.

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 09:26

I have to go now, I'll leave the green light on.

Back in fifty minutes.

Noyade 26th May 2010 09:28

Google was my friend.......
Well, he's not my Fokker Friendship, but he did help me find No.16, the Andermat Biplane...

Search AEROFILES.COM: biplane bomber prototype

Looking at the chap in the centre, French?

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 11:01

I've been playing with image a bit, and that uniform looks like a very old version of the British Post Office.

So is it by any chance British?

Noyade 26th May 2010 11:15

Yes, British and he does work for the Post Office.
This is a rehearsal at Hendon for the 1911 Coronation mail service that was to start a few days later.

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 11:24

That's a big clue, but Google and I are having an argument. :\

Lightning Mate 26th May 2010 11:28

Got this so far:

The planes used were two Bleriots and a Farman

Noyade 26th May 2010 11:40

Well try this then...according to Peter Lewis this aircraft was the first to fly cargo by air in Britain..

Noyade 26th May 2010 11:42

...a box of Osram lamps...
