PaperTiger 2nd Oct 2008 18:42

It's a Waco.

Can't see clearly, but I'll guess a YPF ?

evansb 2nd Oct 2008 20:32

Yes, it is a WACO, but not the YPF. Try again.

evansb 3rd Oct 2008 04:30

Three letters and a number will work. They must be in the correct order. Happy hunting!

sycamore 3rd Oct 2008 14:23

Upf-7,new Build

evansb 3rd Oct 2008 16:22

Sorry, sycamore, not the UPF-7. WACO had quite the alphabet soup, didn't they?

PaperTiger 3rd Oct 2008 17:10

And since many Waco sub-models are visually indistinguishable from one another (especially in a silhouette), we're actually reduced to just guessing here.

It's an F of some kind but I'm not claiming a win 'cos I don't have anything to post :p

evansb 3rd Oct 2008 17:40

Well said. The aircraft is a WACO YMF-5. Open house.

Silhoutte Challenge list

I believe there is a problem with the Geocities website. I have tried to update the current lists but am unable to get into Geocities. Am I to believe this is the case for all pruners? Mel

chiglet 5th Oct 2008 15:52

A "Lakes" amphib, by any chance?
watp,iktch

evansb 5th Oct 2008 16:30

Is it a kit plane (amateur built)? Some production Thurstons had t-tails, but not two-piece outriggers.

S'land 5th Oct 2008 16:54

Not a "Lakes" or a kit build, but it is an amphibian.

This aircraft was built two years before the "Lakes" designed by David Thurston (i.e. in 1946).

evansb 5th Oct 2008 16:55

A Thurston TA-16 Seafire?

S'land 5th Oct 2008 17:22

Sorry, not from the hand of David Thurston.
