Good morning TC. HAI-17 it is :ok:

I was just contemplating on a 12-hour clue .

Hi Ken!

Are those windows alongside the observer's position, within the fuselage?

1934 Meridionali Ro.37?

Reg

Edit to say: No but having seen Meridionali's 3D could not be that far off :\

skytrain10 1st Mar 2011 14:45

Hi Martin

Are those windows alongside the observer's position, within the fuselage?
Sorry, its not too clear from the silhouette. Yes those are indeed windows within the fuselage immediately aft of the lower wing.

RegDep 1st Mar 2011 14:50

1937 I.A.R. 37 through 39, then?

Edit to say, that it looks mostly like 37.

skytrain10 1st Mar 2011 15:11

Hi RD, yes its the IAR 37 from Romania.:ok:

Here is one that may not be too easy
You mean not Russian?

evansb 1st Mar 2011 17:56

Not a bit Russian, this one.

RegDep 1st Mar 2011 17:57

So what's the big idea? STOL?

RegDep 1st Mar 2011 18:13

HappyPass I see you lurking

evansb 1st Mar 2011 18:42

STOL? Sort of. The big idea was to operate from unimproved airstrips at hot and high altitudes.

skytrain10 1st Mar 2011 19:00

Big idea implies it never came to fulfilment....was this actually built?

RegDep 1st Mar 2011 19:17

Hot and high altitude. Where would you have that to justify an aircraft project which is not a bit Russian? Chilean, Argentine, or Peruvian? French for Algeria? India?

evansb 1st Mar 2011 19:24

Yes, one aircraft was built and it flew, very briefly. It was not built nor designed in any of the countries mentioned.
