Well. 21 hours, 75 "views" and no offers ? must be clue time !

Lycoming 0-235 powered.

Manufacturing Co established in 1974.

Over 2000 of their products flying worldwide.

Several were delivered to the Iraqi Air Force in 04 / 05 !

Norwich's challenge

Too many clues methinks. Please check PMs.:)

windriver 18th Apr 2008 23:14

AS202 Bravo?

ozbeowulf 19th Apr 2008 03:54

An Off-Topic question....

Because I may not be the only one with this question, I'll ask it openly rather than with a pm.

How can one find the number of "views" of a challenge that one posts? Is that a forum feature or a PhotoBucket feature?

So far, nothing found in the FAQs.

Cheers,

Glenn

norwich 19th Apr 2008 06:34

Good morning all, Windriver it's not one of those, sorry ??.
Ozbeowulf, If you use the "back button" from this page, once, the previous page lists the number of views in the right hand coloumn, as this is an ongoing thread, you have to record the number at the time of posting a challenge, hope this explains ????
Keith, be lucky. ????

ozbeowulf 19th Apr 2008 08:54

Thanks, Keith...

Glenn

stevef 19th Apr 2008 17:12

norwich 19th Apr 2008 17:47

Stevef, sorry not a socata, not built in France, possibly built in a garage or shed ?????? Keith.

Agaricus bisporus 19th Apr 2008 21:07

It's the Zenair/Alarus CH2000, so it is!

Never heard of that one before either!

Nice clues, Norwich.

Once again, Open House.

norwich 20th Apr 2008 10:25

Yes indeed, Agaricus bisporus has it ! Zenair CH2000 ! seems to be a popular, all metal, self assembly aircraft ! Ab has declared open house so I will sit back and enjoy. Keith.

A quickie to keep the show on the road...

To win: Name the pilot, the significance of the aircraft, the date and location.

Is it the Douglas X3 Stiletto?

sycamore 22nd Apr 2008 15:04

Something says `Navy`,and Grumman single seat twin piston, but before the F7F Tigercat....XF5F-1 perhaps ?? and if it is, carry on..Syc

con-pilot 22nd Apr 2008 16:46

Is it the Douglas X3 Stiletto?
I don't think it is jet powered. X-3 was my first guess as well until I saw the Mag. switches on the left side of the instrument panel. At least they look like Mag. switches.

Yup, piston powered, primer pump on right side.

norwich 22nd Apr 2008 17:02

Definitely the XF5F-1 Skyrocket as Sycamore said ! just found same photo elsewhere ? Keith.

sycamore 22nd Apr 2008 18:40

Please carry on guys...incontinent..errr incompetent at down err uploading !

ozbeowulf 22nd Apr 2008 20:55

Well done, Sycamore! The X5F-1 it is.

"Open house," the man said.......

norwich 22nd Apr 2008 21:03

norwich 23rd Apr 2008 10:06

Umm Sikorsky H 5 Dragonfly ???? Keith.

Cubs2jets 23rd Apr 2008 12:08

Stevef was the first to correctly identify the Sikorsky S51/H-5/HO3S that is in the Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker, AL.

This won't be unidentified for long!

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...f_2007/cc2.jpg

sycamore 24th Apr 2008 13:19

Bit of a mystery ship ,but a few thoughts; twin-engined piston, boost gauge at top, possibly rpm gauges mid-left, prop synchroniser top left, other engine stuff right,,a/h lower,so probably not `important`,no visible ASI,unless it is the `tape` at left, radio callsign in middle, and what looks like a `dymo tape` note` u/c inoperative` next to the cowl flap handles down the centre....
could it be the CH-Vt V173/XF5U Pancake ?

stevef 24th Apr 2008 15:11

This aircraft was not from the USA, Sycamore. Prototype first flew in 1940. Two engines as you say. Two crew.

sycamore 24th Apr 2008 15:39

Was it a `War `trophy from Germany or Japan ?
